Chapter 3690: Surge
Dozens of stone blocks attacked at the same time. Lu Yin was confident that, aside from the High Seraph or Emperor Wu with Heaven's Seal, none of the Spirit Nidus’s Seraphs were capable of withstanding this assault. Any of the others would be gravely injured in an instant, and they would only barely be able to escape. This was how terrifying this Broken Realm was. It was no wonder how an Ortuser had died without even being able to let out a cry.
But despite this fearsome assault, it was all shattered by one human using one hand.
“You're the High Seraph in disguise, aren't you?” Xing Jue had no choice but to suspect this possibility. The Luminary was already wondering if the High Seraph was aware of the trap in the Willbound Expanse and had deliberately disguised himself. It was possible that the High Seraph that they were aware of was a fake, which would also explain why this human had never shared his name.
Lu Yin’s expression turned grave as he released his inner universe. He imprisoned Xing Jue within the Champions' Stage Purgatory in preparation of leaving the Broken Realm.
However, the blocks of stone reappeared all around, and they all shot at Lu Yin.
His one hand again swept through the air, producing a resounding bang. Wielder - God combined with Infinity to produce enough power to instantly shatter all of the stone blocks. Physical attacks at the limit of strength were not enough to harm Lu Yin. Even dozens of creatures at that level of power would not be his match, at least not without reaching Emperor Wu’s level when he had been strengthened by Heaven's Seal. Any number of such opponents could simply be swept aside.
A stone cube reappeared yet again in front of Lu Yin, continuing the brutal assault.
This time, only one stone appeared, yet its appearance caused Lu Yin’s expression to change slightly. This stone was more powerful than any of the ones that had appeared before.
He struck out at the stone with a palm strike, shattering it. However, at that moment, a fragment of the shattered stone shot past and slammed against Lu Yin’s hand. He frowned at the reverberating shockwave that resulted from the impact. Another stone block was shattered, only for yet another to appear. Again and again this repeated, with each block of stone being a bit more powerful than the previous one. It was as if each stone was able to absorb the residual energy of the previous attacks.
As the twentieth stone attacked, Lu Yin sensed a level of power that utterly surpassed the limits of physical strength. It was like he was once again witnessing Emperor Wu’s universe-shattering attack when he had used Heaven's Seal.
However, not even that strike could defeat Lu Yin.
When that stone shattered, yet another stone appeared. Lu Yin’s eyes bulged. “More?”
He had no idea just how many stones might attack him. Thirty? Fifty? Maybe more than a hundred?
The power of these attacks could not be limitless, as the megaverse would not allow such a thing to exist.
There was a deafening bang, and Lu Yin was repelled. He used the force from the stone to propel him out of the Broken Realm.
When he looked back, the Broken Realm had reverted to its original state, looking the same as when he had first entered. The same ruined walls and broken buildings, the same ground as before, and the same stones. It was a grey world devoid of any color, and it was utterly lifeless.
Just as he had suspected, no matter how formidable the Broken Realm might be, it was incapable of truly threatening him. After all, he had never even released his Nine Heavens Transformation.
However, if the number of stones that attacked could rise without limit, then surely there was no creature that could withstand it.
Still, that was also impossible.
Lu Yin looked at Broken Realm for a long moment before finally turning around and leaving. It was time to return to Boundless.
...
Just a short time after Lu Yin left, a conscient arrived. They circled the Broken Realm and then left.
In the Willbound Expanse, an ancient voice spoke up. “Where has Genesis reached?”
“It’s nearly arrived at the Willbound Expanse,” the reply came. The voice was melodious, and it clearly belonged to a woman.
“With how long its been traveling for, Genesis should have arrived here long ago. The High Seraph is stalling.”
“He must be waiting for something.”
“What about the humans’ other battleships?”
“All the ones that we know of are headed this way.”
“Hopefully, things proceed smoothly and we will succeed in eliminating the humans’ top experts in one fell swoop. Especially that High Seraph. His Everstone sequence base is too great a threat to us.”
“We will definitely deal with it. We have sacrificed much for this plan.”
“Why don’t you adopt a fixed form of a human?” the ancient voice suddenly asked the last to speak.
