Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 86 - Abandoned Ship?

Verona was lost into a dark world… she was unconscious. But a chillness against her whole body as if wanted to pull Verona out of that world of dreams. Her eyebrows twitched and her eyelids shook as she struggled to open her eyes. But, the dizziness in her brain didn't let her eyelids rise.

She finally was able to overcome the temptation to fall back to sleep as she got up rubbing her eyes. She found herself in an unknown location; her pupils shook as she fervently looked around in all directions trying to figure out her situation.

She found herself floating on black swamp waters. Lilly pads were floating here and there similar to how Verona herself was floating on the shallow swamp waters. Mangrove-like trees with breathing roots emerged from the ground but they were twice the size of an average mangrove back on earth.

She got up on her feet. With her not lying floating anymore she sank into the shallow waters. The soft soil beneath her as if sucked her in.

"Where am I?" Yet again Verona had found herself all alone. This was twice in a day already!

'How many times is this gonna happen to me? And every time I find myself lost in an unknown place!'

She remembers not being able to use the portal back in the tutorial zone but after that mostly everything was blank.

She looked left and right but all she found was a deathly silence. There were no beasts... and no chirping of the huge birds. All she could hear was the sounds of the water below her as her own feet made splashing sounds while walking making ripples in the process.

To avoid sinking too much in those loose soil, she was looking to walk through a more sturdy route. The feeling of mud that was sticking to her legs wasn't the most likeable experience for her.

*ping*

[Welcome to the bonus stage!]

Verona's eyes shot wide open in response to the message that suddenly popped up.

Following that, a series of messages popped up on her status screen explaining to her the situation she was in.

The bonus stage was quite a peculiar one. It had different starting spawn points for different participants.

That is why she was on a completely different island than Klautz and fair enough the island Klautz was spawned and the island Verona found herself in had completely different biospheres.

The first island was an evergreen biosphere theme that had large trees with thick canopies that prevented any sunlight from seeping in. Meanwhile, Verona's island had an open sky with swaps of black waters and lilypads infesting these waters along with huge mangroves.

But it didn't end at that. There was something else… something that had immediately caught Verona's attention. After walking for a while her eyes fell on a huge wooden ship spanning two stories… no possibly three, in the middle of nowhere in the swamp waters.

"What is this doing here?"

The ship stood out of nowhere. It wasn't even floating but had landed on the loose mud below. How did such a ship get here? One can only wonder.

Verona was caught by curiosity. No matter how far her eyes went there was nothing that came to her eyes, only mangroves and lilly pads. This ship was her only solace in the vast swamp lands.

She looked for a way to get up on the ship and sure enough, she found a thick wooden platform sliding against the ship. It was kept in a way that it could take her on the ship if she chooses to climb up.

*Creak*

The wooden platform creaked the moment Verona stepped on it. Which made her take a step back out of fright.

"Ah," she squeaked, turning left and right to find out who made such a scary voice. With her being completely alone even the slightest sounds reverberated in her ears and were giving her panic attacks. Her chest thumped up and down with the sudden fright that her heart had caught onto.

*Gulp*

It took her a moment to realize that it was her own actions that had caused the platform below to creak. She tried to cool herself down. Realizing her foolishness she took a deep breath and took the step yet again.

*Creak* *creak*

She didn't care about the creaking sounds this time around as little by little she got up on the ship. The sight before her to catch her breath.

She covered her mouth with both of her hands at the sight. There was about a score of men and women with their back at her sitting along with a long wooden dining table.

Verona approached them in hope of some company. For a long time, she was craving for company… she felt so lonely that she could go insane! This was the reason why even the creaking of wood caused her to jump in fright.

*creak*

"Hello? Sorry to disturb you, but I am kind of lost," Verona said as she hoped for their help. Her voice stuttered with uncertainty.

But no one of them responded.

She tilted her head to the side wondering why they were ignoring her. She walked closer as she placed her hand on a woman's shoulder. For some reason her hands didn't feel any sort of warmth from her, her body was cold and her muscles were tense.

"Excuse me," Verona said as she sucked her head to the side.

But the woman never responded to her call. Verona's lips pressed into a white slash as she narrowed her eyes. Feeling a bit annoyed she shook the woman by her shoulders. But the woman's body was too limp.

When Verona realized that there was something strange, she let go of her body.

*thud*
