Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?
Chapter 1605 1605: Bonds Over Bread—–
“…”
Agua remained mostly in silence as she heard her friends talking, wishing she could have met them earlier, so she could speak to them like this too.
The way they spoke so casually, commented about things and more, they were all signs of a friendship that had lasted at least a year, the familiarity was palpable, and something she secretly was jealous of, a bit.
She knew her feelings were wrong, so she suppressed them, she was happy that they befriended her to begin with but…
She couldn’t help but feel lonely sometimes, even when surrounded by people.
“So Aquarina is going to leave?” She thought. “After the inheritance trial she’ll do, she will leave…”
She sighed, gripping her fists tightly, her mother noticed her expression instantly, but didn’t say anything. She knew how her daughter was, and she also knew that saying anything now would only make things worse.
“I was thinking on taking another week before doing the inheritance though, is it fine mom?” Asked Aquarina out of nowhere, grabbing a piece of bread and dipping it on the spicy sauce, before eating it up with a single bite and drinking some juice. “Phew!”
“It’s okay… but why?” Nepheline asked, crossing her arms as she glanced at her daughter’s eyes, she quickly realized something was up with her again. “Hmm, wait, don’t tell me…!”
She almost guessed what Aquarina wanted, but her daughter took the words out of her mouth.
“I want Agua to join!” Aquarina said, before glancing at Agua and patting her head, smiling at her while drinking more juice afterwards, asking completely carefreely.
“E-Eh? Me?!” Agua gasped.
Agua’s hands trembled, as she saw Aquarina, her eyebrows twitched. She thought very highly of the heroine and everything, but right now, she felt…
Utterly flabbergasted!
Just what was on her mind to invite someone completely unrelated to that trial?
She didn’t even live in Everstone, and she didn’t even had any Earth or Stone Elemental Affinity, so it was pretty useless to go at all.
And yet, Aquarina’s eyes seemed completely focused! She wouldn’t take a “no” for an answered.
Naturally, everyone else sitting around the table were also… quite surprised.
“W-What in the world are you talking about, Aquarina?” Justicio asked. “I don’t want to offend Agua or anything, but we just met her, you know? To decide this out of nowhere, that’s a huge burden for her.”
“I’m sorry Agua, don’t listen to her, Aquarina sometimes talks a lot of nonsense,” Silvia patted Agua’s shoulders.
“H-Hey! Don’t look at me like that…” Aquarina muttered. “It was just an idea, to spend a week with her and train her a bit, teach her the ropes and then we go with her. I’m sure she could be a really useful party member for the trial! And last time I heard there’s a limit of four members, so she would be the fourth. Familiars like Pyuku aren’t counted as members, apparently.”
“Huh, so I’m not counted…” Pyuku nodded. “That’s unfair for the trial isn’t it?”
“Well the more the merrier right?” Aquarina giggled. “W-Well, I’m not forcing her or anything, it all ultimately depends on her.”
Aquarina glanced at Agua, who seemed to have fallen silent for a bit… Agua definitely didn’t want to participate in such a dangerous thing. But there was also… something inside of her that actually kind of wanted to do it.
“Um…” Agua didn’t know what to say.
But then, Nepheline and Shade glanced at one another, and they didn’t seem as annoyed as the others about this new proposal.
Even more, Agua’s mother was rather neutral about it.
“Well, it wouldn’t be so bad… If she’s truly as amazing as you said, and her magic is useful…” nodded Nepheline. “Well, it’s all up to her at the end.”
“But we could ask Svana about it,” Shade said.
“Really?!” Aquarina asked. “What about your mom, Agua?”
“I’ll wait for what the Divine Oasis Spirit has to say first,” said Agua’s mother. “And I believe my daughter also wants to hear her words.”
“Y-Yeah…” Agua nodded. “I’m thinking about it, Aquarina… but thank you for considering me! I never thought you would invite me…”
“Ah, sorry, was it too weird or scary? Don’t feel forced, relax,” Aquarina said, patting her shoulders. “If you don’t want to its fine, I just had to ask about it. Also we can still spend the week with you, let’s go on some adventures.”
“Oh, sure!” Agua smiled, feeling excited regarding that.
Having adventures with her new friends was the thing she dreamed about the entire last night, and right now she just wanted to finally step out of the jungle for a damn second.
“Well, I guess it’s not up to us to decide anything either…” Justicio said. “But whatever is your choice, we’ll support it, Agua.”
“Yeah!” Silvia nodded. “You’ve been so lovely with us; I wouldn’t mind bringing you along.”
Despite how they were often called brutes by other people, the people of Everstone were the most kindhearted of them all, they valued friendship and family bonds above all things.
And they also considered friends as their family, seeing them almost in equal terms to a brother, an aunt, or a sister. It wasn’t also weird for children whose parents died in the harsh desert to be immediately adopted without any problems, and sometimes unrelated families would live together in large houses, raising the children of one another.
All of these traditions were mostly born from the teachings of the First Hero of Stone, who was known as a man that was always cheerfully laughing, making jokes, and always valued bonds above all things.
And also because these bonds were the thing that helped Everstonians survive in the harsh Dry Steppes, and what unified them as one of the strongest tribes in the world.
“Thank you…” Agua muttered. “I-It really means a lot to me… your words.”
As Agua enjoyed lunch with her friends, Aquarina’s parents decided to quickly depart once they had their fill, jumping into the oasis’ waters and swimming where Aquarina had told them was the entrance to the underground area.
