Chapter 3470: Looking Down From Above
One by one, the members of the Qi family dropped to their knees. The more this happened, the more it clearly demonstrated that they did not believe that Qi Zun would actually appear. This showed that they had learned the truth.
Even so, the truth was something that they refused to accept. They still hoped that Qi Zun would appear and give them a glimmer of hope.
Qi Gong saw the kneeling members of his family, and the strength drained from his entire body.
He looked up at Lu Yin in the sky.
Lu Yin’s eyes fell upon the patriarch, though nothing was said. Lu Yin simply stared.
Qi Gong clenched his fists tightly. "Third Boss, there is no irreconcilable enmity between you and my Qi family."
Lu Yin sneered. "Qi Guan showed me no respect, and Qi Shangjun ambushed me, nearly killing me. How do you think such enmity can be resolved?"
Qi Gong gritted his teeth. "Qi Guan is your captive to do with as you wish. As for Qi Shangjun, she betrayed the Consciousness Domain long ago and has been exiled from the Qi family. Her actions have nothing to do with us."
Lu Yin laughed heartily. "Smart move! Sacrificing a pawn to save the king. Unfortunately, I’m not buying it.
"I’ve said that I would destroy the Qi family, and I will do just that. Even if the High Seraph himself shows up, that won’t change."You think that you can scare me with Qi Zun? You are underestimating my Grandverse Manor."
With that, Lu Yin raised his hand before pressing it down upon the Qi family.
The Qi family took up a vast portion of the Consciousness Domain, and it had countless pavilions and towers that were extraordinarily beautiful.
As Lu Yin’s hand pressed down, all of the sunlight was completely blocked out as he brought an apocalypse to the Qi family.
Qi Gong roared in fury, "Third Boss, does the Grandverse Manor intend to force things with my Qi family beyond the point of no return?"
"You’re not worthy." Lu Yin’s voice carried no emotion at all as his hand fell.
Qi Gong’s consciousness surged upward, clashing with Lu Yin’s hand. All the while, the patriarch shouted, "All members of the Qi family, attack!"
The next moment, every cultivator who was a part of the Qi family moved to form spiritual treasure formations. As they were completed, consciousness erupted from various locations, each attacking Lu Yin like scattered rays of light that crossed the sky.
Lu Yin stood alone, high above everyone else. He towered above them like a mountain, allowing all of the consciousness attacks to strike him as his hand continued to press down, which caused Qi Gong to spit out blood.
The Qi family members stared in a daze. Why had Ancestor Qi Zun still not taken action?
Why? Could the reports that he was still alive have all been lies? Had their Ancestor never been planning to appear?
Had they known this, they would have fled the Consciousness Domain long ago. Why would anyone have waited?
The hand continued to descend.
Pavilions and towers were shattered, and mountains and lakes broke apart. The Qi family’s territory steadily crumbled.
As he coughed up blood, Qi Gong shouted, "Attack!"
The Qi family controlled the Consciousness Domain. While the Revolt Alliance had grown powerful enough to rival the Qi family, the Consciousness Domain had still been created by Qi Zun, and the Qi family’s foundations far exceeded the Revolt Alliance’s. For example, the Qi family was able to use the surrendered conscients, which was not something that the Revolt Alliance could match.
From underground, conscients rose up. Some had passive forms, while others actively took on the appearance of specific life forms. Regardless, all of them were conscients, and they all attacked Lu Yin at Qi Gong’s orders.
Dozens of conscients attacked. Included among them were four Stellar-realm conscients, nine Starlight-realm conscients, and dozens more of varying strength.
The weakest possessed consciousnesses at the Nine Gears realm, which was equal to a Semi-Progenitor’s strength.
Any conscient that was qualified to be taken to the Consciousness Domain would not be weak.
Dozens more streams of consciousness assaulted Lu Yin, but there was still no effect on him.
His star of consciousness remained as steady as a mountain.
Unless a Universe-realm conscient like Wu Wei attacked, it was impossible for anyone to shake Lu Yin’s consciousness.
Even when Qi Shangjun joined forces with three Spirit Ancestors to unleash a Celestial-level consciousness attack, they only succeeded in giving Lu Yin a brief wave of dizziness, which had little effect.
Lu Yin’s palm finished falling, and the mountains and rivers of the Qi family’s territory were destroyed.
Qi Gong spat out blood, his consciousness having scattered.
The other members of the Qi family let out cries of despair.
The Qi family was seeing its end.
Far away, Daoist Fengzhi shook his head and sighed. "Is the once-mighty Qi family going to be destroyed just like this?"
