Chapter 3650: Never Leave
Lu Yin opened his hands. “Didn’t you just say that it’ll be my turn soon? In that case, I won’t leave. As long as we’re together, nobody should come for me, right?”
Jiu Xian did not like this. “You are not welcome here.”
Lu Yin laughed. “Has anyone ever welcomed me anywhere in the Spirit Nidus?”
Jiu Xian retorted, “I don’t care about the Spirit Nidus’s attitude, and it also isn’t any of my business what happens out there. But here in this valley, I can do something. Leave now.”
Lu Yin smirked. “And if I don’t?”
Jiu Xian’s expression grew cold as she stared at Lu Yin. As for Lu Yin, he readily met her gaze. Neither spoke.
The moment passed when Jiu Xian turned around and walked away. “Then I’m leaving.”
Soon enough, she was gone.
Qing Xiao stared at Lu Yin. “Jiu Xian always does what she says. If she says she’s leaving, then she is.”
“I know.” Lu Yin was unbothered and simply continued to hold Qing Yun’s hand.
Qing Xiao asked, “Aren’t you going after her?”
Lu Yin grew puzzled. “Why would I?”
“Aren’t you here for Jiu Xian? If you don’t chase after her now, you’ll be too late,” Qing Xiao explained.
Lu Yin gave him a half-smile. “No, I’m here for you two.”
“Are you really here to take my sister?” Qing Xiao blurted.
Lu Yin laughed loudly, but he offered no further explanation as he continued to lounge in the recliner.
Qing Xiao’s expression turned bitter as he looked at Qing Yun, who was in turn staring at Lu Yin in confusion. What was he trying to do? It was clear to her that Lu Yin was not there for her and her brother, but he had apparently not made the trip for Jiu Xian either. It was too strange.
In outer space, Jiu Xian glanced back. She was not being followed. Always making trouble.
Many things had recently transpired in the outside world, the most important of which was unquestionably Emperor Wu’s death. Even if no details were known, it was possible for Jiu Xian to guess that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Lesser Sancti were involved. That was the only way Emperor Wu could have obtained the Nine Heavens Transformation. Old Salamander had already become the ruler of the Primal Beastland, and Lu Yin had chosen not to interfere. There was no doubt that something had happened, though it was unknown if a deal had been made or if it was simply mutual wariness.
No matter what had happened, everything revolved around the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. It was only that most people could not see that.
The only thing Jiu Xian wanted to do in the Spirit Nidus was find Feng Bo. She had no desire to get involved in the struggle to become a Greater Sancte. The Lesser Sancte behind her similarly wanted to stay out of the contest. It was completely unexpected that Lu Yin had arrived in Jiu Xian’s valley. That man brought nothing but trouble.
Elsewhere, after Meng Sang had managed to escape from Jiu Xian’s eye, he eventually ended up at the Wisdom Domain, requesting an audience with Old Yu.
Old Yu had not expected Meng Sang to seek him out.
Everyone who mattered knew that Meng Sang served Yong Heng. While Meng Sang remained one of the Seven Seraphs, he was only one in name. The High Seraph might revoke the title at any moment.
Many people had started to eye Meng Sang’s position, and he would not be able to retain his title for much longer.
Old Yu did not want to meet with Meng Sang. Yong Heng was Lu Yin’s enemy. Given the connection between Meng Sang and Yong Heng, there was no way to predict how Lu Yin might react. It took tremendous effort to keep Lu Yin under control, and Old Yu had no desire to add any unpredictable elements to the equation at this time.
Still, it was not possible to simply leave Meng Sang waiting at the border. No matter what, he was still a Seraph, and his visit was openly visible.
Since Old Yu knew that Jiu Xian had recently been shadowing Meng Sang, the old man immediately reached out to the woman, telling her to come to the Wisdom Domain.
It would not take Jiu Xian long to arrive. While waiting for her, Old Yu could afford to let Meng Sang wait for a short while.
However, at that moment, Meng Sang brazenly entered the Wisdom Domain, moving straight through Codex 15: Eternal Sorrow.
Old Yu’s expression fell. Since ancient times, every cultivator in the Spirit Nidus had always shown deep respect for the Wisdom Domain. Even Seraphs had requested entry and waited for the permission of the domain’s ruler. Rarely, if ever, had anyone attempted to force their way in.
