Springtime Farming: A Happy Wife At Home
Chapter 2122: Bai Ruirui's Foolish WordsChapter 2122: Bai Ruirui’s Foolish Words
Sun Meng cursed himself inwardly. He had been too reckless!
Fury and regret churned within him. Why had he blurted out his thoughts? Why had he resorted to violence?
Yet, he couldn’t entirely fault himself. In any other circumstance, he would have caught the dogged official off guard, ensuring no mishaps.
But now, he had faltered!
Sun Meng seethed with anger, humiliation, and a hint of fear. He was swiftly sent hurtling through the air by Hang Xingshan, crashing to the ground with a pained cry.
His subordinates fared no better, scattered and writhing on the ground, their cries echoing in agony.
Clutching his chest, Sun Meng spat out a mouthful of blood before laboriously rising to his feet. Gritting his teeth, he growled, “Shao Yunduan, dare you aspire to seize control of the Qin Empire? Are you not afraid of death? Lay a hand on us, and General Sun will hunt you down. Even the Emperor won’t spare you!”
Bai Ruirui and Fan Ruyin’s eyes gleamed with excitement, their hearts racing.
Bai Ruirui was so exhilarated she nearly shouted aloud. What time was there to wait?
“I’ll tell you this: Didn’t the Qin Dynasty overthrow the previous dynasty and seize power? If the Qin Dynasty could do it, so can anyone else! Our Lord Shao is as formidable as any other. Why—”
“Enough!” Shao Yunduan and Sun Meng barked simultaneously.
Since Sun Meng’s arrival in Anze Province, he had been Shao Yunduan’s antithesis in every aspect. It was rare for them to exhibit such synchrony.
Even Qiao Xuan found herself irritated, let alone Shao Yunduan. She harbored a strong urge to administer a thorough thrashing to the mother and daughter from the Fan Family.
Had he known they were this troublesome, Shao Yunduan would have been indifferent to their fate. Letting Sun Meng take them would have been preferable!
In the end, their late-night rescue mission had been manipulated by them.
Sun Meng glared at Shao Yunduan, a contemptuous smirk playing across his lips.
Shao Yunduan had no inclination to offer explanations; he knew the situation was too convoluted for his name to be cleared.
“Constable Hang, apprehend everyone and escort them away!”
“Yes, my Lord!”
“How dare you, Shao Yunduan!” Sun Meng exclaimed, taken aback.
Ignoring Sun Meng’s protests, Shao Yunduan departed with Qiao Xuan, trailed by Ah-Ye.
“Both of you, instruct Sun Bai and the others to seal off the inn. None of them are to escape!”
“Understood!”
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Sun Meng attempted to flee, but Hang Xingshan intercepted him. Effortlessly overpowering Sun Meng, he handed him over to his subordinates. “Bind him and gag him!”
Sun Meng’s lackeys stood dumbfounded, their survival instincts urging them to flee. Yet, escape was futile.
There were only a dozen of them, so Hang Xingshan was able to do it easily. He didn’t even need to ask for help.
After securing, binding, and gagging the captured individuals, the street lay deserted. The onlookers had scattered, and this portion of the street was now cordoned off, strictly off-limits to outsiders.
Only Fan Ruyin, Bai Ruirui, and the other servants remained, their earlier fright rendering them motionless.
Hang Xingshan and his team, preoccupied with apprehending suspects, paid them little heed.
Now that the culprits were in custody, their presence posed a quandary.
This mother-daughter duo had deceived their Lord! Whether it was intentional or not remained unclear.
“You lot may depart as well,” Hang Xingshan stated icily. “Keep silent about tonight’s events, not even a whisper to your own kin. Breach this command, and you’ll face dire consequences. Understood?”
