Strongest Warlock - Wizard World Irregular
Chapter 1037: Visions From The Past"We should have made our introductions earlier," the Old Lady said. "But I fear my clan might be too excited to meet Foreigners after a very long time.
"Staying in the streets seemed to have discomforted the two of you, so I decided to bring you here first before I introduce you to the rest of the Sylvan Clan."
The Old Lady smiled as she looked at Ethan and Chloe, who were both seated on the wooden couch.
"My name is Arawina Moonfall," the Old Lady introduced herself. "Feel free to refer to me as Lady Arawina."
Ethan nodded. "My name, Your Excellency, is Ethan Gremory. My companion here is named Chloe Gremory."
"Oh?" Lady Arawina smiled. "Are you husband and wife? You both have the same last names."
Before Chloe could even answer the Great Shaman’s question, Ethan answered for her.
"She’s my fiance," Ethan replied. "We’ll get married in time."
Lady Arawina nodded in understanding. "Well then, Ethan and Chloe. What brings you to the Land of Sylvan? The Stone Gate protecting this realm cannot be easily accessed by someone, even if they have some Firbolg blood running in their veins."
The Great Shaman’s gaze landed on Chloe, eyeing her with great interest."Lady Arawina, I found the entrance to the Sylvan Realm months ago," Chloe replied. "But as you said, it cannot be easily accessed from the outside. However, we had Lia Fail to serve as the key to the entrance of your domain."
"I see…" Lady Arawina muttered.
A conflicted expression briefly appeared on her face before she heaved a deep and long sigh.
’So, my Master’s vision has come to pass,’ Lady Arawina thought. ’They might be the two people whom my Master told me about long ago.’
The Great Shaman had many questions, but she asked the first question that mattered. Discover hidden tales at empire
"I’m sure you didn’t visit us to go sightseeing," Lady Arawina said. "But before you tell me the reason why you came here, can you tell me what has happened in the outside world? Did the Fomorians invade Southshire a second time?"
"They tried," Chloe answered. "But, something important happened, which prevented an all-out war between the Fomorians and the Alliance of the Shire Continent."
Chloe then began to explain how Ethan fought against the Naval Fleet of the Fomorians and wiped them from the face of the world.
When Lady Arawina heard this, she wasn’t able to stop herself from looking at Ethan in shock, awe, and even fear, for the Fomorians were an enemy that their race didn’t wish to face head-on.
Due to her unique abilities, she could tell that Chloe wasn’t lying, which meant that the young man before her wasn’t someone simple.
Then, the young lady told the Great Shaman how the sky broke apart and countless hordes of Insectoid Monsters from a different plane of existence descended upon the battlefield.
Although Chloe hadn’t been there to witness this all, there were recording crystals that took the video of the battle, which allowed the Historians to write the war as concretely and factually as possible.
Lady Arawina’s hand wrapped around the wooden staff trembled when she learned about the invaders who had come from another world.
After that, she learned that the Fomorians and the Alliance of the Shire Continent had agreed to a non-aggression pact, preventing a full-scale war from happening between their people.
She also learned that Chloe was now able to enter their domain because the seal on Lia Fail had been lifted, allowing her to use its power to the fullest.
When she finished telling her tale, the young lady looked at the Great Shaman, who was still caught up in the events that happened in the outside world.
Lady Arawina only regained her composure a few minutes later, and her breathing had also returned to normal.
"So many things have happened, and yet, we are still here in the Sylvan Realm, where time seems unchanging and where we have been living our lives as we did in the past," Lady Arawina said. "But it seems that the Firbolgs now need to make a choice."
The Great Shaman sighed for a second time before looking at a wooden totem, which had belonged to her Master, who was the former Great Shaman of the Sylvan Clan.
A few more minutes passed before Lady Arawina faced the two teenagers. This time, her gaze was solemn, yet it was filled with determination.
"Before my Master, the previous Great Shaman of our Clan, passed away, she had three visions," Lady Arawina said. "The first one was that the Firbolg and the Fomorians would fight a great war, which would put our race in grave danger.
"After seeing that vision, she had sent messengers to the other Firbolg Clans, telling them what she saw in her vision. The words of a Great Shaman cannot be taken lightly, so many Clans decided to evacuate their beloved Forests and look for more hidden coves, where the Fomorians wouldn’t find them.
"Of course, not all of them believed her. Some chose to stay and fight against the Fomorians, for we are the Guardians who protect the weak and the innocent. My Master, who had seen the carnage of the battle, decided to take our people across the sea to the Shire Continent.
"Here, we decided to spread our roots and live with the locals of these lands. However, she saw a second vision, in which the Fomorians tried to pursue other evacuees of the Firbolg Race and came to this continent.
"At that time, the other Clans decided that they would form partnerships with the Elves and the Fae. They knew that they couldn’t keep running away, so they decided to make a stand.
"However, in order to give a chance for our race to escape annihilation, the Sylvan Clan decided to hide deep into the earth and created Sylvarath Aelindor.
"It is the last bastion of the Sylvan Clan, where we would make our last stand in the case that the Fomorians managed to conquer the lands of Southshire. We have stayed here for hundreds of years, safe behind the Stone Gate, which has countless restrictions, preventing anyone without our bloodline from entering this realm."
Lady Arawina sighed for the third time as she reminisced about the past. A few more minutes passed before she continued whatever she wanted to say.
"But, before my Master breathed her last and returned to the womb of the forest, she told me about her third vision. A High Priestess closely tied to Destiny will come accompanied by a True King. Whether our people join them or not will depend on if they can pass the Trial of Jarnvidr."
The Great Shaman momentarily closed her eyes.
"Back then, I had no idea what she meant. But now, I understand," Lady Arawina stated before opening her eyes to look at Chloe.
"You are the High Priestess of the Stone of Destiny, Lia Fail," Lady Arawina said softly. "And your lover is none other than a True King, I presume? I know from the records of our people that only a True King is allowed to wed the High Priestess since time immemorial."
Chloe nodded. "You are right, Lady Arawina. Truth be told, we came here to explore an Ancient Ruin, but it seems that this place isn’t a ruin at all."
Hearing her words, a bitter smile appeared on Lady Arawina’s face. "It might not be in ruins now, but who knows what the future holds? With the invaders finally breaking through the weave of the Nine Realms, even this place is no longer safe."
The Great Shaman then rested her hands on her lap, as she pondered for a bit.
"I know you came here for a different reason, but since my Master mentioned that the two of you would come, would you like to enter the Trial of Jarnvidr?
"I will be honest, this trial is very dangerous. However, if you pass it, I swear that the Sylvan Clan will help you fight the invaders when the time comes to fight."
Ethan and Chloe glanced at each other because they truly didn’t expect that there would be Firbolgs in the Ancient Ruins that they were planning to explore.
However, if they could gain their assistance in the coming conflict, then doing the trial to gain their trust and assistance might be worth it.
