Chapter 1031: Ran Out Of Money
When Xu Feng used her previous words against her, Natasha felt like she was losing her cool again.
’No, I shouldn’t let him affect him.’ She swiftly shook her head and recalled the analysis made by the system. She couldn’t allow her emotions to cloud her rational judgment again.
After a few seconds, she exhaled softly and verified that 30 minutes had indeed gone by.
The Vanguard Guild might be able to manipulate their chamber, but they sure as hell couldn’t manipulate the Divine World clock. This was something she could confirm.
If anyone were able to manipulate the Divine World clock, then they might as well be the developer or control the system itself, which was definitely an impossibility.
No one knew who the developer was or where the Divine World system originated from. The company that sold the virtual helmet and gaming capsule to allow access to the Divine World also stated that they were only a middleman and nothing more.
"Apologies, I was too engrossed in the chamber to realize the time had run out." Since it was clearly her fault, Natasha turned to Kailey and gave her sincere apology.
As for Xu Feng, the disguised Nathan, she completely disregarded him. There was no need for her to be polite with him anyway.
"No worries," Kailey shook her head and smiled lightly.
"When our guild members first started the chambers, they also had an outburst and thought they were cheated. After all, the chamber’s effect was very clear and beneficial. It makes one lose their sense of time and ensures their immersion in training to be up by at least 200%."
Nodding her head, Natasha didn’t feel she was exaggerating the explanation.
She wasn’t ignorant to not realize the benefit of the training inside the chamber.
In fact, her desire to stay in the chamber for a prolonged period was heightened, especially when she could discover her flaws and seek solutions.
"I don’t have enough money in my pocket." Natasha pursed her lips and said awkwardly. She didn’t expect to be arriving at a money-draining town. Had she known in advance, then she would have brought more.
Just when Natasha felt like she had become a spendthrift a little too much, she suddenly darted her eyes toward Xu Feng. Her gaze was very unfriendly as she recalled why she ran out of money so quickly.
’This bastard made me tip a staggering amount earlier to Kailey.’ She clenched her fist and realized she might have been swindled by him from the start. Or maybe, he and Kailey were working together to create this particular situation to embarrass or frustrate her.
However, she quickly shook that thought process out of the window.
It was impossible for the Vanguard Guild to be that careless as to expose a high-level player in front of her. Moreover, she could sense that Kailey was keeping a fixed distance from Xu Feng.
The only viable answer was that Xu Feng was simply just a bastard who wanted to mess with people.
And she would further solidify such thoughts when Xu Feng suddenly laughed heartily.
"Oh dear, you went broke?" Xu Feng roared in laughter and clutched his stomach tightly. "I can’t believe you were flexing your wealth previously and it was just a show all along."
As the laughter resounded throughout the room, Natasha managed to remain calm. The chamber training had warned her to not lose her temper as that would result in showing numerous flaws.fr\(e)ew(e)b.(n)o (v)(e)l.com
She ignored Xu Feng’s remark and remained fixated on Kailey.
"As a member of the Vanguard Chamber of Commerce, is it possible to keep some of the fees on a tab?" She asked calmly. "We can also include some interest to ensure your guild wouldn’t suffer any losses."
Startled by her suggestion, Kailey was left pondering. Such a decision was not for hers to decide nor did she dare to do so either.
"I’ll need to contact my superior," Kailey responded. Initially, she planned on inquiring about the Guild Leader, but she quickly shook her head. The Guild Leader had already told her that he was busy with something and that she should seek Blue Star and then to Veronica.
The chain of command shouldn’t be disregarded and the earlier instances were just some exceptions.
Seeing how there was a glimmer of hope, Natasha doubled down. "You can rest assured that I will be able to repay the fee after I’m done with the chamber training."
"I believe you," Kailey responded confidently. "But I still need to inform my superior due to formality and procedure."
With that being said, Kailey promptly excused herself for the time being, leaving Xu Feng and Natasha alone.
"So how many times did you die in the chamber?" Feeling like it was a great chance to return some jabs, Natasha raised the question.
"What do you mean by that?" Xu Feng raised an eyebrow. "The illusory figures are easy targets once you understand their weaknesses. Don’t tell me you’re that trash and die to them?"
Instantly, she coughed a few times and snorted coldly. "Hmph, who do you think I am? I defeated the illusory figures with ease and just wanted to know if you were afraid to falter in front of them."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, I just wanted to resume the chamber to test out a few more moves to defeat them in other ways."
With Natasha bluffing like this, Xu Feng nearly found her behavior cute. He seriously wanted to expose her lies on the spot and revealed the clips of her being thrashed repeatedly by the illusory figures.
Alas, he needed to refrain himself because doing so would only expose his own identity.
For a moment of joy to risk everything he had built up with the Nathan persona wasn’t worth it at all!
’I’ll let you lie a few more times. Once I gather enough dirt on you, I wonder if you can still bluff so confidently.’ Xu Feng sneered inwardly. He might have been on the lead so far toward Natasha, but he knew better than to underestimate her character.
