Chapter 1691: Chapter 1548: The Army Retreats!

“`

It took the Fire Lady’s Fire Sect members an extended period to finally eliminate all the Flower Demons.

However, when their view was no longer obscured by the Flower Demons, what all the alliance expeditionary force members saw was a scene from hell itself.

The ground was scorched, strewn with corpses, human bodies charred, gigantic beasts blasted to smithereens, serpent dragons torn in half, bones of unidentifiable races dragged into the mud and then spat back out, and the dust of plant creatures incinerated to ash swirling above the various corpses.

In short, not a single soul, be it humans or Soul Pets, was left alive!!!

The smoke of gunpowder thickened the air, blurring people’s vision.

Such a scene should have unfolded in the territory of the land of the New Moon, for they were the crusaders, possessing an absolute advantage in military strength and the alliance of authorities from each faction of the Eight Great Powers.

Yet, no one would have imagined that it would be they who met with such a tragic destruction!

The Nightmare Demon Army, of unknown origin, along with the terrifying Flower Demons ambushing from beneath the ground and the pressing forward of the New Moon Army from the East Madness Forest, had completely taken control out of the hands of the alliance expeditionary force.

Raising their heads and looking around, clouds of Demon Flame filled the sky, and the densely packed Nightmare Demons, bright as a multitude of flame-stars, were gathered neatly there, their presence majestic and intimidating.

At the forefront of this expanse of rampant evil flames, a most cold and proud Silver Demon stood in mid-air, looking down upon them.

This was a Demon Man, the widely known Half-demon Bai Yu on the continent. Those at the Sect Leader level had seen him at the Liangkun Mountain Conference, but no one expected his strength to be so frightful that none in the legions could stand in his way in a massacre.

When an Abnormal Human truly exerts all their strength, it turns out they can be powerful enough to obliterate ten thousand armies single-handedly.

Just the presence of Half-demon Bai Yu was enough to shake the morale of several legions, and the Demon standing next to Bai Yu now was even more chilling to the bone.

His body half black and half silver, standing at the very front of the Nightmare Demon Army that resembled a host of stars with blazing flames.

Behind him, forming an arch, stood a group of Silver Nightmare Demons, all molded in the image of the black and white Double Evil Nightmare Demons, looking like a group of shadows of this black and white Demon King. What was even more shocking was that all these Silver Nightmare Demons were of the immortal level, striking fear into the spectators.

Undoubtedly, this Demon split between black and white was the commander of the entire Nightmare Demon Legion!

The past rumors had said that the king of the New Moon land was also a Demon Man, similar to Bai Yu, a Silver Demon.

However, what the eyes of tens of thousands were seeing now was clearly a Double Evil Demon Man, a being unheard of to all, his supreme evil aura pervading heaven and earth as if all must submit to his Demon Flame.

It was not merely his aura that proved how mighty and dreadful the Double Evil Demon Man was; upon laying eyes on him, the legions of the Mu Tian Clan felt a chill creep up their scalps. Right before the battle turned in favor of the enemy, this Double Evil Demon Man began his slaughter from the center of their entire army.

This fiend wasn’t fighting his way out of an encirclement at all; he simply charged where the crowds were thickest, leaving countless dead scorched by his twin Demon Flames, achieving a rate of killing in a short period that was several times greater than Mu Qingyi’s.

The Mu Tian Clan was the most severely divided faction. Two-thirds of their legions were cut apart by the Nightmare Demon Army and unable to receive assistance due to the blockade from the Flower Demon Army.

In addition, the combined slaughter by Chu Mu and Mu Qingyi left the Mu Tian Lineage nearly destroyed!

What’s more tragic, Mu Tian, who had had a secret affair with the Fire Lady, lost a Medium-grade Immortal Holy Light Horned Beast that was killed by Dark King Shang on the spot. Now another Medium-grade Immortal had been killed; the Soul Pets left to him were merely Low-grade Immortals.

Moreover, the severe blow to his soul inevitably made it difficult for him to advance further in his soul cultivation.

With nearly all of the legions annihilated and the clan leader Mu Tian himself seriously injured, the Mu Tian Lineage could no longer be considered a faction within the entire Mu Family Dynasty and might well be reduced to an ordinary family.

For the Mu Tian Lineage, this was undoubtedly a heavy blow.

“Clan Leader… what should we do?” Mu Guangxue supported the pale-faced Mu Tian.

Mu Tian’s expression was as gloomy as it could be. This was merely a small Third-level Earthly Realm, insignificant compared to their great Mu Tian Lineage.

Yet, the Mu Tian Lineage had been decimated here, achieving nothing, and suffered a loss that was nearly irreparable.

“Why, why can this guy control the Nightmare Demon Legion? Those Nightmare Demons clearly haven’t signed a soul contract with humans; how could they possibly be willing to fight for them!!” The Han Sect Leader stared dumbfounded at the Nightmare Demon Army, nearly roaring out loud.

