Chapter 421: Vial
As he opened the box, he only saw one thing inside.
It was an opaque glass vial that was colored dark green, about as thick and as long as his pinky finger, with a cork to top it off.
After inspecting it with his Supreme Skill and saw no sign of Poison mana inside the bottle, Michael picked it up and started to inspect it against the light.
He was very careful. He didn’t know if something inside the bottle would react upon shaking it, just like how a carbonated drink could explode when shaken.
Upon first look, Michael was a little bit confused. After all, he saw nothing inside the glass vial, making him think that it was empty.
But upon closer inspection, he noticed that there was a very small amount of liquid settling at the very bottom of the vial. The amount was so small that he thought it was just part of the glass design at the bottom. However, when he tilted it a little bit, the few droplets of liquid slowly flowed down the glass walls of the vial.
From what he could see, the liquid was clear. But, this definitely wasn’t water. It was too thick and viscous to be water. It almost looked like oil with its consistency.
And it was at that moment Michael realized what he was probably holding. He wasn’t sure, as if he hadn’t seen it before, but if he were to guess, then this was most probably a vial of the Spirit of Old!
[I have no information that would confirm your suspicion.] answered ChatJK4, slightly ruining his pleasant mood.
How could it not be Soo? Flarexis took all of this effort to hide it here. He wouldn’t do that with just a simple treasure.
Of course, he could never really be sure that it was the Spirit of Old. The only way was to speak to a person who had already seen Soo in person.
Virian came to mind as she was the original one who had helped him get knowledge about Maugnetics in general. Seberus could have also seen one himself, given his position within the Guild of Arcana as one of their Mystic Masters.
He decided to go keep it for now and see if it was genuine or not.
But even if he wasn’t sure, Michael still made sure to be careful with the vial as he handled it. This was potentially a priceless treasure worth probably in the hundred millions or billions even.
He wasn’t going to take the chance, even if it just turned out to be normal oil.
He used his shadow skill to wrap itself around the vial, making sure that it was securely placed. This would make sure that the vial wouldn’t accidentally topple upside down as Michael teleported back to the Nation of Reborn.
With his preparations finished, he immediately turned into a shadow and left the underground tunnel.
…
…
…
As he teleported, he immediately heard a mix of horrified screaming and excited cheering as landed backstage of the Roller Coaster Park, which was now home to the Fairies who feasted on all the emotions getting thrown around from the people in motion.
He walked through the backdoor of the main control systems, finding the engineers and the operating manager of the very ride itself.
Not only that, but there was also a certain Fairy lounging on the window with a book in her hands as she watched her fellow Fairies have a feast.
“Virian, can we talk?”
The old Fairy didn’t hesitate and nodded.
Michael then motioned for the engineers to temporarily leave the room so that they could have privacy.
“What is it?”
Without further ado, Michael’s shadow floated out from his feet and revealed a cylindrical bulge in its limb. The shadow slowly uncovered from the top, revealing the cork and the dark green vial containing the strange liquid oil substance.
Virian immediately turned serious as she observed the vial. This was good news for Michael because it looked like she recognized it.
“Is it?” Michael asked.
Virian floated towards the vial, knocking on its glass and watching as the liquid reacted to her motion.
She nodded, saying; “There’s no doubt about it. This is a vial of the Spirit of Old. There’s about 4 drops of them here. Where did you get it?”
“I found it,” Michael said, before explaining to her about Flarexis and Batchrock Town.
“I see. Then it makes even more sense. It seems that Flarexis was trying to upgrade his Mithril Relic to accommodate his 4th stage Diva, that’s why he got four drops of Soo.”
Michael reigned in his excitement over finding four drops of Soo. He didn’t know how much that was or how valuable it was, but getting his hands on just a single drop was already good enough in his books.
“Do I need to worry about hauling this around? Will it explode or something?”
Virian shook her head. “The Spirit of Old is quite resilient. As long as you don’t spill it on the ground or on any surface, then it will be fine. In general, it’s good to keep Soo in that original vial until you’re ready to use it.
That glass vial is forged from the very depths of the ocean, making it the only surface that can handle the Spirit of Old without reacting to it.”
Now, Michael would never waste even a drop of Soo, but he couldn’t help but get curious.
“What happens if I spill it?” he asked.
“According to the scrolls, the Soo will make any surface it touches become as hard as Mithril. Although Mithril is the strongest metal in the world, it’s very wasteful to use Soo in order to make it.”
Michael was even more sure he wasn’t going to waste the Soo. He could make as many Mithril Artifacts as he wanted. But Soo was always going to be in limited quantity, unless of course, he could get in contact with the Ocean King, but that was a pipe dream.
“Thanks, Virian. I appreciate the help.”
Michael left Virian to her own and transported himself over to Seberus’ private house in the Nation of Reborn.
The old man had chosen quite a spot for himself, having a backyard with a pond with fishes. And he didn’t know where he got the idea from, but his house looked like one of those old japanese houses made for ancient samurais with tatami flooring and wooden canopies.
“Ahh. Michael. To what do I owe the pleasure?” Seberus asked, looking at peace as he sat cross legged in the middle of his pond.
“I just wanted to get your opinion.”
“On what?”
“On what I should do next. How can I apply Soo to my Mithril Artifact?”
Seberus opened one of his eyes, intrigued. “So you have made your own Mithril Artifact. That’s nice. What did you choose? A wand, I hope?”
Michael reached down his pocket and took out a block of metal that looked like the same shape as a gold bar.
Then, he tossed the block over to Seberus for him to inspect.
The old man watched as the block of metal came over towards him. His eyes tried to discern what kind of weapon it was, but found that it didn’t look like anything he had ever seen before.
And just before it landed on Seberus’ palms, the Drone suddenly burst into life, revealing its four propellers on the corner sides and buzzing up and away from Seberus, startling him.
“What the fu—”
His words were cut off by the drone’s sound.
