Chapter 1753: Chapter 1610: Theft of the Divine Dew

“It’s indeed here. Everything in the Heavenly Palace is utterly unchanging,” Yu Suo said, a smile blooming on her face.

Behind the curtain ring where the woman was cultivating, there was a lotus pedestal resembling a lamp stand. On its exquisite surface rested a crystalline droplet, sparkling as if liquid, yet steadfast like a pearl, refusing to dissipate.

Chu Mu was still marveling at the origins of the Human Mother when Yu Suo, clutching the item she desired, walked back to him.

“Is she truly the progenitor of humanity?” Chu Mu asked.

“Her bloodline is. The human race is divided into countless sub-clans; those with higher bloodlines have higher social status, superseding ordinary sub-clans. The ruling positions belong to the great clans. Long ago, humans weren’t separated into so many sub-clans, but rather originated from a small singular tribe. Her bloodline traces back to the earliest human tribe,” Yu Suo explained.

“You’ve got what you came for?” Chu Mu glanced at the object in Yu Suo’s palm.

“Yes,” Yu Suo nodded.

“That simple?” Chu Mu remarked.

Yu Suo, aside from entering through a secret passage to this Goddess Building, had conducted the rest of her operation openly. The Divine Dew, incredibly precious, seemed to be just an ordinary decorative item in the room—easily taken away.

If it were truly this simple, why would she drag him along?

“Taking it is easy. Bringing it out? Nearly impossible,” Yu Suo replied.

“So what’s the plan?” Chu Mu asked.

“I’ll consume the energy of the Divine Dew as quickly as possible. During the time it takes for its energy to dissipate, the Guardians of the Heavenly Palace might discover something amiss. You must protect me with all your might while I refine it,” Yu Suo said earnestly.

Chu Mu’s face visibly darkened. “This is no different from courting death. I can’t even deal with that Qin Ji you mentioned earlier!”

“You’ll have to hide. Later, I’ll give you pointers on relatively safe spots. While I absorb the Divine Dew’s power, I can conceal my aura, but its energy may leak out. You’ll need to constantly reposition yourself, buying time until I finish absorbing the Divine Dew,” Yu Suo instructed.

Seeing Chu Mu’s reluctance, Yu Suo continued, “Relax. The disappearance of the Divine Dew won’t alarm the god-level beings of the Heavenly Palace. Loss of pseudo-divine artifacts like this will first alert the Palace’s Imperial Guards. Initially, it’ll be Qin Ji and his guards tasked with tracking us. Though further lockdowns will follow, by that time I’ll have completely assimilated the Divine Dew’s energy. Unless they comb through the Heavenly Palace room by room, they won’t find us.”

“Easy for you to say! Why don’t I absorb the Divine Dew’s energy and you take me to hide?” Chu Mu countered.

If they were anywhere else, Chu Mu might have agreed. But after witnessing the extent of the Heavenly Palace’s terror, how could he not be apprehensive? One reckless outburst from this frightful place could condemn a thriving race to thousands of years of curses.

“Fine. Then two months from now, you can quietly watch Bai Jinrou lie back in the Ice Coffin again. Let me responsibly tell you this—Bai Yu won’t be able to obtain the true resurrection technique from Master Rong of the Hidden-Pupil Royal Family. The Naihe Flower does indeed possess resurrection abilities, but reviving within its pre-Undying level state comes with unbearable consequences. Do you think Master Rong would imperil his precious Naihe Flower just to save a random person?” Yu Suo retorted.

Chu Mu’s brows furrowed. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”

“Even if I did, do you think he’d back down? The jade pendant Master Rong gave him does allow Bai Jinrou to resurrect, giving Bai Yu hope. Even knowing it could be a trap, knowing he might be used…” Yu Suo trailed off.

“What’s Master Rong’s status then?” Chu Mu pressed further.

“A prominent Immortal Master of the Roulette Temple, adept in various eerie crafting techniques, including soul refinement and Soul Pet creation,” Yu Suo revealed.

Chu Mu thought back to his conversation with Bai Yu in the Nightmare Demon Sacred Realm. A lingering unease gnawed at him—Bai Yu seemed acutely aware Chu Mu might not return safely. He had left no parting instructions, only because he trusted Chu Mu to care for the person most dear to him.

“How long do you need to refine the Divine Dew?” Chu Mu asked.

“Not long. I’ve already begun absorbing its energy. Soon, they’ll notice the energy leakage,” Yu Suo said.

Chu Mu’s eyes widened in disbelief. This woman dared to act before he even agreed!

If not for having her Flower Pistil in his possession, Chu Mu might’ve believed Yu Suo had conspired to ensnare him.

“Open your Soul Pet Space—I need to cultivate inside,” Yu Suo demanded.

This was the first time Yu Suo had asked to enter the Soul Pet Space. Yet before realizing it, Chu Mu felt the oppressive presence of a powerful Soul Sense approaching. He couldn’t help but want to sever his soul contract with Yu Suo and leave her to fend for herself.

