Chapter 1750: Chapter 1607: Documents Recording Ten Thousand Years

The secret passage was not very long. While crawling through the narrow passage, Chu Mu suddenly felt it was a bit absurd.

A dignified high-level immortal powerhouse still needed to use such a rudimentary method to infiltrate a secret realm?

But then again, it was precisely because of the simplicity of this method that this heavily guarded Totem Temple now had a gap that could be exploited.

The holy blue skirt outlined an alluring, rounded shape, gracefully and seductively swaying…

Truth be told, Chu Mu found the whole process somewhat embarrassing. Yu Suo, no matter how unpleasant she was, had a figure that could make one’s blood boil. The two of them were slowly crawling in this cramped space…

Fine, just treat it as a perk. Chu Mu decided to widen his perspective—this perk was something no one but him would appreciate.

Finally, the space became more spacious.

“There’s no prohibition here anymore,” Yu Suo turned back and said to Chu Mu.

She herself also seemed slightly perplexed. After entering an unrestricted area, Yu Suo’s body gradually disintegrated into countless petals, as if blown apart by a gust of wind. These petals effortlessly passed through the passage and reached a shaft.

Chu Mu’s body also transformed into a swirl of black-and-white Demon Flame, following the petals drifting forward.

The shaft was approximately ten meters deep, just enough to accommodate two people side by side.

The blue petals gathered rapidly, swiftly sketching Yu Suo’s figure. Chu Mu followed closely and emerged from the black-and-white flames.

Chu Mu looked up and found the area above was actually sealed. He asked, “Is this above your room?”

“Mm, hopefully, no one is living there,” Yu Suo replied.

As she spoke, Yu Suo extended her hand, allowing some flower-like fragments to float out from her sleeve.

These fragments floated upward, somehow penetrating above.

In the Heavenly Palace, powerful individuals were abundant. Any reckless release of perception or Soul Sense could easily lead to detection. Using these fragments, however, allowed for scouting without causing any mental disturbance.

“There’s someone—a maid, cleaning. Let’s wait here,” Yu Suo said.

“Alright,” Chu Mu nodded.

The two remained quietly waiting. The shaft was narrow enough that only the sound of their soft breathing could be heard.

Within the small space of the shaft, the proximity between them was close enough for Chu Mu to smell the fragrance she exhaled. This scent gradually permeated the confined space without notice.

Yu Suo’s fragrance consisted of two distinct scents: one was the elegant and delightful aroma of the virtuous flower, like a lotus—subtle and pleasing. However, when she transformed into the Good and Evil Queen, her scent would shift into a captivating and seductive allure akin to poppies, mesmerizing and intoxicating.

What Chu Mu smelled now was the gentle and innocent fragrance of a maiden, yet at such an intimate distance, it felt even more dangerously alluring than poppies.

Had he not been the one to suggest delving into the Seven Sins Fox’s secrets, Chu Mu might have suspected that Yu Suo had deliberately crafted this seductive trap for him. This woman’s mind was bizarre and mysterious—who knew if she would change strategies to deal with him?

Even though their current relationship wasn’t as hostile as before, Chu Mu remained certain that upon gaining her freedom, Yu Suo’s first target to kill would undoubtedly be him.

“If you dare touch me, I’ll perish with you!” Suddenly, Yu Suo’s icy voice broke through.

Cold as frost and visibly furious, Yu Suo now wished her figure could be slimmer, eliminating the necessity of being this awkwardly close to someone she detested!

“…” Chu Mu was rendered speechless by Yu Suo’s words.

He had actually wanted to assure Yu Suo he had no intention of being seduced by her schemes, but his lack of immediate clarification had now painted him as the vile one!

“She’s gone,” Yu Suo said.

Without another word, she swiftly floated upward, unwilling to remain in close contact with Chu Mu.

Chu Mu couldn’t be bothered to argue about these trivial matters and followed promptly.

Once again, a patterned spell adorned the sealed jade above, which gradually opened.

A beam of light from the window hit the shaft’s mouth directly. As Chu Mu landed on the ground, he discovered an exceptionally desolate room.

The room was spacious, with a white flower bed placed in its center—a clear indication of it being a woman’s quarters.

Surrounding the bed were a dressing table, a wooden fan-shaped chair, a painting table, a bookshelf, and a wall of clothes…

The room was spotless, devoid of dust, but lifeless, evidently unoccupied for a while.

Chu Mu wasn’t interested in any of the room’s furnishings and headed straight for the bookshelf.

The bookshelf was lined with numerous books. Chu Mu randomly opened one, and his expression immediately froze.

