Chapter 1741: Chapter 1598: Space Energy Fragments

Chu Mu smiled bitterly. What was the point of thinking about these problems? What mattered now was dealing with the uncontrollable Demon Flames on his body.

When Chu Mu raised his head again, those distant eyes were nowhere to be seen.

Maybe, just as Princess Jinrou had said, it might be imprisoned up there.

A creature imprisoned within the Black Sun — Chu Mu was puzzled. Such a creature had clearly reached the Undying Level, an existence akin to a god. What kind of power was capable of confining it?

Princess Jinrou was still meticulously examining the pattern, while Chu Mu sat amid the flames and began trying to absorb the otherworldly dark energy here into his body to maintain the balance of his attributes.

Unfortunately, the black flame aura within this Evil Temple was far too thick. Attempting to absorb the energy only resulted in the black flames on Chu Mu’s body growing fiercer.

No one knew how long had passed when Princess Jinrou seemed to have given up on studying the spell mark. Her eyes glimmered with an unwilling expression as she glanced at Chu Mu.

Chu Mu shrugged helplessly, indicating that he too had no solutions. Relying on a spell mark to transmit information—such a method was indeed far beyond him.

“Young Master, you could try exploring the Layered Space. It is filled with various spatial and dark elements. Perhaps those energies could help you neutralize the restless Demon Flames within your body,” said Fox Elder.

Chu Mu nodded and flew into the area where countless spatial layers overlapped.

Upon delving into the Layered Space, Chu Mu could distinctly sense the extraordinarily dense spatial and dark elements. Closing his eyes, he tried absorbing these energies into his body using Soul Sense.

The process resembled extracting energy from a Soul Crystal. Chu Mu discovered that channeling the energy into his body to counteract the Demon Flames was indeed effective, though the absorption rate was frustratingly slow.

Generally speaking, the world was imbued with various elemental energies; cultivators, as well as those crystal stones and magic stones, could absorb them as energy sources for their bodies. However, this cultivation method was exceptionally sluggish.

For Soul Pets, their strength growth relied not only on personal cultivation and battles but also primarily on using finished items like energy crystals and Soul Cores, which contained vast amounts of concentrated energy, for direct enhancement.

Although the spatial elements and dark elements here were plentiful, making this place a cultivation holy site, it would take four or five years to balance the attributes in Chu Mu’s body even if he trained here continuously.

Chu Mu didn’t have that kind of time and thus attempted to absorb some energy before starting to roam around the space to see if he could locate any energy crystals that had existed here for ages. That would save significant time.

The Layered Space was vast, and traveling from one space to another required considerable time. Searching for treasures was definitely Fox Elder’s area of expertise. Chu Mu wasn’t lacking the resolve to cultivate; rather, he faced the urgency of time and couldn’t afford to strengthen himself so slowly.

He searched several spaces but didn’t find any energy crystals that had lasted for hundreds or thousands of years. Instead, he found fragments floating within the spaces that contained considerable energy.

“If I could collect these fragments and give them to Ye Qingzi for refinement, perhaps she could forge a decent otherworldly crystal stone,” Chu Mu murmured to himself.

Nearly every spatial layer contained some fragments. These fragments seemed to have undergone years of nourishment from the surrounding energies, fundamentally different from ordinary rock fragments. Every single piece contained a certain amount of energy. Unfortunately, these fragments were scattered excessively, making their collection laborious.

Helpless, with no intact energy crystals to be found, Chu Mu resolved to gather these fragments one by one—a tedious process, but better than having nothing.

“I’ll help you collect them.” Princess Jinrou closed her eyes and released her spiritual intent.

The fragments in the space seemed to be pulled by a powerful magnet, emerging from various spaces and rapidly assembling around Princess Jinrou.

With the increasing number of fragments, the otherworldly energy intensified, making the area encircled by the fragments feel like a vast space unto itself.

Chu Mu stored these fragments into his Space Ring, intending to bring them back to Ye Qingzi.

Afterward, Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou continued searching other parts of the Evil Temple.

The Evil Temple was an enormous labyrinth, and its center was a spatial channel leading to the core of the Land of Order. In other words, the Nightmare Demon Sacred Realm existed and hosted Nightmare Demon creatures because an ancient, multilayered spatial corridor connected the Nightmare Demon Sacred Realm to the Land of Order. Over countless years, some Nightmare Demon creatures traveled the lengthy corridor to reach the Sacred Realm, where they thrived and multiplied.

The Evil Temple also housed various immortal objects, enough to allow a Dominator-level Nightmare Demon to ascend to the Immortal Level. Whatever Chu Mu saw, he swiftly collected without hesitation. Though these immortals couldn’t directly strengthen him, they could enhance the power of Nightmare Demon World Dynasty and New Moon Land.

“It seems there’s not much left to be found,” Princess Jinrou remarked after exploring other sections of the Evil Temple, still preoccupied with the spell mark.

