Aaron and Norman also paid close attention to the battle taking place in the Cygni Continent.
Their spies, as well as the news, showed a live broadcast of the battle, and from what they could tell, the defenders were going all out to ensure that the Jinns would not prevail.
Unfortunately, the gap between the high-ranking fighters of each side was simply too wide.
After the ammunition was all used up, the Jinns started their counterattack, leading to the Wanderers giving up their bases to flee.
“A futile struggle,” Aaron said in disdain.
“It’s a good thing we don’t have to play the fool and act like we care for the Cygni Continent anymore,” Norman commented. “Why fight a losing battle?”
Aaron smirked, agreeing that this was indeed the case.
A moment later, the captain of the plane informed them that they would arrive at their destination in twenty minutes.
The two Monarchs exchanged a glance with each other, knowing the moment of truth was at hand.
“Strange, Lawrence is not doing anything,” Aaron frowned. “I thought he would immediately mobilize his army to attack us during our journey.”
“Well, even if he did, he is bound to fail,” Norman replied. “Our aircraft carriers have already positioned themselves in our flight path. They could try to get in our way, but their ending would be annihilation.”
“Well, more than half of the army of the Central Government is now in the Cygni Continent,” Aaron stated. “Perhaps he realized he didn’t have enough soldiers to send our way.”
“That guy loves his soldiers very much,” Norman chuckled. “But this is for the better. As long as we don’t attack his bases in the Aldebaran Continent, he will probably not pursue this matter any further.”
“You think it’s that simple?” Aaron arched an eyebrow.
“It doesn’t matter.” Norman sneered. “What can he do to us at this point in time?”
“True.” Aaron nodded. “I can’t wait to massacre the Leventis Family. Let’s just leave behind Zion’s family and Arthur’s wives. As for the rest, kill all without fail.”
“Of course.” Norman agreed. “We need them as hostages. How else can we force Zion and Arthur to do our bidding?”
While the two discussed their strategy for invading the Leventis Residence, Lady Callista had been informed by Lawrence about the impending danger that would befall their family.
“So the time has finally come,” Lady Callista said as she looked outside the window of their room. “I knew those two bastards would do this. It was only a matter of time. After all, we’ve never seen each other eye to eye.”
The fiercest lady of the Leventis Family then glanced at Michael, who was waiting for her orders.
“Did you already evacuate our people?” Lady Callista asked.
“Yes, Mother,” Michael replied. “I made sure to send them to the shelters Zion had created for this moment. Only the Champions and Grandmasters of our families are left in this residence. They will fight with us to the death.”
A faint smile appeared on the beautiful lady’s face because this was the moment of truth.
“Have you informed Gerald and Alessia?” Lady Callista inquired.
“Yes.”
“What did they say?”
“They said they’re just waiting for Rhia to finish watching her favorite cartoon before they make their preparations.”
A chuckle escaped Lady Callista’s lips before she shook her head helplessly.
“They’re not taking this seriously,” Lady Callista commented. “We’re about to face two Monarch Clans and their lackeys, yet they’re prioritizing Rhia’s favorite cartoon show?”
“Yes.” Michael sighed helplessly. “They’re not taking this as seriously as we do.”
“I’ve known Gerald since he was a child,” Lady Callista glanced in the direction of the mountain where Zion’s family lived. “If he can act like this, it means he’s not worried about the Ashford and Stallard Clans knocking on their doorstep.”
“Maybe Zion made arrangements that we’re not aware of.” Michaael crossed his arms over his chest. “That is the only explanation I can think of right now.”
Suddenly, a loud explosion reverberated in the surroundings, making Lady Callista’s and Michael’s expressions turn grim.
“They’re here,” Lady Callista said.
Michael nodded and followed his mother to face the two Monarchs who had come to eliminate their entire family.
———
Gerald, who was reading the newspaper, looked outside through the window after hearing the loud booming sound from the direction of the Leventis Family.
“Honey, they’re here,” Gerald said.
Alessia nodded and stood beside her husband.
Although she looked calm on the surface, that didn’t mean she wasn’t feeling anxious in her heart.
A moment later, a siren blared, informing them that several people had entered the mountain leading to their home.
