"Rakon." Leon nodded his head at the loyal and well performing White Millipede. As he looked at Rakon, he recalled a matter that he had left unattended to from back when the war with the Demons was still ongoing.
"What do you need me to do, Your Excellency?" Rakon could tell that Leon had something on his mind.
"How is that matter I asked you and your people to look into? Did you find the source of those phantoms?" Leon asked.
"Yes, we have found the source of the phantoms, but it is rather troublesome to handle on our own because of their numbers and strength. Shall I lead you to it?" Rakon responded.
"No, not yet. You can show me after we are done here." Leon hummed and said. Rakon bowed his head and left after being dismissed, leaving Leon to deal with other matters.
It was at this time that a familiar person walked over.
"Leon." Eugene said with a smile on his face, walking over to Leon.
"Dad. Good to see you again." Leon grinned and hugged Eugene. The other Cromwell's strength had also grown well in Leon's absence, and he was a newly ascended B rank.
"We've been hearing a lot about the trouble on Rivera. I guess only exciting things like that catch your eye, huh?" Eugene said as he pulled back.
Compared to a few months ago, he was much better appraised of the ongoings of Datar. He had made sure to shore up on knowledge that would help him better survive in this world, which included knowing the makeup and division of the world. He had already gotten a lot of public information on Rivera, as well as a few more bits of information that was normally out of reach to ordinary people, by virtue of his identity as Leon's father.
ραndαsΝοvεl ƈοm Leon smirked at his father. Of course, only interesting things caught his eye. He was not the kind of person who liked to sit still for long. Now that he had the chance to seek out exciting things, why should he not do so? Not to mention, this time, the exciting thing sought him out!
Soon, more people gathered. It was not a particularly large gathering, just a small circle of people that Leon saw as important in Fort White.
In the time he had been gone, a proper city had been developed, with Fort White at the center. With the growth of the city, more and more administrative and official positions were needed to properly manage everything. Because of that, there were a lot of new faces that Leon had not seen before. These people had been carefully selected by Rakon after a thorough screening of their backgrounds and capabilities.
"Y-your Excellency, Leon! It is an honor to finally meet you!" A middle aged man with a thick brown beard and a bald head bowed his head when Leon sat at the head of the large table. His name was Ulric Dew, and he was the one in charge of the economic development of the flourishing nameless empire.
Speaking of names, that was something Leon had to address. He could not rally the masses and build a proper sense of belonging among them if they did not even know the name of the empire they were gathering under. The sooner this was addressed, the better.
Several other people with important administrative positions expressed their stance and loyalty to Leon before the banquet started proper. Drinks were passed and food was served. Everyone made merry and took advantage of Leon's presence to try and make a good and lasting impression.
A couple of hours later, the crowd dispersed to rest for the night and prepare for the next day. With their Emperor soon to return, there was a lot to be done.
.
.
"Hope you didn't wait too long." Leon asked as he walked up to the rail of the balcony on the second floor of his mansion.
"No, the stars kept me busy." Elena replied as she turned to look at him. Her blue eyes sparkled in the darkness of the night, turning them into captivating orbs.
Leon walked up to her side and handed her a glass of wine. She took it and could not help but sniff at it.
"Wine? Never smelled one like this before." Elena's eyes widened and she took a sip, savoring the taste.
"Yeah, it's not something you find easily in these places." Leon smirked. He had brought some things back with him from Earth, and this bottle of wine was one of them. It was only normal that it was something different.
The two of them stood under the night's sky for a while. No words were exchanged until Elena stepped closer and leaned her head on Leon's shoulder. Leon also put a hand around her shoulder.
"You know, we haven't actually addressed this." Leon said, his voice quiet and comforting.
"Mhm." Elena nodded and raised her head to look into Leon's eyes as he peered down at her. A couple of seconds passed before he leaned down and took her lips. Elena felt as if her body was melting like ice. It was her first kiss, with the one man she felt such emotions for.
After a few moments, Leon pulled back. His hand rose to cup Elena's cheek.
"I think I'm smitten. I most certainly am." He said with a low chuckle.
"Mmm..." Elena hummed and her eyes looked away while her cheeks turned red to match her hair.
Leon understood why she was flustered and he laughed again. "Don't worry, we will take things slow. One step at a time. Also, I need to have a long talk with Rodius." He said and his gaze turned back to the stars, prompting Elena to also turn back to them.
Together, they stood there, under the watch of the bright, twinkling stars. At the same time, Leon's loyal subordinates worked together to ensure the security of their master and his chosen partner.
