Shepherding Humanity
Chapter 119: The brilliant me has seen through their plans. This post caused waves in the forum the moment it appeared. Everyone was burning with curiosity and excitedly discussed the topic.
Had it been some nobody, then they’d have simply treated it as a scam, but this guy was different.
Within the short 10 minutes, 6000-7000 players had entered that game world that was still in its testing phase; a great number of people. As people came and went, they all learned of the big-shot with the hidden class who had remained inside all this time.
“This guy’s a badass! A super relentless badass!”
This was what they all thought of him.
He was willing to endure 8 months of solitude inside the game, who else could be so unrelenting?
And now, he was making this kind of post.
“LOL, don’t lie to us, boss.”
“Right, I’ve seen this kind of trick before. You’ve suffered greatly, which is why you’re trying to trick us into entering the game and share in your suffering, right? (?)”
***They were smart people and would not be fooled.
But, they still cautiously read the post, just in case.
The moment they did, they instantly lost their composure.
The post was as follows:
“Hello everyone. I’m Learning Medicine. I’m sure you’ve all heard of me, I’m the trial sandbox’s most tenacious player.
The following is my review of the game, along with my personal thoughts. First of all, I must praise how realistic its virtual world is. The senses are super-realistic, and it’s truly like experiencing a second life. I can’t thank the amazing Developers enough for gracing us with this miraculous technology.
But right now, not only are you guys not grateful, you’re even complaining like crazy. On the major websites, the review score for the new ‘Magic Sim’ game has fallen to 3.7 points. You can’t appreciate the game developers’ painstaking efforts at all. I can’t help but feel angry for them!
Without further ado, I’ll now defend the game developers’ good name by thoroughly analyzing their intentions.
Problem Number One: Meditation.
Hardcore realism has always been this game’s selling point. Right now, everyone is complaining because its leveling system is too realistic, and you have to train from the very beginning.
At first, I also felt that this was too repetitive and boring, but then I thought: What if the Developers did this with a specific purpose in mind? After meditating for a long time, I’ve finally figured it out.
The Magic World’s meditation resembles Earth’s Taoist Qigong and Yoga Meditation. Sitting down and meditating with your eyes closed for 30 minutes can clear your mind and calm your spirit.
Why did the Developers do this?
They were thinking of our health and wanted to give us an opportunity to relax a little.
There are various articles in modern magazines that says: Because life is too hectic, modern people often suffer from mental illnesses caused by excessive stress and mental exhaustion. ŔANÖᛒΕs̈

Which is why this meditation is very helpful for calming your thoughts and clearing your mind. It’s like getting a free meditation room. While the gym helps you maintain your physical health, this meditation gym will maintain your mental health.
But, gyms cost money, while this meditation room is absolutely free, and will even save you time!
In my personal opinion, this sandbox has been made to improve our health, and is a place where we can relax. Meditating for an hour everyday will definitely benefit our body and mind.
The reason you felt that it was boring is because you couldn’t bear to logout and meditated too long!
Problem Number Two: Gaining Levels.
One of the reasons you’re all complaining is that the training is too difficult and boring. You’ll have to sit down and meditate for over a year to reach Level Two. Who’d be willing to do that?
But in reality, you’re all mistaken about one thing: This training is not supposed to be done by only one person!
If my conjecture is right, then each character is supposed to be trained up by countless people over alternating generations. Each account should be enough for a thousand people to log on one after another and meditate, giving them a chance to relax their minds and relieve their daily mental stress.
Your character will level-up fairly quickly with this kind of training!
Problem Number Three: Fun Factor.
Everyone is saying that this game is too boring, and that the Developers are idiots! Why are you only giving us an open space to train?
We’re not interested!
Retards!
This is the common consensus.
But in reality, everyone is missing the Developers’ true intentions!
This open space is our personal playground. Like how each beginner’s cell in ‘Spore Evolution’ has infinite potential, how this playground will develop is totally up to us.
What can a bunch of Mages do in there?
First, we’ll be able to form a free community.
We can build houses and create a communal fun park.
Furthermore, we can build our own PvP Arena, where people can compete with one another, with our own leaderboards.
I’m sure many of you are fans of fighting games like ‘The King of Fighters’, and now, you’ll have the opportunity to personally enter the stage and fight. Imagine the flashy spells and showy maneuvers. Imagine how cool you’ll look after an amazing winning streak. I’m getting a chill just thinking about it!
Besides the PvP Arena, we could also make a “League of Mages” MOBA game, and build a “Summoner’s Rift” with 5 players on each side.
Each group of Mages will use their Wind, Water and Fire Spells to destroy the opposing team’s Nexus.
“Commence all-out attack!”
“The enemy’s crystal has been destroyed!”
…
We get to be real-life champions, perform flashy maneuvers, pull reversals, engage in 1 vs 3 battles, and win with only a sliver of life left. I'm getting thrilled just thinking about it!
By its very nature, this game has infinite possibilities, but you’re all saying that it has no fun factor at all. What are you, idiots?
This is so miserable! You all claim to be smart people, and boast that the internet is full of new talents, but in reality? You dare slander the Developers who’ve been treating us so well? You’re turning into anti fans who are lowering the game’s score?
In my eyes, you’re all a bunch of retards!
After comprehensively discussing the 3 problems of ‘Meditation’, ‘Boring Training’, and ‘Fun Factor’, the way ahead is obvious. You must see the plan by now, right?
This game should take the following form in the future:
Each character will be successively controlled by hundreds to thousands of people who’ll login each day to play the game.
After we’ve performed our daily meditation and relieve ourselves of stress caused by the real world, we’ll be able to entertain ourselves through the various amusement parks, arenas, DIY games, and communal activities to shorten the distance between people. It can’t possibly get any cooler than this!”
***
WTF!
A magic community!
After reading this post, everyone on the Internet was stunned!
The thorough analysis made them all excited. To think that this big-shot was such a deep thinker and had uncovered so many hidden secrets.
Meanwhile, we haven’t noticed anything at all. We’re the shame of the internet! We don’t deserve to call ourselves smart people. This was what many people regretfully thought.
“As expected of the big-shot who stayed 8 months inside! To think that you’d be able to notice the Developers’ true intent! Such flawless logic! Now that I think about it, you’re absolutely right! (?)”
“So that’s why! To think that there was such a well hidden truth waiting to be uncovered! I initially thought that the Developers were scamming us by randomly unveiling a half-finished product!”
“I'm sorry! I offer the game’s Developers my sincerest apologies!”
“I'm sorry! +1”
“I'm sorry! +2”
“I’m sure even the Developers are surprised right now. Damn it! Because of this genius here, all of our painstakingly researched ideas and hidden secrets have been completely seen through! He’s even posting them all over the internet! (?)”
People’s attitude changed in an instant, and they began to excitedly praise the thoughtful developers. As expected, they were amazing! This game had infinite possibilities, and just reading about them made people look forward to playing it.
Which game on the market right now was so open-ended? It even let players create their own game content and stages. No other game like this existed; this game was the start of an entirely new genre.
Learning Medicine sighed in relief when he saw their excited reactions. He sagaciously chuckled: “This game’s Developers are as Hardcore as ever, huh…”
He felt like the second coming of Zhughe Liang. With utter serenity, he turned away from his computer and looked at the bright sunlight outside his window, murmuring softly:
“In order to surprise us, the Developers hid their true intentions while enduring everybody’s criticism. They’ve truly put in a great deal of effort in this! But the brilliant me has already seen through their plans.”
