Lucan finally stopped laughing and eyed the young lady, who didn’t use that opportunity to escape.
This made him adore her more than ever because who wouldn’t like a beautiful lady, who was also brave at the same time?
“You are really perfect, Princess,” Lucan said. “If I didn’t know better, I would have thought you were the child of our Queen, Miriamelle of Chandrea.”
“Is that your last words?” Zia asked, unfazed by the confidence, and power that was oozing out of the Artemian Commander’s body.
“Princess, I don’t think you understand your current situation,” Lucan replied with a smile. “The tables have turned. You are no longer the hunter. Instead, you have become my prey.”
“Is that so?” Zia snapped her fingers, and countless golden chains erupted from her body. “Let’s put that to the test, shall we?”
Lucan smirked and decided to play along with the princess. He could spare her five minutes of his time, to break her spirit, and make her understand that she didn’t have the power to defy him.
He even made sure to fly slowly, as if wishing to see her reaction of fear, and hopelessness after she had unleashed her trump cards against him.
Lucan was confident that no matter what the princess threw at him, he would be able to destroy it without fail.
“Heaven Slaying Arts… Fourth Form,” Zia said. “Let there be silence, where once there was song.”
“Choir of Silence.”
The chains rattled, sounding like countless pealing bells that drowned the surroundings with the sound of their tolling.
This lasted for only a few seconds, so when the chains stopped shaking, all sound disappeared from the world.
Lucan who was preparing for a powerful attack from the Princess, frowned because the attack he was expecting didn’t arrive.
However, he did notice something.
He couldn’t hear anything.
“Well done, Princess,” Lucan said.
At least, that was what he tried to say, but even though he opened his mouth, no sound came.
If you had ever experienced true silence, you would know that this silence was a very painful experience.
At first, you wouldn’t hear anything, but soon, you would hear a ringing sound in your ear, which many would call tinnitus.
Yes.
The sound of silence was like that.
It was a very painful thing that a few had experienced in their lifetime.
A pain that wouldn’t go away unless a sound was created.
But, as if the entire world had turned mute, no sound was heard anywhere.
Even if Lucan tried to laugh, or shout, nothing broke the silence.
“Petty tricks!” Lucan shouted, even though no sound came from his mouth. “If this is the only thing that you can do, you should just surrender to me, Princess! That way, you won’t get hurt.”
The Artemian Commander then saw Zia slowly raise her right hand, and pointed towards the sky.
She was saying something, but Lucan was unable to hear it.
However, he was able to see what was happening when he followed the location where Zia was pointing at.
The golden chains had all shot towards the sky, past the dark storm clouds that blocked the light of the sun.
From afar, they looked like golden strings, hanging onto the clouds. But, Lucan could tell that something was happening in a place where his eyes couldn’t see.
The chains then all disappeared as Zia mouthed some words, which Lucan had tried to read.
While he wasn’t proficient in lip reading, he was able to decipher what the young lady had said, which made him frown.
From high above the clouds, something golden pierced through it.
It was then when Lucan realized that the young lady had unleashed an attack that he never saw coming.
The golden chains had merged together to form a giant pointed tip, which was now descending upon him with fury.
Lucan tried to escape, and fly away, but realized that he was stuck in place, unable to move.
Out of desperation, he took out his life saving artifact, which allowed him to teleport a hundred miles away from where he was.
This was the final time that he would be able to use it because it had limited uses.
However, nothing happened when he tried to activate it.
The artifact broke into pieces in his hands, as if it had finally been used up.
Left with no other choice, Lucan summoned a sword that was twice the size of his body.
He then raised it in preparation to strike, and shouted his battle chant.
But, no sound escaped from his lips.
He simply slashed at the incoming giant needle, whose power he couldn’t appraise, or measure.
When his weapon, and the tip of the giant needle collided, his sword instantly shattered as if it hit something that couldn’t be sliced in half.
The Artemian Commander’s eyes widened in shock because what he saw was simply impossible.
He was now a High Archon.
A being that was as powerful as the Artemian King, whom he served.
A true powerhouse that was only a rank below the Fiends, and the Celestials!
A being that shouldn’t lose to a young lady, who was many years younger than him!
“Let the Heavens hear my roar!”
“Fers Du Celestia!”
The sound of the world finally returned to Lucan’s ears.
It was the voice of the young lady, who sounded like an angel, both soothing, and deadly at the same time.
It was also the last thing that he heard as he roared a soundless roar before the tip of the giant needle pierced through his chest, and dragged him towards the ground.
A powerful, yet silent explosion, covered the land in a radiant light.
When the light receded, a crater that was several miles wide appeared in the location where Lucan and the giant needle had hit the ground.
Zia coughed a mouthful of blood, dying her clothes with her own blood.
She then looked at the heavens one last time before she lost consciousness, and fell from the sky.
The silence of the world had disappeared, and a strong earthquake shook the land.
The battle between Zia, and Lucan ended just like that, and no one had seen it, aside from the twinkling stars from the heavens above.