Despite that, Meng Sang entered the Wisdom Domain without a hint of hesitation.
Eternal Sorrow was not enough to stop Meng Sang from proceeding, and he soon emerged from the formation and arrived among the reed-filled lake, right in front of Old Yu.
“It’s really not easy to meet with you, Old Yu,” Meng Sang said.
Old Yu’s expression was grim. “Meng Sang, this is the Wisdom Domain. Do you understand your actions?”
Meng Sang’s form was shrouded by a black robe. When he lifted his head, a youthful face appeared. The man smiled at Old Yu, whose expression changed drastically. “You’re not Meng Sang. Who are you? Yong Heng?”
Sure enough, the visitor was True God, Yong Heng.
The man stared at Old Yu. “Aren’t you going to offer me a seat?”
Old Yu carefully observed Yong Heng. This person’s visit was entirely unexpected. Yong Heng had always remained hidden in the Spirit Nidus, and it had been impossible for anyone to track him down. He had used Meng Sang as his agent, and the Seraph had roamed the Spirit Nidus on Yong Heng’s behalf.
This was someone whom even the High Seraph was wary of.
Lu Yin had united the Tianyuan Megaverse before leading Boundless and the experts aboard it to the Spirit Nidus. Those actions had only been possible because Yong Heng had left the Tianyuan Megaverse, eliminating the threat from the rear. In other words, if Yong Heng had stayed in his megaverse, Boundless would have never gone to the Spirit Nidus.
This was someone so formidable that even Lu Yin found it difficult to deal with him.
But here he was, openly appearing in the Wisdom Domain.
“The High Seraph is looking for you,” Old Yu stated.
Yong Heng gave a small smile. “It doesn’t matter. As you said, this is the Wisdom Domain. Who would dare to barge in?”
Old Yu grew puzzled. “What are you doing in my Wisdom Domain?”
Yong Heng looked at Old Yu. “I don’t understand why you would ally yourself with Lu Yin instead of me.”
“You want to cooperate?”
“That’s right.”
“Lu Yin is the ruler of the Tianyuan Megaverse,” Old Yu stated bluntly.
Yong Heng chuckled and clasped his hands behind his back. He looked around, observing the surroundings. “The Wisdom Domain has existed for eons. You must understand how brief a brilliant flash can be. There are some people who are simply too astonishing for their own good, and they inevitably incur the heavens’ jealousy, destroying their future. I have also been around for a very long time. Now...” He looked at Old Yu. “I’ve started cultivating with a spirit seed.”
Old Yu’s expression changed. “You’ve been cultivating with a spirit seed? That’s impossible.”
Yong Heng’s smile grew slightly teasing. “What if I obtained the spirit seed from Tian Ci?”
Old Yu frowned, but then he suddenly recalled something as he exclaimed, “Tian Ci’s mirebound artifact was a spirit seed?”
Yong Heng was astonished. “You didn’t know?”
Old Yu’s eyes flickered. “Everyone knew that Tian Ci had a mirebound artifact, but no one knew what exactly it was. How could it be a spirit seed? Can a mirebound artifact even be a spirit seed?”
Yong Heng stretched out a hand. “Whether it can or not, you’ll know with a glance.”
Old Yu remained where he was, refusing to get closer to Yong Heng. The old man let out a long breath. “I believe you. Now, what exactly do you want by coming here?”
“Compared to Lu Yin, you would be better off working with me. I don’t need to learn about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse from you, and I am also not as reckless as Lu Yin. All I need from you is a guarantee that I will have a place when a megaverse is reset. In return, I will protect your Wisdom Domain.”
Old Yu did not answer. He seemed to be weighing his options.
Yong Heng did not rush the man, and he simply stood where he was.
After a while, Old Yu looked over. “Given your strength, why do you still need my Wisdom Domain to obtain that place?”
Yong Heng was visibly annoyed as he answered, “No matter how strong a single person may be, it is impossible to surpass an entire megaverse, especially when it’s supported by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Resetting a megaverse to break through to the Immortal realm is not something that the Spirit Nidus can do on its own, as the real decision lies with the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”
He stared at Old Yu. “I’m sure that there’s a group in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse waiting for a megaverse to be reset.”
Old Yu stared at Yong Heng. “I can’t guarantee this for you.”
“I can wait,” Yong Heng said. “Contact whoever’s behind you.”
Old Yu agreed, “Very well. Please leave for now.”
