Reborn as a Transcendent
Chapter 628: Let's Enjoy Literary ♀ Masterpieces TogetherLeave a comment ⇐ PreviousNext ⇒
"Ugh, I’m so bored. My heart feels so empty," Saintess Irene sighed, sprawled out on her bed as she gazed blankly at the ceiling.
For Irene, life felt like pure torture without her beloved erotic novels.
“I just want to enjoy my literary masterpieces again… I miss my adorable little cuties,” she muttered longingly.
At that moment, Irene resembled a lifeless fish, completely drained of motivation. It was true what they said—you only realize the value of something once it’s gone.
Although her precious novels weren’t truly lost, not being able to read them whenever she wanted was still infuriating. She couldn’t help but reminisce about the good old days when she could grab a book from under her bed anytime she pleased.
"Maybe I should just go find the Princess myself…" Irene pondered. Waiting for Yaeger to visit was proving fruitless, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
But just as she was about to get up, a soft click echoed through the room, followed by the slow creak of her door opening.
‘A thief?’ Irene’s senses sharpened as she quickly sat up.
Irene leapt out of bed, eyes locked on the door. A divine hammer manifested in her hands, poised to strike. Her tension eased the moment she recognized the intruder. Sighing in exasperation, she lowered the hammer. "Don’t you know how to knock?"The intruder, now safely inside, flashed a cheeky smile. “Sure, sure. I’ll knock next time. But if someone catches me standing around knocking, well… that’s not on me.”
“Hmm, fair point. You’re probably better off sneaking in directly,” Irene admitted with a nod.
“You must be bored out of your mind. Here.” Yaeger pulled a decorative book from her spatial ring and handed it to Irene.
Irene’s eyes sparkled with delight the moment she saw the book.
It was the exact book she had been craving: Lonely Thoughts: Sleepless Nights—Please Restrain Yourself, Sister.
“My precious baby, welcome home!” Irene squealed, hugging the book tightly before pressing it affectionately against her face.
Yaeger sat down on the bed and turned her gaze to Irene. “Any news on Aurora?”
“No problem at all! I’m personally overseeing everything,” Irene said confidently, patting her chest.
“That’s good to hear,” Yaeger nodded. Her main purpose for visiting was to check on Aurora—and to recharge Irene’s spirit.
After all, Irene was a Saintess driven by her indecent fantasies. Without occasional indulgence, she would eventually wither away.
“Princess, you’re not leaving right away, are you?” Irene asked, clutching her precious novel as her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
“Not so soon. You can read to your heart’s content,” Yaeger replied with a warm smile.
Kastina was monitoring the auction house, while Yunuen and Little Fairy were still away from the city. For now, there was nothing pressing to worry about.
“That’s awesome! Time for a full reading marathon!” Irene flopped face-down onto the bed, exclaiming with joy.
“Go ahead, read to your heart’s content,” Yaeger said softly, lying on her side and propping her chin with one hand, her eyes focused on Irene.
Irene, who had just flipped to the first page, paused and glanced at Yaeger, momentarily speechless. She wasn’t used to having someone stare at her while she read.
In truth, most people would find it uncomfortable too. It was even worse considering she was reading a lewd novel. How was she supposed to focus with someone disrupting her reading and ruining the immersion?
"Princess, could you maybe sit on the sofa instead? Or go lie down on the bed? I can’t read properly with you staring at me," Irene requested politely.
It was her room, yet she had absolutely no control over the situation—how tragic.
“No, I like how you look when you’re reading your lewd novel,” Yaeger replied nonchalantly.
After being teased relentlessly by Allie earlier, Yaeger needed to assert her dominance somewhere else to restore her sense of superiority. Of course, this hardly counted as actual bullying.
Besides, they shared a close bond, so teasing like this was normal.
Irene’s face flushed red, and panic flared within her.
‘What does she mean by that? Meanie!’
She shook her head frantically. “No way! I can’t read like this!”
“Yeah, that’s no good at all,” Yaeger agreed with a nod.
“Exactly! So you should—” Irene began but was promptly interrupted.
“Why don’t you read it out loud? I’m curious about the story too. Let’s enjoy it together,” Yaeger suggested casually.
‘What is she, a demon?’ Irene gawked, utterly flabbergasted.
It was bad enough having someone watch her read a lewd novel, but now she was supposed to read it out loud? This was nothing short of a public execution!
“It’s settled then—you’ll read it out loud,” Yaeger declared, patting Irene’s shoulder with finality.
“Can I refuse?” Irene asked, her voice filled with sorrow.
“Sure.”
A wave of relief washed over Irene. See? The Princess still cares about me.
But in the very next moment… Yaeger pulled a small bead, about the size of a ping-pong ball, from her ring and infused it with energy. It began to glow faintly.
“W-What’s that supposed to be?” Irene asked nervously.
“It’s a recording crystal. I’ll capture every moment of you reading your lewd novel and enjoy it later at home,” Yaeger stated with unnerving calm.
It was a high-quality tool acquired from the auction house—far from cheap.
“Are you a pervert!?” Irene shouted, her face burning red.
“You have two options: read the novel out loud, or let me record you reading it.” Yaeger delivered the ultimatum with a sly grin.
“Can’t I just refuse both?” Irene whimpered.