“That’s unnecessary. Once the High Seraph dies, humanity will be relegated to history.”
“It won’t be that easy,” the sweet female voice interjected.
“There’s one more thing,” the ancient voice continued in a lower tone. “Xing Jue has gone missing.”𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
“Xing Jue?”
“What happened?”
“He encountered a powerful human.”
“That’s impossible. Given Xing Jue’s level of caution, unless they ran into the High Seraph himself, they won’t be defeated. At the very least, they could always escape. Not even Emperor Wu is capable of restraining Xing Jue.”
“It was this battleship.” As the ancient voice spoke, an image of Boundless appeared in the air.
“That vessel is unknown to us. That one has never been seen before.”
“It appears that a new super expert has risen from the Spirit Nidus. Anyone who could take down Xing Jue must be at least as strong as Emperor Wu.”
The ancient voice spoke again, “They surpass Emperor Wu.”
“Are you certain?” the female voice asked in surprise. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she continued to say, “The man in the mirror, the nightmare among men. Only you, Old Chief, have seen Xing Jue’s true strength. Is that why you’re certain that this human is as strong as the High Seraph?”
“Precisely,” the ancient voice replied.
For a moment, the Willbound Expanse fell silent.𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The High Seraph alone had already been a thorn in the side of the Consciousness Megaverse, and now they were suddenly learning that a second expert of the same caliber had appeared. How would they deal with that?
“Can our current plan handle two people as powerful as the High Seraph?”
“Not easily.”
“Then this person needs to be eliminated immediately.”
“Who will deal with him?”
A faint sound echoed in the Willbound Expanse. It sounded like a stone falling into a lake. “This person must be dealt with. We will leave our trap to be used for the High Seraph. Everyone, this is our chance. If we succeed, we can counterattack against the Spirit Nidus.”
“Then we need to move quickly.”
...
Once he was back on Boundless, Lu Yin did not move. He did not allow the battleship to continue forward.
Xing Jue was imprisoned in the Champions' Stage Purgatory, but they were released after several days. There was nothing particularly unusual about the conscient.
Conscients lacked emotions, so even if one were to relive their past experiences, they would not suffer, which was completely different from humans.
Lu Yin’s myriad abilities and powers had made him the nemesis of many individuals, but it remained to be seen if conscients might actually be the perfect counter to his Champions' Stage Purgatory.
“Are you really the High Seraph in disguise?” Xing Jue stared at Lu Yin, who was studying the conscient in return.
“Do you want to die?”
“No,” Xing Jue answered bluntly.
Lu Yin chuckled. “Then buy your life. You only get one chance. Miss it, and it will be gone forever.”
Xing Jue said nothing. The Luminary’s consciousness swirled as they clearly considered something.
Lu Yin spoke slowly, “No one can save you, and don’t expect me to keep my word either. All you can do is gamble: win, and I’ll take you to the Spirit Nidus, just the same as Wu Wei. Lose, and you’ll die. Choose now.”
After a bit more thought, Xing Jue replied, “I am willing to submit to your Spirit Nidus and to serve you. You understand very well just how valuable a Universe-realm conscient is.”
“So, you’ll take the gamble?”
“To enter the Willbound Spire, beneath the tree...”
Every conscient that had entered the Willbound Spire would experience something different. Lu Yin had learned what Wu Wei and Hua Manyi had experienced, and he was currently hearing what Xing Jue had observed.
It did not take long for Xing Jue to finish speaking.
Lu Yin casually asked, “Is that all?”
“Is there anything else you want to know? Just ask. I’ll tell you everything I know.”
“I already told you, this was a chance to buy your life, your only chance. Unfortunately, you missed it.” With that, Lu Yin released his inner universe and enveloped Xing Jue’s consciousness.
Enraged, the conscient roared, “You lied to me again! The Willbound Spire is the Consciousness Megaverse’s greatest secret, and I’ve already shared it with you!”
Lu Yin’s expression grew frigid. “But you never mentioned the trap in the Willbound Expanse.”
Xing Jue was completely incredulous, and they demanded, “How do you know about that?”