“Yeah.” Chu Mu nodded.

Indeed, the Evil Temple held many eerie and unknown wonders, especially that abyss capable of gazing into the Black Sun. Yet, no matter what, Chu Mu had already reached the High-level Immortal grade. Many peculiarities in the temple were not worth lingering on or exploring at his level.

“I feel like it’s trying to tell us something immensely significant,” Princess Jinrou said.

Chu Mu chuckled bitterly. “Speculation doesn’t help much. If we ever get to the Land of Order and face the Black Sun directly, maybe we’ll get some answers.”

“Then shall we go to the Land of Order?” Princess Jinrou’s beautiful eyes sparkled.

“…”

The Land of Order—an authentic Nightmare Demon territory. It was considered the seventh major race in the world, a land humans dared not set foot on.

Thinking of the Land of Order, Chu Mu was still puzzled about why the Southern Forbidden Region had been razed to the ground.

The Southern Forbidden Region had originally separated the northwest border between Wupan Continent and Struggle Land from the Land of Order. Ning’s Army had breached New Moon Land by passing through the leveled Southern Forbidden Region.

Chu Mu was deeply curious about the Southern Forbidden Region’s mysterious disappearance.

“Whether to go to the Land of Order or not, we need to visit Struggle Capital first,” Chu Mu stated.

“Why go to Struggle Capital?” queried Princess Jinrou.

“The Demon Flames on me are devouring me because I’ve absorbed too much of the evil aura. The Evil Temple can’t restore or refine this energy, so I’ll have to rely on that woman,” Chu Mu replied.

“The Good and Evil Queen?” Princess Jinrou asked.

“Correct, I need her to share the load.” Chu Mu responded.

“Why not summon her here?” Princess Jinrou suggested.

Chu Mu had indeed summoned her previously, but the woman was stubborn and intentionally made him travel to Struggle Capital to find her.

Even though her Flower Pistil was in his possession, Chu Mu couldn’t bring himself to kill her out of frustration. After all, were it not for Yu Suo wreaking havoc in the enemy’s rear, the battle against the Eight Great Powers wouldn’t have ended so quickly.

“She likely anticipated I’d face this predicament. She must have a solution.” Chu Mu said.

“I’ll accompany you.” Princess Jinrou offered.

Seeing Princess Jinrou’s somewhat nervous demeanor, Chu Mu explained, “She poses no real threat to us now.”

“Women who are too beautiful are dangerous,” Princess Jinrou retorted.

During the period in Struggle Capital, when Princess Jinrou was still a ghost, she had noticed the Good and Evil Queen repeatedly flirting subtly with Chu Mu.

With her enchanting floral allure and incomparable beauty that could drive men to lose themselves, coupled with her cunning mind, Princess Jinrou feared that Chu Mu might unwittingly fall under her spell.

Observing Princess Jinrou’s jealous and protective expression, Chu Mu chuckled, “In that case, you’re way more dangerous than her.”

Princess Jinrou blinked adorably, suddenly realizing that Chu Mu wasn’t entirely dense about romantic notions; he even knew how to dish out compliments.

Leaving the Evil Temple behind, Chu Mu and Princess Jinrou returned to Wanxiang City.

As always, nobody dared stand within a meter of Chu Mu.

Princess Jinrou seemed to harbor some guilt and hid away when Chu Mu went to see Ye Qingzi.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had intruded on their love. Previously, she could talk with Ye Qingzi openly, but now, she lacked the courage to meet her gaze. Somehow, Ye Qingzi’s eyes always carried an uncanny ability to pierce one’s heart, as if no small emotion or thought could escape her perception.

Chu Mu handed the energy fragments to Ye Qingzi. However, Ye Qingzi stared at him with her large, wide eyes.

Chu Mu feared that his infidelity had been detected and felt a pang of guilt. He wanted to embrace her, but the flames on his body prevented him from approaching.

“These fragments can’t even withstand the Evil Temple’s black flames. How am I supposed to use them for refinement?” Ye Qingzi scolded.

“Oh… Oh, you’re absolutely right.” Chu Mu slapped his forehead, realizing his serious mistake.

“How much longer can she sustain her life?” Ye Qingzi asked nonchalantly.

“Two months or so…” Chu Mu replied instinctively.

“Hmm.” Ye Qingzi said nothing further.

Two months of life—indeed, it was fleeting and unbearably short.

In truth, Ye Qingzi couldn’t decide whether to pity others or prepare herself for being pitied, as she feared she might accidentally become the next unfortunate one.

Looking at Ye Qingzi, Chu Mu felt a pang of remorse.

But Ye Qingzi approached him boldly, nestling into his arms like a delicate bird.

Chu Mu wanted to hold her but hesitated due to the uncontrollable Demon Flames on his body. “You’ll get burned,” he warned.

Ye Qingzi shrugged indifferently and whispered, “Let it burn.” (to be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian () to cast your recommendation votes and monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please go to m. for reading.)
