Chapter 2050: Savior

As fate would have it, Tang Fanghua had heard of a relative residing in a small town, prompting her to venture there. Little did she know she would cross paths with Qi and save him along the way.

Upon returning to Guiwu City, where Qi’s encampment was located, Qi pledged to assist Tang Fanghua in locating her relatives. Despite their efforts, they were unable to locate them.

Left with no other options, Tang Fanghua naturally remained in Guiwu City.

Given that she had saved Qi’s life, he couldn’t bear to see her homeless and alone. Consequently, he purchased a house for her and provided financial support.

Qi inquired about her plans. Should she wish to return to her hometown, he offered to arrange for her safe escort, ensuring her well-being under the care of her clan’s patriarch and elders, with his support.

Alternatively, if she desired to settle in Guiwu City, he would support her decision. In the event of marriage, he vowed to provide a generous dowry to secure her future.

However, Tang Fanghua merely expressed her willingness to remain in Guiwu City temporarily, deferring further discussions for later.

The two maids, Lvying and Lvmei, made a jest, suggesting, “Why don’t we just arrange a marriage between General Shao and our Miss? Wouldn’t that be a match made in heaven?”

Upon hearing this, Qi sternly rebuked them, insisting they refrain from such jests in the future. He warned them that tarnishing their Miss’s reputation would have consequences, and they would not be pardoned for it.

As a man of integrity, Qi asserted he would never entertain the notion of marrying his savior. He had never entertained such thoughts.

Tang Fanghua joined in, swiftly reprimanding Lvying and Lvmei for their foolish remarks. She, too, was concerned about the damage to General Shao’s reputation.

She made it clear that if they continued with such nonsense, she would dismiss them from her service.

Shocked by the severity of their scolding, Lvying and Lvmei offered profuse apologies.

Unable to do more than reprimand the maids, Qi resolved to teach them a lesson.

Despite the warning, Tang Fanghua and her servant persisted in visiting the military camp to seek Qi’s company, often bringing gifts of food and clothing.

Initially, Qi paid little attention to their visits. However, as they became more frequent, the elders at the military camp began to express their concerns. They questioned Qi about his relationship with Miss Tang.

Qi was shocked and quickly explained.

Feng Chao, Xu Xiangyang, Zhao Zhongce, and the other old generals couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

They were all astute individuals. How could they fail to discern Miss Tang’s intentions?

The conspicuous actions of the master and servant had made it common knowledge throughout the military camp and Guiwu City that she was Qi’s savior.

Frequently, she would visit to deliver items, often met with teasing and suggestive glances from onlookers. Each time, she would shyly deny any romantic involvement, insisting, “Don’t talk nonsense!” or “That’s not true!”

But how different was this from tacit approval?

It was evident that this woman harbored ulterior motives, exhibiting a cunning nature. Her schemes weren’t straightforward. If Qi were to marry her, it might not bode well.

Learning of this, Qi felt despondent.

He barred them from visiting the military camp again, opting instead to send emissaries twice monthly. Should they require anything, they could communicate through them.

Yet, Tang Fanghua remained evasive when questioned about her plans, prolonging the ambiguity.

Lvying and Lvmei resumed their testing, heaping praise upon their young miss and subtly hinting at her affections for General Shao.
