Devin left the meeting room in haste but all the while his mind was fluttering over Ethan's words. He is unable to connect the dots that Wilbur and Ethan were inferring because he has a crisp collection of his memories. He never had an accident to forget his memories. He even remembers his childhood memories crisp and clear. He brushed off the thoughts aside when his head throbbed in pain just like a few days back and straight away went to the office room. Soon, William entered the room with a file.
"Ethan left the office." He answered putting a file on the table.
Devin simply nodded before replying. "Check the proposal of Davies company and if it is good, recommend it to dad. He will take care." Having said that, he got up from the seat to leave for the day.
"Alright." William nodded. Then why did he come to the company if he wanted his dad to intervene? Did they both fight in the room?
"Are you leaving already, Devin? I have seen the news of your relationship status and I am very happy for you."
"Thank you, uncle." Devin genuinely thanked him with a smile.
"When is the wedding then?" William asked.
Devin didn't know how to answer the question. The thought of marriage didn't cross his mind and he is yet to propose to her officially. "We have just started our relationship and haven't yet talked about marriage." He doesn't know if Leena would agree to marriage right away.
"Good decision. Enjoy your life before marriage." He whined in a low murmur.
"You are telling as if you are not enjoying your marriage life now," Devin remarked. Even Wilbur tells the same thing despite his love for Jane.
"Let me tell you a fact, Devin. After marriage, only one person is always right in the home and the other person is the husband." William stated, remembering his wife's torments. Before marriage, he always used to carry a bunch of roses in his hand and going behind his wife and after marriage, he was running behind the supermarkets to get the bunch of vegetables
"Well, I can relate it now itself." Devin chuckled. Even before marriage, Leena warns him that she is the one who is going to wear pants in the home. When she got to know that he was the one who sponsored Leah's and Austin's honeymoon, she diced him until he promised that he would not waste money on unnecessary things. Remembering her, he missed her already.
"I am off to go." Devin bid goodbye and walked out of the office.
...
When the flight landed in New York, it was already evening. Devin neither went to the office nor to see Leena. He called Francis for his availability and straight away drove to heacis home. Although Francis informed him to visit when he was free, Devin was impatient to know the truth. What's so secretive that he warned not to tell Leen the verity.
Right when he walked into the house, he was greeted by the housekeepers, Caleb and Grace. Despite he was born into a rich family, Devin treated everyone equally.
"Francis is waiting for you in the study room," Caleb replied.
"Thank you." Devin walked upstairs and pushed open the door of the study room where Francis was deeply engrossed looking over something with interest.
"Looks like you are very curious," Without lifting his head, Francis asked.
"I am not curious, France. I am desperate to know. Anything related to Leena is my top priority." Devin's rationale earned a smile on Francis's face. Indeed, Francis expected it from him.
"Sit down." He continued looking into the file. "I will quickly finish reading this."
"What's so interesting that you have been concentrating on that paper from the time I arrived?" Devin asked with curiosity and peeked into it.
"It seems that crazy brat got a dream recently and she wants her story to be produced into a movie." Francis handed the manuscript to Devin which Leena has sent today. "And she chose me as a scapegoat for sponsoring the movie."
As Devin read the story, his head started hurting. Slicing the tree vertically and killing a person with grape? That's wild. She must have lots of aspirations. "Along with producing a movie, you might have to start an award company also."
"I bet she would come up with that soon." Francis shook his head and closed the file powerless to read it anymore. If this is produced into a movie, he would be called insane just like her. "Let's go. I have to put a stop to it for now." Having said that, Francis got up from the place.
"Can't we talk here?" Devin asked. What's so serious that he is refused to talk when only he is around.
"Before that, I have to show something." Francis's face grew momentarily serious.
Devin did not speak, silently followed Francis and when they both entered the bedroom, Francis pushed a curtain that was hanging close to the wardrobe. A beautifully wooden crafted design in ebony was engraved to the wall. For others, it's just a design but only he knew it leads to a secret room. Since Leena wanders into his bedroom now and then for some stuff or sometimes acts as a detective searching for things, he was afraid that she would stumble upon something which she shouldn't see. So, he has secretly hidden everything in a safe place.
Both of them entered the void where a huge vault was put in the room. Francis marched forward and keyed in the password. He took the document case where an umpteen number of letters and pictures were loaded in it and placed it in front of Devin.
"Open it." Francis urged him to unfold it.
"What is this?" Devin asked in confusion.
"Open it, you will know," Francis stated.. He wanted to see whether he would get the same reaction as he experienced when he first received them.
