Valiant.
Peerless.
Extraordinary.
Su Yi, the swordsman of a former era, floated within the Dark Void without any support save his sword and his spine. With his head held high, he lacked all signs of consciousness. Today, this unfettered cultivator displayed unprecedented power, exceeding every expectation, and showcasing a spirit like no other.
As the seventh punishment began to formulate without mercy, seeking to obliterate Su Yi, it slowly dissipated before trillions of eyes.
"..."
A stifling, heavy silence pervaded the mind and soul, spreading across the Utmost Purity Galaxy with unrelenting momentum. The two Supreme Sages halted their spatial storm-inducing battle.
"Incredible." Hao Chengxue broke this solid air of silence as his words flowed naturally, praising Su Yi's effort with all his might. Not only did he fight off the Mythical Punishments, he directed all of it to himself. If he hadn't, there was a strong possibility that he would have resisted the punishments with a stronger showing of invincibility. However, he refused to implicate his allies. That was a brave act worthy of appreciation, regardless of how it was performed.
Imentet exhaled out the breath that was held in her chest. "For a Mystic Overlord to rival a Supreme Sage…it certainly is an incredible feat," she was awed by the act, but when she thought about Wei Wuyin, that silver-eyed emperor that dominated eight sages with a Mystic Star Phase cultivation base, she couldn't help but feel the awe in her heart lessen by a few degrees.
Yue Baoyue's eyes dimmed slightly while her facial complexion was pallid. Within those dim eyes was a heavy ripple of relief as she looked at Su Yi's floating figure, noticing the faint signs of life, and then concern as she grew increasingly worried. She slowly moved, but her legs trembled as weakness coursed through every portion of her body, and she could barely stay standing. From the shadows of the galaxy, numerous existences were rushing toward Su Yi's location. Not all of them were concerned about his safety.
Yue Baoyue's pale expression grew two shades whiters.
Immediately, the two Supreme Sages fought once again. This time, the Seer of the Night's Supreme Sage unleashed a Spatial Art, shifting both of them to an entirely different location. They vanished from everyone's eyes. This sight was like a starting shot of a race. The goal? Su Yi! The swordsman was in a vulnerable state, and his soul and body carried out unfathomable secrets that countless would slaughter for.
Countless surges of silvery spatial power erupted around Su Yi as a subtle battle unfolded, sealing his route of escape and preventing others from approaching easily. Within a second, unseen existences collided, Sages fought, and Supreme Sages moved.
Yue Baoyue yelped audibly, fear pounding against her heart as she struggled to stand. In her desperation, she turned to look at Wei Wuyin with quivering lips and trembling, watery eyes.
"Haha," Wei Wuyin heartily chuckled, seemingly uncovered by the chaos that was on the verge of erupting in full. His voice pulsed outwards, carrying an ungodly, excessively powerful Spiritual Strength supported by four Astral Souls and Little Defiant, carrying the mutated Minor Authority of Imperial Law!
"Seven days. For those days, Daoist Su Yi will be under my protection." Those words spread out with the authority of an Imperial Edict, coursing through the Dark Void and changing countless expressions both belonging to the weak and strong.
Wei Wuyin brought two fingers together. The light of two authorities of Law flowed majestically within—Space and Time.
SNAP!
Draconic-Paragon Energy transformed into Draconic Void Mystic Force. Wei Wuyin executed his Void Ascension Art fueled by his True Void Dragon Bloodline Energies. Su Yi's body was subjected to a Void Shift, and none of the restrictive arts or spells could hinder his body from flickering out of existence. Within the blink of a Supreme Sage's eye, Su Yi, that bloodied figure with a straight, uncollapsible spine, appeared in the room beside Yue Baoyue.
Yue Baoyue found strength from somewhere and rushed over, holding Su Yi tightly in her arms.
"Don't try to heal him with your Mystic Power. You'll only worsen his state given your situation," Wei Wuyin informed as he directed his gaze outwards toward those Spiritual Senses and Soul Perceptions that were descending upon his Original Dawn Palace.
"If you're tired of living, come. If you want to wait until seven days have passed, then congratulations, you have a survival instinct that could be praised by the gods, seen and unseen." Wei Wuyin grinned as he walked forward, his body unleashing pulsating waves of authority to annihilate all. This shocked countless individuals. Ṝᴀℕő₿Èꞩ
Wei Wuyin thought for a second and then said: "If you want to try, then I suggest waiting for the Seven Utmost Towers to make a move. They can suffer first. You might be able to gain something from the aftermath. If they don't dare, then wouldn't that just be sending yourselves to your deaths for their gain?"
"..."
"..."
It was unknown how many supreme or near-supreme existences these words moved, but the movement in the Dark Void came to an almost simultaneous synchronized halt. However, the various senses and perceptions were emitting unwillingness.