He was a member of the Revolt Alliance, and his consciousness had reached the Stellar realm, which made him as strong as a sequence powerhouse. He was second only to Shi Lin within the Revolt Alliance.
He had always considered his own power of consciousness to be quite formidable, but not even four conscients at his level of strength could shake the Third Boss, even when working together.
Unless some miracle occurred, the Qi family was doomed.
Shi Lin coldly watched from the side.
While outsiders believed that the Revolt Alliance and the Qi family stood in stark opposition to each other, the truth was that they had both been established by the High Seraph. Their enmity was nothing more than a performance for outsiders.
While their rivalry was false, Shi Lin saw no reason to help the Qi family at this moment. They had offended someone whom they could not afford to offend, and that was their problem alone.
The Revolt Alliance had also sent people to approach the Third Boss. Why had he decided to target the Qi family specifically? That was because of their attitude towards him.
Even if Shi Lin himself stepped forward, he would not be able to defeat the Third Boss. While the alliance leader was confident that he could survive against Wu Wei’s consciousness, he would also find it nearly impossible to harm Wu Wei, which the Third Boss had accomplished.
There was no doubt that the man possessed a Universe-realm consciousness. He was not an opponent to be trifled with.
If the Qi family was destroyed, then the Revolt Alliance would become the sole ruler of the Consciousness Domain for a period of time.
"Shi Lin, why hasn’t the Revolt Alliance taken action yet?" Qi Gong roared.
Shi Lin did not react or respond.
Qi Gong gave up. There was no one who could save the Qi family. They were truly about to be destroyed.
He could not even beg the Third Boss for mercy because the Grandverse Manor was openly rebelling against the Ascendant Hall. Begging would only cause the Qi family to lose the High Seraph’s favor.
Regardless of what Qi Gong chose, only death awaited his family.
Why did things come to this? How has my Qi family fallen into such a desperate situation? Qi Gong’s eyes grew dull as he slowly crumpled to the ground.
Lu Yin was focused on the underground region of the Qi family’s territory, where all of the captive and surrendered conscients were kept.
The Qi family no longer deserved his attention.
Ever since the founding of the Consciousness Domain, a stone monument had sat outside of the Qi family’s gates, placed there by Qi Zun himself.
All who passed through that gate needed to bow and pay their respects to the monument in a show of respect for Qi Zun.
That monument was a symbol of the Qi family.
As the Qi family collapsed, the monument also started to crack.
The various members of the Qi family watched in despair as the stone monument cracked open. It was like witnessing the destruction of their family.
Suddenly, a vast consciousness surged out from the shattered stone of the monument, and it rushed toward Lu Yin.
The moment the consciousness appeared, the entire Yijing underwent a change. Sunlight froze, and everything grew still.
Lu Yin slowly looked down as the consciousness that had rushed up to him. It was accompanied by a powerful voice that shook with the wrath of the universe. "Who dares to be so rash? I am Qi Zun!"
Whoosh!
In the universe above the Consciousness Domain, a beam of light pierced the void, creating ripples that spread out in all directions.
At the same time that that happened, the voice echoed across the universe.
Countless people froze in shock. Qi Zun?
Old Tao and Palace Master Yao were both startled. Had Qi Zun really appeared?
On the ground of the Consciousness Domain, Shi Lin's expression changed drastically. Is Qi Zun still alive? How is that possible?
The members of the Qi family were also dumbfounded. Is Qi Zun really alive?
Qi Gong lay on the ground, his eyes unfocused. When he heard Qi Zun being mentioned, the patriarch’s pupils contracted sharply. He looked up at the sky and let out a silent laugh. Ancestor Qi Zun is alive! My Qi family is saved. Hahaha!
Everyone from the Qi family fell to their knees. "We welcome Ancestor Qi Zun from his period of seclusion."
"We welcome Ancestor from his period of seclusion."
"We welcome Ancestor from his period of seclusion…"
High above, Lu Yin moved back a few steps. The consciousness that had slammed into him had felt like a giant hammer smashing his head, and he was left dazed.
He quickly regained his senses and wiped at his lips, finding his fingers bright with red blood. This was a powerful consciousness. It might not be as overwhelming as Wu Wei’s, but it was frighteningly resilient. There was also an oddly familiar sensation to it.
As Lu Yin looked down, he took in the Qi family’s gate and the shattered stone monument beside it. This consciousness had come from that monument.
Beside the broken monument, an indistinct figure slowly took shape and then looked around. "Are the descendants of my Qi family truly so useless?"