She had stolen from the Heavenly Palace, absorbed the artifact’s energy to enhance her strength, and needed him to safeguard her. Chu Mu now fully grasped this woman’s malicious intent behind inviting him along on this perilous venture.

Reluctantly, Chu Mu opened the Soul Pet Space, allowing Yu Suo to transform into a cascade of petals, carrying the energy-seeping Divine Dew inside.

Even after the space closed, Chu Mu could feel the distinctive energy of the Divine Dew trickling out like threads of a spring—any keenly perceptive Soul Sense in proximity would easily detect it. No amount of darkness or spatial concealment could hide him from discovery.

“Can’t you control the energy from leaking?” Chu Mu vented his discontent.

“I can, but during each stage of breaking through the Tenth Rank bottleneck, a residual amount escapes my grasp. When I’m striking the bottleneck, it’d be best for you to avoid proximity to the Imperial Guards,” Yu Suo explained.

Breaking through bottlenecks often isn’t an act of instant triumph—it’s akin to tides battering against cliffs, requiring multiple surges to make the leap. Should Yu Suo fail repeatedly, Chu Mu would face relentless pursuit from the guards!

“I’ll guide you on how to avoid them, but at times you’ll have to improvise. If surrounded with no escape routes, don’t resist—let them capture you and bring you back to the Human Mother. Then we’ll awaken her…” Yu Suo instructed.

“What happens if she awakens? Do you have a way to negotiate with her?” Chu Mu asked, glancing at the woman behind the curtain, whose beauty radiated an aura of danger.

“Unclear. It depends on her mood. At least it can buy us some time…” Yu Suo replied.

Chu Mu’s forehead was covered in exasperated lines. All along, he thought this scheming Yu Suo had meticulously planned the theft and flawless escape. Who knew she was operating with a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants strategy?

Had he known, Chu Mu wouldn’t have followed her to this dreadful Heavenly Palace.

“Let’s return to my room first and leave the Goddess Building through the secret passage. Though the Human Mother is cultivating a sense-deprivation practice, there’s no guarantee she won’t suddenly open her eyes. If she wakes, I have no hope of resisting,” Yu Suo said.

Feeling that Yu Suo had already started absorbing the Divine Dew’s energy, Chu Mu glanced back at the woman behind the curtain.

Suddenly, her eyelashes subtly trembled—as though she might open her eyes!

Chu Mu felt a jolt of alarm. In that instant, he thought she resembled someone deeply familiar. It was precisely this familiarity that sent chills down his spine.

Without hesitating, Chu Mu turned and left the Human Mother’s room.

The Human Mother’s quarters were connected to Yu Suo’s room by merely a sky corridor. Fortunately, he encountered no one along the corridor and safely reached Yu Suo’s room.

Pushing open the door and closing it behind him, Chu Mu felt an unsettling gaze upon his back.

It was as though an invisible pair of eyes lingered behind him—a gaze so familiar and enchanting it could draw him into oblivion.

Chu Mu shook his head to banish the image of the Human Mother’s eyes from his mind.

She hadn’t opened her eyes—this must be Chu Mu’s imagination playing tricks on him.

Under the vast starry skies, atop the towering Heavenly Guard Tower, the white Flood Dragon suddenly opened its half-closed eyes. A fierce arc of lightning shot toward the Goddess Building.

“What is it, old friend?” Qin Ji said, sipping his wine.

The white Flood Dragon fixed its gaze on the Human Mother’s attic, seemingly picking up an unusual disturbance.

“Hurrrrrrrr~~~~~” The Starry Sky Flood Dragon growled, communicating its findings to Qin Ji.

“Energy fluctuations from the Divine Dew? With the Divine Dew under the Human Mother’s care, no thief would dare attempt to steal from her quarters,” Qin Ji remarked, raising the wine jug for another sip.

Suddenly, Qin Ji furrowed his brow, his drinking halted mid-motion.

“Audacious!” Qin Ji scoffed, flinging away the wine jug. His previously relaxed gaze turned icy cold. “Let’s go see.”

The Starry Sky Flood Dragon unfurled its tail from the Heavenly Guard Tower, its slender body threading through the sky corridors and the Sky Bridge before it aimed straight for the forbidden Goddess Building.

Qin Ji stepped onto the sky corridor. Chanting a spell, he broke the restriction on the Human Mother’s quarters and pushed the door open.

Standing at the door, Qin Ji cast a brief glance at the Human Mother, encased in protective veils.

His cold gaze softened momentarily, replaced by a trance-like bewilderment, before regaining sharp clarity.

He offered a salute to the sense-deprived Human Mother and strode toward the lotus pedestal.

The pedestal lay bare, its droplet of Divine Dew long gone.

Qin Ji’s expression grew frostier. Without a word, he turned and exited the Human Mother’s quarters, radiating an ominous chill.