“Nope. I’ll count to three. If you haven’t chosen by then, you’ll do both.” Yaeger smirked wickedly. “Three… Two…”
Before Yaeger could finish counting, Irene gave in. “I-I’ll read it out loud! Fine! Is that good enough?” she said with a tone of resignation.
Faced with the options, Irene would rather read the lewd novel out loud than be recorded. After all, being recorded meant her every move would be captured!
‘This meanie already knows my secret anyway… Fine, I’ll just read it!’ Irene shot Yaeger a sharp glare, rolled her eyes, and flipped to the second page before reluctantly beginning to read aloud.
Fortunately, Alicia’s lewd novel wasn’t overly explicit. Instead, it was written with an elegant style, immersing readers in its story.
At first, Yaeger found the situation amusing. However, as she listened, she was gradually drawn into the story’s rich worldbuilding. Like Irene, she became overwhelmed by the emotional rollercoaster of sorrow, passion, and joy.
Meanwhile, at the Adventurers’ Guild…
Left hook! Right hook! Uppercut! Straight punch! Hidden strike! Relentless combo!
Taurus and S.K.Y. were caught in a verbal onslaught from Vanessa. Under the relentless barrage of her arguments, they were metaphorically beaten down with no hope of recovery—it was a pitiful sight.
If Vanessa had been a typical extremist, they might have been able to counter her arguments. But she was a sharp, well-spoken professional with no weaknesses.
First, the Yang family operated under a matriarchal structure and wielded considerable influence and wealth in their region. Vanessa had grown up with a strong sense of superiority.
Second, Vanessa wasn’t a mere advocate for women’s rights—she fought for true equality.
Third, Vanessa’s debate skills had been honed through countless battles on social media, making her an unassailable force in any argument.
With such credentials, it was no surprise that Taurus and S.K.Y. were losing miserably.
‘Damn it! I didn’t even say anything, and I’m still getting dragged into this!’ S.K.Y. sighed internally, feeling utterly drained. He hadn’t done anything wrong, yet here he was, suffering anyway.
Maybe he was being targeted simply because he was a man? The thought sent chills down S.K.Y.’s spine. He trembled as cold sweat drenched his body despite the warm temperature.
Just as S.K.Y. gathered the courage to speak up, a melodic voice echoed from outside the hall.
“Excuse me, is [Prodigal Master Huadu] present?”
Taurus nearly wept with joy. This person’s arrival couldn’t have been timed more perfectly! Since he couldn’t win the argument, he seized the opportunity to end the confrontation altogether.
“Vanessa, your words have left a deep impression on me. Thank you for your wise guidance. I’d love to continue listening, but unfortunately, someone’s looking for me. It sounds urgent,” he added, quickly glancing toward the entrance as if in a rush.
A stunning woman in her twenties, dressed in elegant oriental robes, entered the hall and walked gracefully toward Taurus.
With a single glance, Taurus recognized her as a high-ranking receptionist from the Imperial Auction House—one who catered exclusively to VVIP clients. The others quickly recognized the distinctive uniform from the Imperial Auction House and exchanged puzzled looks.
‘Why is someone from the Imperial Auction House here?’
Vanessa, too, was visibly perplexed. She had heard of the Imperial Auction House’s reputation but had never visited it herself, leaving her clueless as to why one of their elite staff would be seeking Taurus.
Taurus, however, seemed to understand the reason for her presence and felt a surge of satisfaction.
“Good day, Mister [Prodigal Master of Huadu]. I am Lilian, a high-class receptionist from the Imperial Auction House,” the woman introduced herself with a polite bow.
Lilian stepped closer, gracefully retrieved a beautifully decorated invitation letter from her purse, and presented it to Taurus.
“This is your invitation to the special auction being held this afternoon at our Imperial Auction House. Please accept it, Mister [Prodigal Master of Huadu],” she said warmly.
At her words, the reason for her visit became immediately clear to everyone. She was here specifically to deliver an invitation to Taurus!
Is this how VIPs are treated?
But no—that couldn’t be the case. There were other VIP1 members present. Yet none of them had received such special treatment. It was evident that this level of service was reserved solely for high-tier VIPs.
Under the envious gazes of the crowd, Taurus felt like the center of the universe—the radiant moon surrounded by countless admiring stars. He basked in the feeling of being someone truly exceptional.
At that moment, he was so elated he almost wanted to burst into song.
After Taurus accepted the ornate invitation, Lilian gracefully bowed again and made her exit. The hall fell into a hushed silence. The air seemed thick with envy as many onlookers simmered in silent jealousy.
Satisfied with the attention he had garnered, Taurus scanned the room one last time before calmly returning to his seat.
Just then, another person entered the hall. It was a frail-looking man clad in the same Imperial Auction House uniform. Holding a stack of crumpled invitation letters, he began calling out names in a timid voice.
It became clear that he was there to distribute more invitation letters. The players whose names were called exchanged glances and sighed in resignation. Truly, comparison was the thief of joy.
Although they were all VIPs, the disparity in their treatment was glaringly obvious.
The members of [Death of Love] quickly noticed the stark contrast and burst into laughter.
Vanessa blinked in surprise at the scene. She stared at Taurus with a renewed seriousness, as though reevaluating him.
‘I haven’t seen him in a while… Looks like he’s changed,’ she thought to herself.
She sensed a subtle shift in him—a newfound aura of authority. It was an aura she had never noticed in him before.