The descendants of the Qi family prostrated themselves before this figure. "Your descendants are incompetent. We must beg you to suppress, kill our enemy, and restore the prestige of the Qi family, Ancestor."
"Ancestor, we beg you to take action and destroy our enemy."
"Our ancestor is peerless in the megaverse! Restore the prestige of our Qi family…"
Far away, the cultivators from the Revolt Alliance felt a chill run through them. Was Qi Zun actually alive? This was a big problem.
Qi Gong staggered out from the shattered ruins of one of the Qi family’s courtyards. The man was covered in blood, but he still knelt before Qi Zun. "This descendant is Qi Gong, the current patriarch of the Qi family. Greetings, Ancestor."
As Qi Zun looked at Qi Gong, his expression softened slightly. "You have done your best."
Qi Gong replied in a mournful tone, "Your descendent is incompetent and unable to protect our Qi family. Ancestor, I ask for you to declare punishment."
"Where is Wu Wei?"
"Wu Wei took action once, using the Skyshearer Millstone. However, that failed, and the conscient did not try again."
"And who are those people?" Qi Zun’s attention shifted further away, to where the members of the Revolt Alliance stood.
The cultivators felt their scalps tingle under the old man’s gaze.
Calm returned to Shi Lin’s face. Qi Zun was an ancient powerhouse, and Shi Lin had not expected the man to still be alive.
The High Seraph held Shi Lin in high regards because of his unparalleled talent, and as a direct result, he had been given permission to create the Revolt Alliance. Shi Lin believed in his own talent for cultivating consciousness, believing himself to be without equal throughout all of history, even if everyone claimed that he would never be able to surpass Qi Zun.
Why was that? Qi Zun merely possessed a Celestial-realm consciousness, which was the same as him. So, why was it impossible for him to surpass the old man?
With Qi Zun revealing himself, Shi Lin was very curious to see how the man would deal with the Third Boss.
Qi Gong understood that Qi Zun was asking about the Revolt Alliance, but he was unsure of how to respond. Quietly, the patriarch shared, "Lord High Seraph granted them permission to build a faction that they call the Revolt Alliance. They are openly opposing to our Qi family."
Qi Zun understood the subtext and turned his attention to Shi Lin. "That one… does he lead the Revolt Alliance?"
"Yes."
Qi Zun sighed. "It’s not bad that our Spirit Nidus has managed to produce such an expert from a younger generation."
He then looked up at Lu Yin, and the previous sigh transformed into endless bloodlust. "And who is that?"
Before Qi Gong could even reply, Qi Zun waved his question away dismissively. "Enough. Since he seeks to destroy the Qi family, we will send him on his way."
The old man then rose into the sky.
The Qi family members grew ecstatic. Ancestor Qi Zun’s appearance meant that the Qi family was saved, and also that the Third Boss was surely done for.
Who would ever dare to provoke their Qi family again?
There was no doubt that Qi Zun’s appearance would bring changes to the Spirit Nidus, or at the very least, changes to the balance of power within the Consciousness Domain.
The Revolt Alliance would no longer be regarded as the Qi family’s equal.
Qi Zun’s name was a symbol of invincibility when it came to the power of consciousness. The old man stood at a level that Shi Lin could never reach.
Up in the sky, Lu Yin watched as Qi Zun approached. "Done catching up?"
Qi Zun shot a cold glare at Lu Yin. "I don’t care who you are. It is certainly remarkable for someone so young to possess such a powerful consciousness, but you should have never offended my Qi family, let alone sought their destruction."
Lu Yin chuckled. "Old man, do you really think that you can protect the Qi family?"
"Arrogant brat!" Qi Zun stared at Lu Yin while his consciousness surged out and swept through the universe.
Lu Yin stood firm, directly facing Qi Zun. "You’re nothing more than a remnant consciousness. That stone monument was your spirit weapon, wasn’t it? You should have died long ago, but you’ve managed to cling to existence by storing your consciousness within your weapon. You lingered around, all for a day like this. Was it all to protect the Qi family?
"Sadly, you’re destined to fail."
If Qi Zun were truly alive, Lu Yin would have needed to be wary of the man. However, as he had said, Qi Zun was nothing more than a remnant consciousness. The man’s physical body had withered and rotted away long, long ago.
Could a mere remnant consciousness of Qi Zun really overturn the universe?
Qi Zun let out a breath. "This old man has walked down the path of consciousness for far, far too long. Even if I don’t have a physical body, what of it? Try stopping my Word of Three Tribulations, if you dare."
Even as he spoke, he took a step forward. Five fingers bent into a strange shape as the old man attacked Lu Yin.
