Sam spent the whole day relaxing.
He and the beasts had a real feast and they acted as if the rest of the people are not even there. Sandhya wanted to talk to him desperately. After all, her mother asked her to bring Sam to the mountain if there really is a disaster.
But she couldn't find a breaking point.
By night, she could only bring herself to forcefully break their enjoyment.
"Sam I need to speak to you about something important?"
"Can it wait?"
"No."
"Sure, go ahead."
"My mother is the head of the Mountain Temple. She holds the most power in all of this planet. She told me to bring you to the mountain temple as a guest if a disaster really occurred here."
Sam stayed silent for a moment and asked.
"Is she powerful enough to gather the clans and arrange a meeting of sorts?"
"More than powerful. Even I can do that."
"Sure then. We can go right away. If that is okay."
"Okay, okay More than okay." Sandhya was ecstatic when she got a positive reply.
"Guys, we are going to her place. Let's go."
The beasts immediately got up and ready. Sam didn't use the dimensional drifter. He got up on the back of the Sky as all the beasts decided to fly there. Since other beasts also can fly along with the birds from now on, they want to experience this traveling.
The entourage is also mostly comprised of Divine Plane cultivators, so everyone decided to fly.
As they travelled in the night sky Sam took out his flute and started playing. He is a bit happy. Beasts were locked in the tower for way too long, it is about time they come out and play like this. He just felt relieved and free as he moved in that night sky.
The beasts were all cheerful as well.
After travelling for a while, they arrived at the Mountain temple. Sam and the beasts were invited respectfully, the young masters not so much, but they were delighted to just be able to step into the temple.
They all arrived at the main hall, where Sandhya's mother was already waiting for them.
She looked at Sam who is in the lead. The beasts were left outside the main hall, but she still saw them.
She stepped forward and extended her hand.
"Hello, nice to meet you. I am the Priestess of the Mountain Temple. You can address me as the Priestess."
"Hello, I am Sam."
"Thank you for successfully defending against the disaster of Makar Clan.
The Makar clan definitely owes you a lot." She said casually before guiding Sam to take a seat. She also took her seat and continued the conversation. She ignored the rest of the young masters and didn't even bother to talk to her daughter.
"If you don't mind, may I know how you came to know about this disaster and why you are helping the people of this planet?"
"It is definitely not out of some noble desire. I am here on a mission. The person who gave that mission to me gave that information about the disasters and I am here to defend against them. My mission is to save as many lives as possible and with every life that was taken away during my time here, my reward will be reduced.
That is why, these brats are alive by the way."
Sam said as he looked at the young masters.
Now they understood why Sam stopped when he did.
They gulped nervously and thanked the person who issued the mission.
"Is it possible for you to reveal the person who gave you this mission?"
Sam smiled and said.
"I can, it is just that I don't know if you will believe me."
"Try me."
"Your god, Karthikeya."
Sam said with a smile as he looked an engraving of Karthikeya on the wall.
Since it is his temple, there are bound to be engravings of his on the walls. As soon as he entered that is the first thing he noticed.
"Oh, didn't expect that." Priestess was calmer than Sam thought she would be. She is very accepting of the situation.
"It is good that you believed so easily. It would have been a real pain to convince you that I am telling the truth. It is most thankless task to do.
But I think it is about to change after I met these kids."
Sam once again took a jab at the young masters.
"So, why did you give you this mission?"
Sam inhaled with a smile and said.
"I don't think I can tell you that. It is better left unsaid. All you need to do is, Karthikeya sent a very capable man here to help you all with this scenario."
"Alright, I understand. So, is this the end of the disaster?"
"Yeah, the end of the first one, in a few days the second one will start."
"How many are they?"
"Ten in total. Before you ask, what they are, I don't know either. At least I don't know it yet. I will get the information of the next immediate disaster and I would only have two days time.
Even then I wouldn't know what disaster it is, only where the disaster is going to strike."
"But you still made a pretty good guess with the first disaster."
"Come on, anyone with half a brain can do it. The city is beside the sea. It couldn't get any more obvious and easy than that."
"That's true in a way."
The conversation was pretty straightforward. Sam really liked this woman more than her daughter. Priestess is completely straightforward without any bullshit.
"If you don't mind me asking, what is the story behind the beasts? They are all of very high bloodlines and they are all with you. In fact, I am actually sensing an aura very similar to those beasts on you too which is very surprising to be honest."
"Well, it is a long story and goes back decades. Even if it is written into a book it might take more than 3 million words to say it."
"Then I shouldn't have asked. Its fine.
I would like to suggest a proposal to you."
"I am all ears."
"Since you are here to help the people of our planet, we should obviously help ourselves by helping you. I would send invitations to all the major clans so that you can talk to them tomorrow. They would be here by dawn.
I certainly don't know what kind of preparations you would need, but you can tell us your requirements and we will try to comply as much as possible. Sandhya will be accompanying you along the journey during all of these disasters.
When you are on the move, she will act as a communication point between you and me."
"Are you sure Sandhya is necessary? Is there any other way for us to be in touch?"
Sam asked without hesitation.
"Why? Is her ability not up to par? She is very decent with formations and since that seemed to be one of your major methods to deal with the disasters, I am sure she would be of help."
"Of course, her ability is decent enough, I wouldn't dare take that away from her, but she is a bit annoying and while you are at it, you can get rid of these brats too."
"We can talk about that in tomorrow's meeting. Tonight, let's have a small banquet. Think of it as me treating you for the disaster you have alleviated."
"That would be my pleasure. Also, can you tell your temple people to not to eye my beasts like that? It is rather uncomfortable for them. I had the same problem with Sandhya by the way."
"Forgive me for not teaching my people properly. I will make sure to correct their behavior."
The conversation was then shifted to the dinner table. It was just some small talk. But Priestess knew what to ask and what not to ask. She didn't just bother him unnecessarily and she didn't try to brown-nose him either.
It was a pleasant talk between two adults. He finally felt like he is talking to someone with some brain cells.
That night went on just like that. Sam went into the mountains enjoying the scenery while playing the flute.
He is not disturbed by Sandhya or any other young masters.
Meanwhile, Priestess went deeper into the temple where Karthikeya's statue is and sat in front of it before performing a ritual to summon him.
Karthikeya's silhouette appeared and he spoke with a smile.
"It seems like you have met the guy that came there. He is good isn't he?"
"What is happening? Why didn't you warn me about the disasters?"
"It is not my place to do so."
"But it is your place to send him on a mission to save us?"
Her tone is very casual even though she is speaking to a god. Almost as if they are friends.
