Wan Ling’s eyes turned hesitant; Lei Ranyu didn’t interrupt them, nor did she ask about what was inside the secret realm.
In the end, Wan Ling took a deep breath, “Brother Yuan, Sister Ranyu, and I have decided to team up in the Mystique Realm. I will travel with her. I can only be a hindrance if I follow you.”
Shen Yuan became silent; he didn’t want to lie to her and say it wouldn’t be the case; they both knew very well the power difference between them.
He softly nodded, “I understand.” He gave her a long hug before leaving in a different direction and vanishing among the sea of trees.
Lei Ranyu looked at his fading back before taking Wan Ling’s hand and leading her away from the Wall of Comprehension.
The Thunder Cloud Sect’s disciples’ eyes flashed, looking at the departing back of Shen Yuan and Wan Ling.
…
“Ling’er, why didn’t you tell him about the technique you received from the Wall of Comprehension? I’m sure he would have been happy to learn what you got.” Lei Ranyu asked in confusion.
Wan Ling sweetly smiled, “It doesn’t matter, he didn’t ask me about it. That means he knows that I won’t disappoint him.”
Lei Ranyu felt something sour in her heart; she had never had such a relationship with anyone. Ever since she was young, her parents sent her to the Radiant Lotus Sacred Sect to learn.
But she couldn’t fault them, as it was her dream to join the sect ever since she was young, and never once did she regret her decision. However, now she felt a bit of jealousy towards her younger martial sister who joined the sect much later but had everything one could ask for.
A high position, a loving husband, and a good family.
“Sigh…your fate is really enviable.” Lei Ranyu said after thinking about all of these things.
Wan Ling looked taken aback by the sudden words. But she understood what she meant as soon as she looked at Lei Ranyu’s eyes.
She smiled and nodded, “Yes, my fate is indeed enviable. I’m really lucky that I got such a good husband.”
Lei Ranyu exhaled a sigh and genuinely smiled, “Well, I can only be envious of you. Or should I start chasing after Shen Yuan as well?” She looked at Wan Ling, wondering whether she would be defensive about it or not.
Wan Ling smiled at her, “Well, you can try, you have my best wishes if you can be successful. I will get a new sister.”
Lei Ranyu raised an eyebrow, not expecting her to be so open-minded about it.
They continued chatting while Lei Ranyu continued asking questions about Shen Yuan.
…
“Hehe, those two are really alone. That brat left for somewhere else. If I can kill them, then I will be able to raise my standing in the sect.” The Thunder Cloud Sect disciple eyed Wan Ling and Lei Ranyu from far away.
“That bastard Ren Ke is really a pussy. He ran away as soon as Shen Yuan exited the portal. Well, this is good as well, I can take all the credit now.”
He took out a bow and aimed at Wan Ling, “Their bond is really good, it would be a pity to kill them.” He smiled while stretching his bowstring.
But before he could release the arrow, a voice sounded from behind him, “Indeed, it will be a pity to kill the two of them.”
The Thunder Cloud Sect disciple’s heart nearly stopped beating as the cold, calm voice sounded once again from behind him.
“Where are you aiming?”
He spun around frantically, releasing his arrow, but it pierced through empty air, hitting nothing but a phantom image that quickly dispersed. His eyes widened in shock and disbelief, his instincts screaming danger.
“Void Steps,” Shen Yuan softly whispered, calmly materializing behind him once more, as if stepping through the fabric of space itself. His gaze was frosty, calm, and piercingly cold.
“You… how?!” the disciple sputtered, utterly bewildered by Shen Yuan’s mysterious movement technique.
Shen Yuan didn’t reply, only smiling faintly with amusement. He gently raised his palm, space twisting around it in visible ripples as his Spatial Intent surged.
A powerful pressure descended upon the Thunder Cloud Sect disciple, making his knees tremble uncontrollably as Shen Yuan solidified the space around him.
“You wanted to ambush Wan Ling and Lei Ranyu?” Shen Yuan’s voice was chillingly soft, carrying an underlying fury. “Seems like the Thunder Cloud Sect has gotten too daring lately.”
He didn’t mention how he had killed all four disciples of their sect recently.
The disciple gritted his teeth, mustering all his courage, and shouted defiantly, “You—don’t think that just because you are a little mysterious, our sect elders won’t hunt you down if you harm me!”
Shen Yuan chuckled softly, his eyes narrowing dangerously, “Is that so? But, who said anyone would find out?”
Before the disciple could react, Shen Yuan’s figure blurred again, leaving multiple afterimages. Panic surged in the disciple’s heart, desperately trying to take out his token to get out of there.
Bang!
A powerful strike hit him squarely on his back, causing him to cough up blood. Before he could react, Shen Yuan appeared in front of him again, an amused smirk on his face.
“Looking for this?” Shen Yuan smirked and showed the disciple a token that he was all too familiar with. “Looks like the Thunder Cloud Sect disciples are really trash.” He taunted, casually cracking his knuckles. “Is this all you’ve got?”
“You—!!” The disciple, now thoroughly enraged with a bit of despair, summoned all his Qi, manifesting his own Dao Armor filled with flickering lightning Qi. But Shen Yuan was already prepared.
“Oceanic Dragon Armor,” Shen Yuan muttered softly. Instantly, crystal-clear water Qi surged from his body, wrapping around him in glistening waves that quickly formed into brilliant azure dragon scales. But he didn’t stop there.
“Dao Armor!” he commanded calmly, and another profound energy erupted, layering atop the Oceanic Dragon Armor, exuding an ancient, profound Dao presence of two physiques.
After cultivating in front of the Wall of Comprehension, not only had his comprehension of techniques improved, but also of Physiques. He could now make the Dao Armor with two physiques.
The Thunder Cloud Sect disciple stared at Shen Yuan in disbelief, watching in horror as the monstrous armors completely eclipsed his own lightning Qi.
“You—what kind of monster are you?!” he shouted, despair creeping into his heart.
Shen Yuan didn’t bother answering, instead calmly raising one hand into the air, his oceanic energy surging. He formed a mysterious seal, gently pushing forward.
“Oceanic Dragon Scripture: Water Prison Formation.”
As his words echoed softly, the entire area trembled. Countless streams of water surged upward from beneath their feet, twisting and merging into thick, heavy walls of torrential water.
Within seconds, a massive water barrier, filled with powerful dragon runes, rose and completely enclosed Shen Yuan and the Thunder Cloud Sect disciple, isolating them from the outside world.
The Thunder Cloud Sect disciple’s face turned pale. He frantically launched strikes against the barrier, but the water merely rippled harmlessly, absorbing every attack without a scratch.