As soon as the two adults stepped out of their house, they found countless Wanderers jumping off planes and summoning their flying avatars.
It didn’t take long for their house to be surrounded by the elites of the Ashford and Stallard Clans.
Inside their living room…
“Uncle, it’s noisy outside.” Rhia pouted. “I can’t watch because it’s so noisy.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll make them stop being noisy.” Rhia’s uncle lightly patted her head before handing the little girl to her sister, Remi.
Remi hugged Rhia and looked at their Uncle who had been living with them for nearly a week.
At first, they had been very anxious around him. But after knowing how friendly and kind he was, the family gradually opened up to him.
“Boo, Albion, protect them, okay? I’m heading out for a bit.”
“”Yes, Sir!””
The Beholder and the Unicorn both replied in unison and watched as the majestic figure walked away to deal with the noisy people, who were making Rhia unable to watch her favorite cartoon show quietly.
When Gerald and Alessia saw their guest exit the house, a look of relief appeared on their faces.
At that moment, a shout filled with authority reverberated in the surroundings.
“If you don’t want to die, surrender peacefully,” a Captain of the Ashford Clan declared. “I promise you will not be harmed as long as you obey and come with us.”
“Is that so?” Rhia’s uncle smirked. “What if we refuse?”
The Captain of the Ashford Clan narrowed his eyes, realizing that the person standing in front of him wasn’t on the list of people said to be part of Zion’s family.
“Enough talk. Kill that man, and capture Zion’s family!” the Captain ordered.
“”Yes, Sir!””
Dozens of Wanderers descended from the sky with their flying mounts, targeting Gerald and Alessia, who were standing right beside each other.
At that moment, a giant centipede rose up from the ground and sliced the Wanderers and their flying Avatars into pieces.
The Captain of the Ashford Clan gasped in shock because the giant Centipede looked very familiar.
“Y-You!” the Captain then pointed at the man, whom he didn’t recognize. “Who are you?!”
A chuckle escaped the man’s lips as his clothing burned away, revealing his true form.
“Impossible?!” the Captain shouted in disbelief. “Why are you here?!”
The Lord of Death, Erasmus, chuckled a second time before snapping his fingers.
Countless undead monsters then appeared out of nowhere and circled the army that had surrounded the mountain of the Leventis Family.
There was a reason why Gerald and his family weren’t too worried about the attack of the Monarch Clans. For one, Zion had already anticipated this to happen and told them about it.
He didn’t know how Erasmus managed to leave the Rigel Continent and appear in the Aldebaran Continent.
However, they were more than happy to welcome him. After all, he was the Guardian Zion had chosen to protect his family.
The Undead Wyvern King, Vannaroth, and the Undead Centipede King, Jalrog, stood beside their Master and spoke in unison.
“”Behold, the Bringer of Doom, Lord Erasmus!””
Erasmus raised his finger and pointed at the Captain, who had talked down to him a while ago.
“Would you like to try dying once?” Erasmus asked the Champion, whose face had turned completely pale.
“R-Retreat!” the Captain ordered before forcing his flying avatar to escape.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
With a snap of his finger, the Captain was pierced by a bone spear, dying instantly.
However, the next second, he started moving again, and this time, his loyalty no longer belonged to the Ashford Clan, but to the Lord of Death, who had come to defend Zion’s family.
“Undead Legion, heed my command,” Erasmus shouted, his voice echoing like thunder across the battlefield.
His skeletal hand rose, wreathed in violet flame, and the ground itself began to tremble.
“Those who dared to raise blade against Zion’s family, erase them from the earth!”
A thousand hollow eyes gleamed as they locked their gazes on their foes. Rusted weapons lifted. Bone and steel creaked in unison.
“Tear down their hopes. Drown their courage. Let their screams write the symphony of my vengeance!” Erasmus declared.
The skies blackened as if the world itself recoiled from the appearance of a monster who had defied his fate.
“March, my cursed children, and make these Wanderers beg to join our army of the dead!”
With a deafening roar of chains and bone, the undead surged forward like a flood of nightmares, and the air was filled with the sound of a thousand deathless war cries.
Blood rained from the sky, as Erasmus’ undead army answered their master’s call for vengeance!
