Chapter 989: You Are A Robber

A few minutes after the battle had commenced, the winner was soon declared.

Winner: Lunar Wraith.

The betting points were instantly allocated to Carmen’s identity card.

Name: Lunar Wraith

Status: Honorary Citizen

Reputation Points: 500/3,000

Resonance Points: 5,500

Looking at her updated Resonance Points on her identity card, a satisfied smile appeared on Carmen’s face.

She exited the arena stage with a joyous expression. Along the way, she noticed the employee’s gaze was filled with respect and a trace of fear.

Clearly, the employee didn’t expect a lovely woman like Carmen to be so ruthless and merciless.

Meanwhile, trailing behind Carmen was an ashen-face Derek who seemed like he had lost his whole life.

His so-called ranking and prestige that he built up today were destined to crumble tonight once news had spread about how he got destroyed.

"What kind of monster did Resosnace City bring along." Derek felt aggrieved and wanted to cry that he had to stumble across Carmen out of everyone else.

While Derek experienced a traumatic experience, Carmen’s eyes turned to the crowd. She was mainly staring at those enthusiastic people from earlier who wished to be chosen.

"Alright, who’s next?" She clasped her hands and asked eagerly. "Don’t be shy now. I remember each and every one who wanted to be first but got snatched by Derek. This is your chance and opportunity to gain free points."

The crowd nearly went numb and wanted to flee from the scene.

Gain free points?

Who the hell dares to challenge you after that display of strength?

"Haha, Lady Lunar Wraith must be teasing us weak folks. How about this, I work at a store not far away from here. As long as you come, you will receive a 50% discount." One of them who faced Carmen’s gaze instantly spouted.

When the rest saw how he spoke about discounts to escape being persecuted, they also quickly followed suit and offered many discounts for Carmen.

Rather than being destroyed and experiencing a traumatic moment, they would rather offer her a discount suitable for her status.

As for trying to scam her points, they no longer even dare to harbor any thoughts.

"Ah, you all are making me feel like some kind of robber." Carmen scratched her head in embarrassment.

You are a robber!

The crowd wanted to scream those words aloud but dared not to. Ultimately, it still stemmed from the fact that they respected Carmen’s strength and acknowledged her.

Otherwise, they would have never offered her any discounts.

Had Carmen struggled and barely won against Derek, they might offer some discounts, but definitely not a lot or receive such respect from the crowd.

The employee was also slick and directly upgraded Carmen’s membership.

Granted that Carmen had defeated Derek, she had essentially overtaken his position in the arena and rose to the top 100.

"From now on, you’re a gold member of our Resonance Arena. You will receive many benefits and the arena points you gain can be used to purchase in the store on the northwest side." The employee handed her a golden card and explained.

"Thank you," Carmen gladly accepted the gold member card with grace. Her objective had succeeded in this one battle. It truly saved her a lot of time.

Sometime later, Carmen bid farewell to them.

The crowd was very pleased with her decision and told her to patronize their store whenever she wanted.

With the discount cards that she was granted, it didn’t matter whether they were present or not.

Leaving the arena, Carmen stretched her arms and began skipping her steps back to where Xu Feng was.

Meanwhile, news of her deed had long spread across. Rather than being famous, she had become infamous among the circle of combatants who swore to never bet against Carmen.

"Seriously, if you don’t want to feel like eating shit like Derek did, then make sure you don’t challenge her."

"Derek’s face is still pale as a paper. I bet he regretted ever trying to swindle the demoness."

Many expressed their sorrow and sympathy for Derek’s plight, but there was also a small margin of people who were laughing. These small margins of people were precisely those who had been swindled by Derek in the past.

And now, seeing karma had finally reached its justice, they were obviously gleeful.

However, none of their thoughts or actions had any effect on Carmen.

Upon arriving at the missionary hall, Carmen anticipated to be facing a large crowd again. Yet to her surprise, it was relatively empty.

"Could the missions run out?" She muttered. That was the only logical process that she had in mind. But when she entered inside, she noticed there were many missions available.

Some were even relatively easy and offered a good amount of points.

Confused, she continued to head toward the inner section, only to realize the crowd had actually migrated.

"Why are they crowding here?" She raised an eyebrow. Previously, the inner section was nearly emptied.

Luckily, her doubt was soon cleared when the nearby NPCs began talking among themselves all of a sudden.

"Another completion. This young man is really something else."

"He’s gathered more than 20,000 points by now. Some of the missions were sitting there for a long time but he managed to solve them one by one."

"Haven’t you noticed even the top authorities within the city had come over here just to inquire him about their doubts?"

Upon hearing them from behind, even an idiot could tell who these people were talking about.

’The Guild Leader is even more amazing than me.’ Carmen was startled briefly. She had thought scheming Derek of 2,000 points was impressive enough. Yet Xu Feng had already racked up 20,000 points during her absence.

"Excuse me, please." Having known that, Carmen tried to squeeze in.

"Stop pushing."

"You’re late, so stand in the back."

The crowd was obviously displeased with her attitude and behavior.

Despite this, Carmen showed no fear and revealed, "The person you’re watching is my companion. Do you still want to block me off?"

Almost immediately, the crowd went silent and subtly created a small passage for her to advance forward. They didn’t doubt her words, granted that such a lie would only mean terrible repercussions later on.