Yong Heng raised an eyebrow. “Leave? Leave for where?”
Old Yu was momentarily left at a loss for words. What do you mean, ‘leave for where?’ Of course, you should go back to where you came from! However, given Old Yu’s position, as well as Yong Heng’s power, such words were difficult to speak aloud.
Old Yu did not know the limits of Yong Heng’s strength, which was also true for Lu Yin. However, there was one thing for certain: Yong Heng was capable of directly fighting against the High Seraph. There was no one in the current Wisdom Domain who could compare to that. Such a person demanded respect. Still, what was Yong Heng trying to say? His words... sound oddly familiar.
Yong Heng smiled. “The Wisdom Domain has beautiful scenery. I’ll stay here for a while as I wait for your answer. Until then, I’m not going anywhere.”
Old Yu’s expression shifted slightly. “That... might not be appropriate.”
Yong Heng waved the old man’s concerns away. “Just go about your business. Don’t worry, I won’t wander anywhere I shouldn’t or look at things I shouldn’t see. I’ll remain right here on this lake among the reeds.”
With that, he took a step forward and simply vanished.
Old Yu was dazed. He vaguely seemed to see the shadow of someone else in Yong Heng’s actions.
Jiu Xian soon arrived, looking for Meng Sang.
Old Yu glanced at the reeds in the lake. Meng Sang was not the one visiting the Wisdom Domain, but rather Yong Heng. However, the truth was that Jiu Xian had been looking for Yong Heng all along.
If she had arrived before the recent conversation, Old Yu might have allowed Jiu Xian to drive Yong Heng out. But at this point in time...
“He left?” Jiu Xian frowned. “Where did he go?”
Old Yu shrugged. He was actually covering for an uninvited visitor. “I have no idea. All I know is that he left.”
Jiu Xian turned to leave, only to suddenly catch a glimpse of a figure in the corner of her vision. Isn’t that Meng Sang?
She glared at the lake’s reeds and shouted, “Meng Sang!”
The figure among the reeds was hidden within a black robe, yet their head rose, and they met Jiu Xian’s eyes.
She was startled to see that she was not looking at Meng Sang.
Old Yu was quite irritated. Yong Heng had deliberately revealed himself. What was the point of this? Was he not afraid of being forced out by Jiu Xian?
“You’re Yong Heng!” Jiu Xian instantly understood who was in front of her, and she automatically charged forward, only to be stopped by Old Yu.
“Jiu Xian, this is my Wisdom Domain.”
Jiu Xian glared at the old man. “Didn’t you just tell me that he left?”
“Meng Sang did leave. That is not him.”
Jiu Xian considered the matter, and then she nodded. She looked back at the lake. “That is Yong Heng. I came here for him.”
Old Yu still refused to allow her in. “This is the Wisdom Domain, and he is currently our guest. How could I allow you to be hostile to one of our guests?”
Jiu Xian sneered. “A guest? Old man, you’ve lost your mind! The High Seraph has been searching for this man this entire time. Should I contact him and tell him where he can find Yong Heng? Let’s see how your Wisdom Domain explains that.”
Old Yu calmly replied, “We don’t need to explain anything. You are well aware of the relationship between the Wisdom Domain and the Ascendant Hall. If the High Seraph really does come here, I won’t stop him. Whether Yong Heng is able to leave or not will be entirely up to him.”
Jiu Xian frowned. If the High Seraph did arrive and force Yong Heng to flee, she would lose her only chance to confront him.
Still, Old Yu was standing in her way. “Old man, I’m entering the Wisdom Domain. Don’t worry, I just want to talk to him.”
Old Yu hesitated. He had reacted out of instinct, but after thinking things over, Yong Heng’s business with Jiu Xian had nothing to do with the Wisdom Domain. Why should he get involved?
Just as he was about to allow the woman in, Old Yu heard Yong Heng’s voice. “I don’t want to talk to her. If she enters, I will never leave.”
Old Yu was left completely speechless. Never leave? That was unacceptable.
It was impossible for Old Yu to drive Yong Heng away. Is this man even more audacious than Lu Yin? Is this what the Tianyuan Megaverse is all about?
Helpless, Old Yu could only refuse Jiu Xian’s demand.
She angrily snapped, “You overheard my conversation with Lu Yin last time. To find Feng Bo, I have to speak to this man! That is my only goal!”