Suddenly, the Luminary felt their own consciousness slipping away from their control. They glanced past Lu Yin’s shoulder at his Nine Heavens, and they saw the star of consciousness rotating. Horrified, Xing Jue gasped, “Devour... you’re devouring my consciousness? You can devour our consciousnesses? How is that possible? Just who are you?
“You are the Consciousness Megaverse’s greatest enemy! Release me! I don’t want to die! Who are you...!”
The screams slowly faded away. Had Xing Jue revealed that there was a trap in the Willbound Expanse, Lu Yin might not have eliminated the Luminary. A Universe-realm conscient that was a true ally would certainly be invaluable, even if only as bait.
Alas, conscients could not be trusted. Xing Jue had hoped that the trap in the Willbound Expanse would eliminate everyone like Lu Yin, allowing the conscient to escape. A conscient would only betray Lu Yin at the most critical moment.
Given that, it was better for him to simply strengthen his own consciousness.
While Xing Jue had expended a great deal of their consciousness while fighting against Lu Yin, the remainder was still equal to the Universe realm.
Devouring a Universe-realm conscient caused Lu Yin’s consciousness to surge. When he opened his eyes, the void started to collapse.
This shocked everyone aboard Boundless. Even if Lu Yin had not actually done anything, the nearby universe suddenly gained an unbearable weight.
Consciousness was the main power that was cultivated in the Consciousness Megaverse, and it pervaded the entire megaverse. That was how conscients cultivated, as only they could truly perceive the ambient consciousness. At this moment, the sudden spike in Lu Yin’s consciousness pressed down upon the universe like a mountain.
Lu Yin had just gained what was essentially the same amount of consciousness as three universe-realm conscients, much of which was layered in his Nine Heavens. Regardless of whether he faced one of the Thirteen Luminaries or the High Seraph, Lu Yin did not believe that any of them could surpass the strength of his own consciousness. Once he fully digested all the consciousness that he had recently obtained, he might well become the greatest master consciousness.
If he continued devouring more consciousness, his strength would only rise higher.
Lu Yin took a deep breath as he reined in his consciousness, still staring straight ahead. He truly wished to test the High Seraph’s Everstone sequence base. Could the counter to consciousness really subdue Lu Yin?
“Your consciousness is the strongest that I have ever seen in any lifeform,” the Origin Progenitor remarked emotionally as he stepped out from behind Lu Yin.
Lu Yin replied, “I’m going to surprise the High Seraph.”
The Origin Progenitor cautioned him, “When you deliver that surprise, this matter will also be exposed. At that time, you will become the greatest enemy of both the Consciousness Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus.”
To the Consciousness Megaverse, Lu Yin’s mere existence made him their nemesis. So long as he lived, all conscients in the Consciousness Megaverse would eventually be devoured. As for the Spirit Nidus, Lu Yin’s ability to strengthen his consciousness without limit was too terrifying. The more conscients he devoured, the more overwhelming his power would become. Who could possibly stop an unlimited consciousness?
Lu Yin would become a greater threat than even the Consciousness Megaverse, as his potential was something that the Spirit Nidus would never wish to see realized.
In this manner, Lu Yin’s consciousness was both a terrible weapon as well as a grave threat to himself.
Fortunately, as long as Lu Yin did not fully release his consciousness, no one would notice.
“I don’t have any choice. This path must be taken. It’s a shortcut to surpassing the High Seraph,” Lu Yin replied.
The Origin Progenitor sighed. “For all of the pressure to be placed solely on you, Pillar... This is suffering for you.”
Lu Yin laughed. “Without the support of my predecessors, I would have never been able to reach this stage. Senior, I will go into seclusion for a few days to adapt to my current consciousness.”
The Origin Progenitor nodded.
Lu Yin went to a deserted section of Boundless. His hand rose, and his die appeared. He tapped it, hoping to see four pips. Timestop would allow him to fully integrate his newly acquired consciousness. Additionally, Lu Yin hoped to see six pips. He was rolling his die with the goal of seeking out the Thirteen Luminaries and uncovering the true nature of the trap that lay in the Willbound Expanse.
