"Come after me if you dare, you piece of shit," Klautz taunted the beast. His eyes were blood red as he released an intense amount of killing intent. He might be exhausted but he was pissed like hell. This had caused a huge gush of adrenaline in his veins that kept him moving.
Klautz was leading the beast towards his trap. If Klautz had done such a step at the very beginning to the boss battle he would have been done for. At those hours, the beast was too fast for him to run away. But now? The beast was slowed down by the poison and the numerous wounds it had sustained.
The trap entailed a dangling large piece of meat wrapped up in strong forest vines. WHen Klautz had constructed the trap he was expecting the beast to feast on that meat. But now he had a change of plans.
The death worm was enraged as Klautz had snatched its prey. It wanted to hunt Klautz and it was after his smell. It wouldn't wait to eat some sort of rinsed monster meat at the moment. That is why Klautz wasn't gonna rely on the bait anymore. For all the beast wanted now was to eat Klautz alive crushing his bones under its jaws.
Klautz was waiting for the right moment as he ran, making the beast chase after him. When he reached close he leapt in the air, the death worm just behind him, its jaw just an inch away from him. If he wasn't an inch ahead or if he would have leapt a little later, he would have become the beast's meal by now.
Klautz grasped the dangled meat in the air. But his increased momentum didn't let him to step as it pushed him forth. With him striding forward he pulled the meat along with himself.
*Thud*
*Crash*
Rocks came falling onto the beast as it crushed it below them while on the other hand the poison coated spears below pierced the beast's body into numerous holes. Klautz just barely dodged by a few milliseconds before the debris came falling on the beast saving himself from being buried alive.
"Ha… ha," Klautz panted as he caught his breath, the meat still wrapped around both of his arms and against his chest. He tossed the meat aside. His chest heaved up and down as he took in as much oxygen as he could. For some reason or another, Hell had almost the same composition of oxygen as that back on earth.
[Strength +1]
[Defense +1]
It was an instant death for the worm. With so many boulders falling on it and its body riddled with so many holes even a monstrosity like it stood no chance, no matter how crudely the trap was made.
"Now all that remains are the smaller worms" he thought. The fight had been long and hard and now that it ended all the adrenaline left his body. His tensed muscles relaxed and his heart started pumping hard.
"There is no need for me to fight anymore... They should be able to counter those worms"
The fight had been hard on everyone but there was also a silver lining to it. Thanks to Klautz there were no casualties even though some might have sustained some major injuries including the man that had lost his arm.
Klautz watched as little by little the group killed all of those man-sized worms. He let out a sigh of relief after the last worm fell.
[Congratulations!]
[The last wave was cleared]
[Greatest contributor: Klautz]
[Prize: Chestplate of Death Worm.]

Verona bit her lips as she watched everyone fight the beast. She felt guilty that she wasn't able to help them. Her chin dropped to her plentiful chest as she adopted a slumped posture. She wanted to help.... She too wanted to fight but they didn't want her to participate. Surrounded by cold stares.
Verona still remembers the events that transpired before the boss battle. It still makes her clench her heart.
Bill had made sure to warn her when he got the opportunity, that is why when no one was watching.
"Remember don't participate in the upcoming battle. That is if you don't want to die. With no one to trust on the battlefield you cannot rely on anyone to watch your back. No one trusts you" Bill's words ringed in her ears. It hurt her all the more, so much so that she shut her eyes trying to forget. Maybe if she opens her eyes it will all turn out to be a dream. But alas that would never happen.
She was lucky that there was someone like Bill to warn her. If at all she had stepped in she would have been badly injured at best and used as the meat shield at worst. The others wouldn't have to bait an eye to use her for their benefits.
As always she had tried to put herself in their shoes. And fair enough she could understand why they chose to be on guard against her… why they chose to abandon her. An unknown person coming out of nowhere in a forest surrounded by death. Why won't they be on guard?
She clutched her top as her nails sank into it. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes.
What greeted her was a scene in which Klautz was running towards the beast. She couldn't help but gasp in surprise.
She hadn't noticed Klautz's presence before. Little did she know that he was away making traps for the boss battle.
"Isn't that Shiny?" she whispered. "So that was it!"
Little by little all the pieces fit at the right places.
She realized that Klautz was the one who brought her here. She had always found it strange how she woke up in an unknown place.