Wei Wuyin retracted his aura of annihilation, and then gestured toward Su Yi, openly declaring: "I don't care much for his secrets. I'm way too young to think about reincarnating. So during these seven days, I can say that I won't interrogate him or extract his soul for study. I'll leave him unharmed and in the hands of the Dazzling Jewel Alchemic Saint. After all, this is your galaxy's cultivator and your galaxy's secrets."
Wei Wuyin didn't need to swear an oath for those observing to note that his words contained zero falsehood. Moreover, as he used the power and authority of the Imperial Law within, violating his words openly would be no different than shattering his law, likely forcing even the heavens to reject him.
"Seven days," seven different voices pulsed outwards in a strange harmony, originating from seven different towers across the galaxy.
Wei Wuyin felt genuine derision in his heart. If it was him, he would have attacked without hesitation.
Seven days? Opportunities were fleeting, and all obstacles in one's path should be obliterated. Regardless of his thoughts, Yue Baoyue's eyes looked at Wei Wuyin with a tinge of gratefulness. He didn't need to do this. Subconsciously, she felt that he was reliable despite seizing her greatest fortune.
Wei Wuyin shook his head slightly, both towards those retreating senses and perceptions and towards Yue Baoyue's thoughts. What type of nonsense was this woman thinking about? Did she think that he was going to take her cauldron and her body?
"But there's something I don't quite understand," Imentet took the mantle of her job as a commentator once again as she brought everyone's tense heart back to normal with her pleasant voice.
Hao Chengxue's breathing was extremely heavy. Wei Wuyin's aura of annihilation felt like a death sentence was pressing against his soul and mind. Clearly, he and the other players were the only ones targeted by that aura, given a warning to not be reckless within his palace. He tried to regain himself, "What is it, Lady Imentet?"
Imentet was unaffected by the aura, and her awe towards these events was veering onto expected territory, so her emotions stabilized swiftly.
"Why did Daoist Su suffer nine Mythical Punishments? Wasn't there only three for a single Chosen's death?"
Hao Chengxue steadied his breath and fluctuating aura, easing back into his primary duty—commentating. "Oh? Right! With how knowledgeable you are, Lady Imentet, I forget that you're from a different galaxy that doesn't play a lot of Mystics. You see, Mystics: Royale has a unique ruling that is only triggered in the scenario of winning by points. It's rare but possible. And as you can see, the Neo-Dawn Alchemic Saint had achieved victory through just that!
"The player that grants the final points contribution to the victory has all their Chosen killed, and they can't personally use any means to survive them. It's a harsh punishment," Hao Chengxue explained.
"But Su Yi only had two Chosen?" Imentet questioned with a curious glint in her eyes. The last Chosen was selected after realizing that Wei Wuyin was dominating the early game, an older woman and not a young child.
"That's a formality. Similar to how none of the late World-Saint Intersetoxin's Chosen were killed yet were all declared deceased due to his failure to meet the wager, this is akin to that. All of his Chosen, both selected and unselected to the maximum quantity are considered deceased.
"Normally, this wouldn't matter, but the special conditions established were special for this game. In fact, if you played enough Mystic: Royale, you'd soon learn that the most common Special Conditions made are those that increase the player's wager upon a Chosen's death or losing Mystic Cards. This was only a twist on that. A rather vicious twist."
Imentet was enlightened. She was curious why no one questioned and everyone expected him to suffer nine or ten punishments in the Spiritual Network. There were no shocked reactions after the third punishment!
"If the Neo-Dawn Alchemic Saint hadn't found and destroyed the Mythical Contract when he did, then Su Yi would also have to cripple himself. This was likely what Tianshi Ya had in mind when she made her special condition contingent on all Chosen deaths." Hao Chengxue felt his rhythm return, and he was much more relaxed.
Sun Jiazhen took the lead at this moment, "The Mystical Judges of this game of Mystics: Royale has determined the game has reached a proper conclusion. I thank all the players for participating. If you have any queries or complaints, please direct them to the host of this game."
Shang Liu, Lady Missulena, and Sun Jiazhen formally concluded their service as Mystical Judges, bringing a curtain over this game.
"Thank you for your service," the six remaining players, excluding the unconscious Su Yi, each gave a formal clasp of their hands toward the three judges. This was a formal show of appreciation and a great sign of respect.
Wei Wuyin sent a gaze at the five players. "Seven days," he reminded each of them of their loss, including the valuation of his final wager. They had seven days as well. If not, he was well within his rights to destroy all expectations of decorum and respect. "Now, get out of my palace."