The text within the books was entirely foreign to him, resembling an array of symbols and spells etched onto the pages, considerably dampening his spirits.

Chu Mu picked up a book, intending to have Yu Suo decipher it, but noticed she was wandering through the room, occasionally touching unknown ornaments and objects displayed there.

Images began flooding his mind as Yu Suo reminisced, allowing Chu Mu to glimpse her memories as well…

It seemed every item placed in this room carried a small tale. Some memories bubbled up and faded away, stirring emotions, while others felt mundane and trivial.

When Yu Suo’s gaze fell upon a blood-red oval stone, Chu Mu once again witnessed a memory that significantly shifted Yu Suo’s emotions.

The white door slowly opened, revealing blood spread across the blue-black land outside the city—a harrowing sight.

She stood there, despondent, staring at the scene for an immeasurable time without moving.

After what seemed like an eternity, she picked up a bloodstained stone, clutching it tightly in her hand, and silently turned to leave.

Chu Mu recalled asking Yu Suo in that small town if she had done anything for those people.

Even though Yu Suo hadn’t answered, Chu Mu already knew the answer now: the blood-soaked stone placed in this room was meant to remind her of that bloodied memory.

After a long silence, the sound of movement outside interrupted Yu Suo’s reflections. She returned the blood-red stone to the silver plate.

Yu Suo knew Chu Mu was prying into her memories and spoke with a hint of defiance, “Do you think it’s ridiculous?”

“A little,” Chu Mu admitted nonchalantly.

“In the past, I believed that if I tried hard enough, something could change. My thoughts back then were far too naïve. In a system controlled by a single authority, the things you strive for will only be realized if they don’t affect them or serve their interests. Otherwise, all your effort, all your devotion, all your convictions will be swiftly crushed…” Yu Suo said.

“So you’ve been gathering support, aiming to become the sole authority?” Chu Mu asked.

“Mm. The New Moon Land’s war was the same. After New Moon Land’s independence, everyone worked hard cultivating, striving to develop New Moon Land into a stronger territory. But what’s the outcome of growing stronger? Suppression from various boundaries, indifference from the Imperial Clan, combined crusades from the Eight Great Powers. Without the assistance of the Nightmare Demon Legion and the Sea Race, everything we fought to protect would have been destroyed,” Yu Suo explained.

Chu Mu understood this logic too. In the end, the Human Clan’s fate was still dictated by the Eight Great Powers and the Imperial Clan. Though this war was won, it only temporarily suppressed certain ambitions.

If the Eight Great Powers weren’t merely certain factions targeting New Moon Land, and if Yu Suo’s Invisible Kingdom hadn’t devoured those factions, New Moon Land might have become nothing more than history…

Yu Suo didn’t continue the topic. She took the book from Chu Mu’s hand and began flipping through it rapidly.

“This is a document recording the Picture of the Mortal World?” Chu Mu asked.

He had picked the book randomly, unsure if it contained the answers he sought.

“Yes,” Yu Suo nodded.

Her flipping speed was swift, as each thick page’s corner bore unique symbolic markers.

“This one only dates back 5000 years,” Yu Suo remarked as she reached the end. Just as she was about to close the book, she suddenly paused and inspected the final few pages.

“Have you seen this pattern before?” Yu Suo pointed to the symbols.

Chu Mu scrutinized them, feeling a faint sense of familiarity, but shook his head.

“What about this painting?” Yu Suo turned to another page.

The page depicted a colorless drawing—a grand hall, with the main seat occupied by a creature half-human, half-demon on its upper body and serpent-like on its lower half, reclining as if in slumber.

“Ancient Jiao People!!” Chu Mu gasped inwardly.

What was depicted here was unmistakably the Ancient Jiao People!

“Could it be that the Ancient Jiao People were sealed by one of your Heavenly Palace’s Totem Believers?” Chu Mu asked, astonished.

“The documentation here suggests that 5000 years ago, a Totem Believer participated in the sealing of the Ancient Jiao People,” Yu Suo replied.

“Does the text elaborate further?” Chu Mu asked urgently.

Yu Suo shook her head. “The records only specify the sealing time, intensity, and a general description of what the Ancient Jiao People are as beings. Such concise entries suggest that the Totem Believer merely assisted in the effort. The one who truly sealed the Ancient Jiao People wasn’t her.”

With that, Yu Suo tossed the book back onto the shelf.

She extended her hand, causing another book to float over and open automatically.

This book seemed to contain records over 10,000 years old, which Yu Suo perused with greater focus.

Chu Mu stood nearby, unable to read the text but able to interpret some of the ancient illustrations.

Such a thick book must contain countless unknown secrets!
