Chapter 998: Reconciliation

"Good evening, Xu Feng. I’m Rebecca Richards," Rebecca extended her hand and greeted Xu Feng.

Xu Feng gladly returned the gesture and extended his hand to shake hers.

"So it’s Rebecca Richards. No wonder you have a connection with the Lethal Corp." He mused.

The last name Richards finally cleared up quite a lot of doubts. Richards was a renowned name in the finance industry, granted they owned and operated Lethal Finance, a top 200 conglomerate in the world.

"Rebecca here is the cherished heiress of the Lethal Finance. Her father, Francis Richards is currently the Vice President and manages the company on behalf of his grandfather, Derek Richards." Allison chimed in and explained the relationship.

"What cherished heiress?" Rebecca suddenly shook her head and lamented, "It’s more correct to say I’m the neglected heiress. Father and grandfather are always so busy with their work that they don’t even care about me."

"Yeah, a neglected heiress who could swipe whatever she wanted with the credit card and travel wherever she wanted. I sure want to be neglected as well." Allison commented.

Naturally, it was a joke and a tease between the two friends. But in Xu Feng’s eyes, he was beyond frustrated and felt envious of Rebecca. To be able to have anything she wants in life and still complain about it.

He truly wished to strangle her on the spot. He had to struggle and work his way up like some damn slave to get something he loved.

Seemingly sensing Xu Feng’s displeasure, Allison quickly cleared her throat.

She then suggested, "Let’s enter the VIP booth first to converse further. It’s better to not disturb others outside."

"You’re right." Knowing that her friend was suggesting a private conversation, Rebecca readily agreed with it.

Xu Feng didn’t bother to comment on it and entered the booth. As soon as he entered, he was graced with a large-scale view of the competition. The booth was situated at the top, so from beneath, he could see the crowd filling up all the seats.

Just looking at the audience from above meant Xu Feng felt blessed that he didn’t have to struggle there. Not only was it very cramped up, but the view wasn’t that ideal either.

Finding a comfortable seat to sit in, Xu Feng sat down and leaned back. He completely disregarded the two women behind him.

It wasn’t on purpose either though. His body had just finished undergoing a transformation, so Xu Feng didn’t want to exert too much of his stamina.

His condition was concealed, but Allison had a feeling that something was amiss with him.

’What’s going on with him?’ She wondered curiously. She was positive that he was concealing something and was enduring some kind of problem alone. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have stayed so quiet and unlike his usual self.

Although their interaction hadn’t been long, she was able to tell that he was the proactive type.

Such a great chance of networking yet Xu Feng forfeited it and returned to their side almost immediately spoke volumes of his condition.

Nevertheless, Allison didn’t plan on prying and chose to play ignorant. Since Xu Feng hadn’t talked about it, then it meant he didn’t want others to learn or discuss it.

Once everyone got seated, Allison chose to stay on the main topic.

"I shall bear witness to this conversation. Rebecca Richards here represents Lethal Finance and Xu Feng here represents the Vanguard Guild." She declared. "Are there any opinions regarding my statement?"

"Yes, I want to know if Xu Feng here has the authority to make decisions on behalf of the Vanguard Guild." Rebecca raised her hand and said.

Allison didn’t respond but her eyesight already darted to Xu Feng.

Unfazed by her stare, Xu Feng calmly crossed his legs. "You can rest assured. I have a lot of influence within the guild. It’s just that I never intervene because Lin Feng is capable enough."

Nodding in agreement, Rebecca had to admit that Lin Feng was truly one fearsome guild leader. Not only did he never bend against the top powers, but he also dared to confront and succeed in overwhelming them.

"Since you can make the decision, then I won’t beat around the bushes. We would forgo the past and offer 1,000 gold coins to you as goodwill." Rebecca said.

"Wow, 1,000 gold coins sure is a lot." Amused, Xu Feng chuckled softly.

"Great, so we have a deal?" She clasped her hands in joy.

Allison was also heaving a sigh of relief to see how fast the conversation was completed.

However, to their dismay, Xu Feng suddenly crossed his arms and smirked.

"Nope," he flatly said.

"Eh?" Startled, Allison’s eyes widened in surprise.

Even Rebecca was a bit taken aback by the sudden rejection. She already suggested offering 1,000 gold coins to their guild as goodwill. All that just to wipe out the past event. Yet Xu Feng refused?

When Xu Feng saw their reactions, he realized the topic definitely didn’t come from either of them.

"Rebecca, how often do you play the Divine World?" Xu Feng asked.

"I play daily."

"I don’t mean like logging in and just roaming around the city. I mean like actually grinding and understanding the guild dynamics and territorial bases."

Silent, Rebecca was unable to answer the question. She tried to turn to Allison for a hint, only to notice she was also confused by it.

Without a doubt, these two were just very casual players—similar to Carmen in the old days.

They were ignorant of numerous things and only dabbled in the very thin surface of the Divine World.

Had it been anyone else who was in talks, then Xu Feng was afraid they might have been swindled and baited by the 1,000 gold coins offering.

"Rebecca, Allison, this topic was never about reconciling." Xu Feng adjusted his glasses and clarified the situation to them.

"This is about your Lethal Corp trying to undermine the value of our Vanguard Guild’s town and attempt to influence others into believing it was already in cahoot with us. The Lethal Corp is disguising their insidious scheme with the so-called reconciliation."