Those were a host of wild Nightmare Demons; no different from the unclaimed Nightmare Demons in the Land of Order, these demons would normally consider humans their enemies, not obeying human commands.

The Fire Lady, Wind Sect Master Tian Huan, and Zeng Long who barely escaped with his life, had all gathered beside Han Yan.

Like the Han Sect Leader, they were astonished, finding it hard to believe that someone could manipulate an army of Nightmare Demons into battle without having them sign a soul contract with humans.

“He is their king,” a voice that was so calm it was eerie slowly spread out.

“`

Han Sect Leader and the others turned around, only to discover a young and noble-looking man standing behind them, his eyes flickering with a distinct purple hue, exuding an innate sense of nobility.

“Young Master Yu, what’s going on? All of us here followed your orders, yet the land of New Moon has so many Experts, and even a Nightmare Demon Army and Flower Demon Army we knew nothing about…” Fire Lady spoke with a hint of anger.

The injured Mu Tian stood aside, his entire being as gloomy as ice. He no longer wished to speak; he just wanted an explanation from Young Master Yu.

It was clear that the land of New Moon was heavily fortified, and with many Strong Ones concealed. If they could have known these details in advance, they wouldn’t have been caught so off guard and slaughtered like this.

“Hmph, the six grand Sect Leaders banding together can’t even take down a king of a private territory,” Young Master Yu scoffed with a contemptuous glance at the crippled remains of their forces.

They all turned pale at Young Master Yu’s words, with Fire Lady retorting angrily, “This guy has gained the power of Monument Tears. Before this power up, I could have crushed him with one hand!”

“He’s not a Monument Tears Inheritor; the power of Monument Tears he possesses is just a few insignificant scraps of his own,” Young Master Yu glanced at Fire Lady.

“He… he didn’t use Monument Tears?” Fire Lady was taken aback.

Everyone else was also stunned.

If he didn’t use Monument Tears, how could his strength have increased so rapidly?

And back in Yin Valley, they hadn’t seen this kid transform into such a strong Black and White Demon.

“He never used Monument Tears, how could his strength have risen so swiftly!” Zeng Long said in disbelief.

“There are many ways to enhance one’s strength in this World, but you short-sighted folks simply do not know where to look,” Young Master Yu stated.

“What’s the use of talking about this now? What do we do? Their morale has greatly increased, and even with the large portion of our Army that remains, if we continue to fight, we might be the ones who lose,” Han Yan stated.

“Let’s retreat for now,” said Young Master Yu calmly.

“Retreat? How can we? Retreating is no different from declaring our defeat outright,” Han Sect Leader exclaimed.

The eight Major Powers’ united crusade was now shamefully retreating from their assault on a private territory. How could they ever show their faces within their own forces again? How would these factions lift their heads again in their own powers from now on?

“The Battle isn’t confined to just you, look over at the Wupan Navy and Ning’s Dynasty. They sent all their forces to the East Madness Forest Fortress, leaving their rear severely undefended,” Young Master Yu said.

“This…” Han Sect Leader lowered his head in thought.

The other Sect Leaders fell silent too. In fact, they no longer had the capital to continue the fight. The Ghost Sect, Snake Dragon Sect, and Mu Tian Clan had been devastatingly damaged, with only the Fire Sect, Wind Sect, Xuan Immortal Sect, and some members of the Divine Sect, along with various smaller powers left. This remaining force was no longer elite.

“Clan Leader, we should retreat,” Mu Guangxue whispered to the clan leader Mu Tian.

At these words, Mu Tian’s rage burst forth, and with a heavy slap across Mu Guangxue’s cheek, he roared, “I told you to deal with Mu Qingyi, yet you couldn’t handle even this trifling matter, not to mention that she wreaked havoc in our Barracks for so long and you still couldn’t take her down, incompetent!!”

Mu Tian’s explosive and fierce nature was fully exposed at that moment.

The other Sect Leaders turned a blind eye to this; their moods were not much better than Mu Tian’s. During the Battle with Chu Mu’s Soul Pets, they had all suffered losses to varying degrees. Although not as dire as Mu Tian, who had even lost his last Medium grade Immortal Soul Pet, they too had lost several Low-grade Immortal ones, with their souls injured.

“Retreat. First, we’ll pull back to the Edge of East Madness Forest and wait for news from the Sea Battle. If they manage to breach those two territories, it won’t be too late for us to attack then,” Han Yan gritted his teeth, making this harsh decision in the end.

The others, not wishing to suffer further losses to their forces, agreed to the retreat.

“Young Master Yu, I have a question,” Fire Lady said quietly.

“Speak.”

“Why didn’t you take action to kill him? With your strength, you could have definitely taken him out unnoticed!” Fire Lady said.

“First, I cannot act recklessly, as some are watching. Second, remember Dark King Shang, who caused you such shame?”

Upon mention of Dark King Shang, Fire Lady’s face darkened.

“If I’m not mistaken, that Dark King Shang is somewhere near him, this land of New Moon is more complicated than I had imagined,” Young Master Yu said.