Grand Seer Rippledark looked at Su Yi's unconscious body held in the embrace of a beauty, and he felt extremely happy. In the end, Su Yi had ignited his Mystic Soul. He couldn't help but gratefully look at Wei Wuyin, clasping his hands out of a sign of thankfulness. After all, he waited for the sixth to impact before shredding the Mythical Contract in his hands. That was enough. And when the time came, he could end this bastard's life after subjecting him to tortures of the most inhumane variety. He departed with an uncharastically bright smile.
Wei Wuyin ignored Grand Seer Rippledark, not even giving him a glance of acknowledgement.
Qin Yingyin's gaze stayed on Wei Wuyin for a while. She sensed the Mystic Force yet again. This was definitely a proxy by which the real Neo-Dawn Alchemic Saint was using to execute his Laws.
But those Laws…
Space.
Time.
Imperial.
And it felt as if there was an additional forbidden Law as well but she wasn't certain. If she knew that Wei Wuyin had the Law of Annihilation, she would be unable to contain her emotions. She held all her questions in her heart, clasped her hands in a unique sign of respect to Wei Wuyin, and then departed from the palace.
Tianshi Ya's eyes focused on Wei Wuyin. This man had overturned the schemes against him, becoming the final winner, and then displayed an unprecedented level of strength and confidence in a foreign galaxy. Why the Seven Utmost Towers haven't taught him a lesson yet…she was unsure. She couldn't help but glance at Lady Missulena and Sun Jiazhen. The Arachnids and the Incandescent Star Palace…it was clear they had connections with this foreigner to an extraordinary level, and this made him shrouded in great mystery. In the end, she could only keep her thoughts to herself and be happy that she escaped this room alive. She left as well.
Wei Wuyin calmly looked at Yue Baoyue and Su Yi, "You can stay for seven days. When my prizes are given, that'll be the last day of your sanctuary within my Original Dawn Palace. That said, if you have a way to instigate a Supreme Sage to come here to die, then I might extend that for a little while." Wei Wuyin's starry eyes surged with a frightening, intense light as if he wanted to slaughter a Supreme Sage of the Utmost Purity Galaxy to establish himself.
Moreover, those words were not hidden, so those in the Spiritual Network and beyond observing heard every word…
Yue Baoyue's expression became strange. She shook her head.
"What a pity," Wei Wuyin sighed. Then, his gaze lifted to the Spiritual Projections.
"The Spiritual Network will close in three days. You can use this time to experience the vast galactic communication, speaking to those quintillions of miles away from you, exchanging insights, and meeting those you might have only heard of in whispers." After declaring this, Wei Wuyin shut off the Spiritual Connection to the room.
Imentet appeared beside him with a dazzling smile. She didn't need to be told, already willing to act as Su Yi and Yue Baoyue's in-house aid. Wei Wuyin didn't speak, simply walked toward the door.
Behind him, the three judges appeared, each with varying expressions. All four of them left together. There was much to discuss. Suddenly, only three figures were in the room: Su Yi, Yue Baoyue, and Imentet.
"Shall we bring him to a recuperation chamber to rest?" Imentet offered. Yue Baoyue's eyes brightened. The recuperation chamber of a Supreme Sage?!
-----
Suo Haoran held Tianshi Ya's hand on her void vessel. She was the one to take the initiative to do so, so his expression was one of shock, excitement, and joy. When he saw her warm eyes looking upon him, he felt as if his True Soul might melt.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Suo Haoran froze for a moment. Then, it dawned on him why she was so intimate. A strange bitterness suffused his heart, and he wryly smiled in response. As he recalled his and the Zenith Creation Tower's dealings with the foreigner, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart. If his plans worked, the dynamic of the Utmost Purity Galaxy would change forever…
-----
Qin Yingyin was in the void vessel of the Shadow Veil. She kneeled before a shadowy figure of pure darkness. "I suspect…that the Neo-Dawn Alchemic Saint we see is a proxy, the foundation of which must be a unique physique-possessing Mystic Star Phase cultivator that can house the will of a Supreme Sage and act as a proper medium for his Laws."
"Proxy?" The voice was as grim and dusky as night itself, hard to describe but impossible to forget.
"You're wrong. That was the Neo-Dawn Alchemic Saint."
"What?!" Qin Yingyin's voice trembled.
"You've solved a mystery that is plaguing the upper echelons of this galaxy," the shadowy figure said.
"What mystery?" Qin Yingyin asked with a quiver in her throat.
"The mystery of: What is this foreigner's cultivation base? Some speculate he's beyond a Microheaven Envoy, under heavy restrictions preventing him from acting unless provoked like the Guardian Divinity of the former No-Name Galaxy. Others have speculated that he's all bluff and bluster, nothing more. A mere pathetic cultivator relying on Supreme Heavenly Treasures that have been mutated in some ungodly manner, emulating the powers of the Major Authority of Laws, all while blessed with fortune.
"Now we know…"
"Now we know?" Qin Yingyin felt as if those three words would decide the final fate of Shadow Veil.
