Damnation flew back using jets of fire burning from her legs. Everything from below her knees had turned into a cone of hellish crimson flames, propelling her like a supersonic rocket.
Arad followed after her, running with his pure physical might. Each step left a gaping hole in the white ground, sending cracking that spread like waves. His sword flew down at her, aiming to slash her legs off in a single move.
Damnation had seen too much in her life to be caught this easily. Vulkan’s body wasn’t weak. In fact, it was probably one of the strongest bodies in the whole world. The only thing holding her back was the ingrained fear, the deep sense of doom and hopelessness of facing the inevitable.
Damnation twisted her knees and instantly changed the direction of her flight. Unlike Arad, who was running on two legs and confined to two dimensions, she could maneuver upward and fly away.
Damnation knew that Arad should be able to fly if he wanted, but in this fraction of a second, she should still be able to get above him and strike down.
As she changed her direction, Damnation turned off the fire from her left leg and swung a kick at Arad’s sword arm, kicking his wrist and forcing him to drop the sword.
The sword flew away, spinning faster than the eye could see, and hit the ground, sending a shockwave powerful enough to rip a city in half.
Damnation landed behind Arad and looked at him with a worried face. At least he lost his weapon now. “I still have to insist. I’ll do anything if you’ll let me leave, live, or anything.”
Arad looked at his empty hand and smiled, “That was a mistake, do you know it?” He suddenly disappeared from her vision. She was too late to react as Arad already stood behind her, his open palm flying to her lower back like a burning meteor.
Arad’s massive hand slapped her butt, ripping the skin off and sending a shattering shockwave up her torso and into her stomach, causing her belly to rip open and her organs to explode forward in a splatter of guts and blood.
It was a miracle that she didn’t evaporate from taking a full power slap. Arad even felt a sharp pain in his palm as if he had slapped a solid piece of steel.
Vulkan’s body flew away faster than sound and smacked into the far walls of the chamber, sending a massive cloud of dust and debris. She then landed on her legs as crimson flames burned from her wounds, reforming her body from the boiling lava.
No wonder her body was so hard and durable. All of her titanic being and might was made from volcanic stone, enchanted with magic, and now compressed to the size of a two-meter-tall human woman. As Arad slapped her, he could swear that she was several times heavier than his draconic body. It was expected since while he was a kilometer-long dragon, she was an eighteen-kilometer-tall Titan.
“Damn it.” Damnation gasped, falling to her knees and barely managing to support herself with her hands. She had never felt such pain in her life. His slap didn’t just blast her body to pieces. It actively sent an equal and powerful flat impact through all of her nerves, forcing all of them to fire at once, screaming in agony.
“Say, who taught you to slap like that?” She looked at him, and he replied.
“A half-elf woman called Dalla.” Arad looked at her with a smile.
“Say, does she need a training dummy by any chance? A slave to suck her toes? I heard elves love that.”
Arad chuckled, “I doubt that, and even if she wanted one, she has many maids working beneath her.” He then crossed his arms, “So? Did you get enough time to rest, or should I keep talking a bit longer?”
She sighed, “I still need a few seconds to silence the pain. You don’t seem to be in a hurry to kill me. Should I take that as a sign that you can spare me?”
Arad titled his head, “Not really. You can’t teleport or leave this chamber anyway, so I’ve got all the time in the world to kill you. And I do want to test all of my attacks at full force at you before that.”
She giggled, “So you’re using me to test the damage of your attacks, see how far they can go. Listen, I don’t mind living like this. How about it? You let me live, and I’ll be your punching bag.”
Arad laughed, waiting for her to fully recover. “Keep dreaming. I’ll keep growing stronger. You’ll be at best useful for a year at most.”
She sat down and immediately fell on her face, groaning in pain. Her butt had healed, but the nerves still throbbed in pain. Even the slightest touch could cause her enough pain to kill a person.
“So you aren’t willing to torture me for a year? Then you have some morals? So do you think that using me as a test subject now is any better? You’re basically torturing me.” She lay on her side, looking at him.
“Say that to the thousands of people who were burned alive for decades, slowly cooked alive, and their souls still feel the burning pain. It doesn’t matter how much pain and suffering I cause you here. It is never going to compare with a fraction of what you caused.”
Arad had thought about it. Does Damnation deserve a painless, quick death? The answer was clear. She doesn’t. If he could, he would leave her burning for thousands of years to pay back the pain she caused to all of those Titans and humans.
If she had caused them a collective one thousand years of burning pain, she deserved to be burned for two thousand to pay their debt and interest. They didn’t ask for the pain and never deserved it. That is why she has to suffer more than she caused.
It was even in her name, Damnation. The condemnation to eternal suffering in hell. In fact, that name was strangely fitting as she caused many people to suffer burning pain indefinitely, even if that power was largely Vulkan’s fire magic.
It was then that Arad paused for a second.
^Hold up, wait a minute. Something isn’t right.^ Vulkan shouldn’t have been able to bind souls to her fire creations. Where does Vulkan’s power end and Damnation start?
“How does your power work?” Arad asked, and she looked at him. “Finally getting interested in me?”
“Forget it. I’ll just keep skinning you alive until you die of pain.” Arad cracked his fists, and she gasped.
“Wait! Wait! I’ll speak! Just give me a second!”
