Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?
Chapter 1619 1619: Time Traveling?—–
There were several things that intrigued Nepheline and Shade about these people, the Molluskians. Apparently they “came from the future” and also knew of these stairs, but they weren’t allowed to use them, so they never used them.
Which was weird, any other person would’ve tried to walk upstairs eventually, yet for some reason everyone was so obedient. Not even elves were this obedient to a word given to them, yet there wasn’t a single person, not even children, who dared to walk upstairs anyway.
Something was also bugging Nepheline’s mind, which she decided to ask in her next question, looking at the two Molluskians in front of her.
“I have a question for you… Are you not aware your entire city is inside a dungeon right now?” As she asked this question, she quickly noticed something.
“Huh?”
“What’s a dungeon?”
Submarinus nor Elmephie had any idea what that word meant, something that only struck Shade and Nepheline as very suspicious and beyond bizarre.
“D-Does this means you come from an age where dungeons had not even existed yet?” Nepheline asked. “Your people… How far in the past did you live?”
“We don’t really know how much time we moved forward…” Said Submarinus. “We only know that once that happened, we were finally safe from the humans. The outside world to us is quite a mystery, we prefer to live in the city, and we have all our necessities here, so not many of us had ever thought about leaving.”
“Even then… A-Are you serious? Not a single person had tried to leave this whole time?” Shade asked. “Wait, how long has it been since you moved to the future?”
“Hmm, our child wasn’t born yet, so a few hundred years…” Said Elmephie, looking at her child, who was snacking on algae chips and drinking juice.
“T-That much?!” Shade asked.
“And you had not even tried to investigate for a single second what was happening outside?” Nepheline asked.
“We trust our King and the Royal Family on such affairs,” Submarinus smiled gently.
“Indeed, they’re good rulers focused on making us prosper and survive together,” Elmephie nodded.
“…”
“…”
Shade and Nepheline looked at one another, there was something strange about these people. Any normal person, no matter what, would never just blindly trust someone.
Or at least, not literally everyone!
Yeah perhaps a few thousands of hundreds, but the entire population, there isn’t a single person that has doubted their rulers or questioned their situation?
There were currently two conjectures in their minds.
Either these people’s mentalities and societies, and how they grow and develop is very different to any being outside, so their culture clash is intense, and they’re simply like this.
Or… they’re being manipulated, or worse, brainwashed.
“Well, to begin with a Dungeon is…”
Nepheline began to explain to them what a Dungeon was, a how they were formed, and also why perhaps it appeared above their city.
“S-So that’s what a Dungeon is, huh?”
“How terrible…”
Submarinus and Elmephie didn’t even knew about Dungeons from the past they came from, meaning that in such a past, the Evil God of Dungeons had yet to initiate his expansion into the world of Terrarium.
“And we also are underground? Hundreds of meters, if not kilometers below the surface?” Submarinus asked. “That’s interesting… Now I am quite worried, what if the ceiling collapses on us one day? The entire city would be ruined instantly…”
“T-That’s… Don’t say such things, dear! That would never happen with the King’s protection… R-Right?” Elmephie wondered.
“…”
“…”
Nepheline and Shade raised their eyebrows a bit, it seemed that the information they shared helped these two people begin to question things even if a little bit more.
Perhaps they weren’t brainwashed as they imagined.
“The ceiling won’t collapse; the water is up there, and we can swim!” Ephiatta said, smiling at her parents. “We’ll be fine! Even if that happens… Umm, we can go to the surface with uncle and auntie here!”
“I-I guess you’re young, that’s why you’re saying such things, but don’t ever say them out loud, Ephiatta…” Submarinus said. “It is not allowed to leave the Kingdom.”
“And abandoning our King and his Royal Family would be treason as well,” Elmephie said. “Understood?”
“O-Oh… Okay…” Ephiatta seemed slightly disappointed but nodded obediently. “Sorry…”
“So your King prohibits you from leaving?” Shade asked. “That shouldn’t be a good thing, you aren’t the King’s possessions, he cannot simply stop you from leaving.”
“Everyone is free in this world,” Nepheline said. “If you decide to leave the Kingdom, that is something nobody can do to stop you, it is your right…”
“That’s…”
“Well, even then, we really haven’t considered it.”
“It’s a good place, honestly.”
Submarinus and Elmephie seemed to be being honest and sincere, Shade couldn’t really feel any lies within their words even with his powers.
“I suppose we might’ve talked too much, sorry,” Shade said.
“If you’re happy then… there’s nothing that can be done about it,” Nepheline shrugged. “Nonetheless, we would like to learn more about this place and its people. Especially your King. Outside we are known as Heroes blessed by Gods. Although I hate to use this as an excuse, it could give us the chance to meet him.”
“H-Heroes you say?” Submarinus wondered. “Oh wow, that’s incredible! What acts of heroism have you done?”
“We’ve saved a lot of people, we defeat monsters and evil people,” explained Nepheline in the simplest way imaginable. “And we are very strong…”
“I see!” Elmephie nodded. “How admirable… Unfortunately though we cannot help you with this, we have no connection with the King after all. Asking for an audience would be futile and we would never get an answer.”
“So that’s how it is… Well, while we are here, let’s talk some more anyway, there’s several things I would like to know about you, and if you want, you can also ask us questions,” Shade said. “If you truly came from the past, then that means there’s many things that have changed. I would suggest you become more updated.”
“Oh well, if you insist! Thank you!”
