The Evolution Of A Goblin To The Peak
Chapter 1139: The Demon: Geyvin’s troubleChapter 1139: The Demon: Geyvin’s trouble
On another planet.
The planet lay in devastation, teetering on the brink of collapse. This place was supposed to be the meeting point, now it was nothing but ruins.
Geyvin heard a sound. He looked down at the device wrapped around his wrist and saw a flashing message.
"What...?!" Geyvin’s eyes widened.
"What happened, Sir Geyvin?" Resin asked, sensing the shift in his tone.
"It’s an emergency," Geyvin said grimly.
A planet under the Astros Empire’s rule had collapsed, completely wiped out. Along with it, several members of the Council had perished. A warning message was sent out just before the end.
"The Silver Falcon Group... they were there," Geyvin said slowly.
"The Silver Falcon Group? They were here?!" Resin’s voice rose in shock.
"Who sent them?!"
He, of course, knew the infamous group, powerful and elite. But what were they doing on a planet belonging to the Astros Empire?
"Yes, they were there... and now, they’re gone. That’s the problem," Geyvin said. "We don’t know who authorized it. It must have been someone influential in the Council."
He paused, his expression turning darker.
"However... before they vanished, one of their members managed to send a distress call."
"What about it, Sir?" Resin asked, frowning.
"It’s said that they encountered a demon within the Astros Empire. They requested reinforcements because the demon was too strong," Geyvin said through gritted teeth. His fists clenched tightly. "We’re the ones in charge of the Astros Empire, and yet some people within the Council are interfering! Now everyone who was sent there... is gone!"
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm within him. Then he turned to Resin.
"Let’s go. We’ll talk more on the way."
Resin nodded solemnly, fully aware of the weight of the situation.
They boarded a ship, which immediately took off toward the Council of High Worlds.
Inside, Geyvin connected to the other Council officials through the communication system.
"Who authorized the deployment of those groups without my permission?!" he demanded, his voice sharp with fury.
"This is my jurisdiction! You had no right to interfere!"
His anger surged as he sought answers, whatever had happened had completely disrupted his plans.
The appearance of the Silver Falcon and other groups came as a complete surprise to Geyvin. He hadn’t sent them, so who did? Even worse, they had all perished after encountering a demon.
The planet where the distress signal originated had been completely destroyed.
A projection of his colleagues, officials with authority equal to his, appeared before him. They looked at him and shook their heads, offering their opinions.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Yeah, I’m not involved in your campaign over there."
"Maybe it’s because you’re taking too long to assimilate them."
Hearing their responses, Geyvin clenched his fists. He couldn’t tell whether they were being honest or lying. He checked the data logs, but there was nothing—no trace of who authorized the deployment.
Perhaps... it was someone with a higher authority than me...
With a frustrated sigh, Geyvin ended the call.
He had no idea who had interfered with his plans or made the situation worse. One thing was clear: the Astros Empire would no longer be willing to listen to the Council. Every future encounter was now likely to lead to conflict.
Geyvin stood up and activated his communication device.
"Monitor the movements of the Astros Empire," he commanded. "Maintain a safe distance. Do not engage under any circumstance."
After ending the call, he let out a long sigh and sank back into his seat.
Resin remained silent, standing nearby.
Geyvin replayed the recent events in his mind, trying to piece together a trail, any clue that might reveal the mastermind behind the interference.
Time passed quietly, and eventually, he dozed off in his chair.
He was roused by Resin’s voice.
"Sir... Sir, there’s news."
Geyvin’s eyes snapped open. He turned to Resin, still groggy. "What is it?"
Resin hesitated, visibly troubled. "This... I don’t know how to explain it."
He simply gestured to the screen. A video began to play.
Geyvin’s eyes widened as the footage unfolded before him.
"T-This can’t be...!" he muttered in disbelief.
In the video, hundreds of figures stood motionless in the vast darkness of space. Their features were obscured, cloaked by the overwhelming energy they radiated, so intense that it distorted the footage itself.
Even so, from their silhouettes alone, Geyvin could make a chilling guess.
He connected the dots. His expression darkened.
"Demons..." he muttered, voice low and grim.
A gathering of powerful demons, beings from the Divine World, was facing the planet under the Astros Empire’s rule.
Why?
Why are demons here... of all places?
No answer came to him.
But one thing was clear: this was far beyond anything they had prepared for. The presence of such high-level beings meant only one thing, disaster.
Ring!!
Geyvin flinched and turned toward his device. The call display flashed. The higher-ups were contacting him.
With a heavy heart, he reached for it, knowing that what came next would change everything.
He picked up the call, and his superior’s voice came through immediately, stern and urgent.
"Geyvin! Get out of there! We need to be extremely cautious with our movements!"
Geyvin took a deep breath. It was clear now, the higher-ups had already received word about the demons appearing in the Astros Empire.
"What happened, sir?" he asked calmly.
"What happened?! You’re there, and you’re asking me?!"
"I’m aware of the situation," Geyvin replied. "But I’m asking about our current course of action. I haven’t received any directives yet."
There was a brief silence on the other end before the superior spoke again, voice heavy.
"Just return. The council officials are informing our Monarchs as we speak. We cannot afford to act rashly, not now, not when the demons have directly contacted our council."
"Understood," Geyvin said with a nod.
It was clear now: the demons had detected them.
The priority was no longer reconnaissance or territory.
Right now, the only thing that mattered, was not provoking a catastrophe.
Or else, it would lead to total war.
Geyvin immediately ordered his men to return to the Council. All Council ships operating within the Astros Empire’s territory were to withdraw without delay.
...
Tension ran high among the Council’s upper echelon. They were now dealing directly with demons, an unpredictable and overwhelming force.
They were not blind to what was happening in the Divine World. Reports made it clear: the demons were rampaging across continents, waging war against countless factions without pause.
Even the Council of High-Worlds could not afford to face such power head-on.
So, negotiations were made.
To avoid full-scale conflict, the Council conceded the entire territory of the Astros Empire to the demons. Along with the land, they handed over all the intelligence they had gathered about it.
The demons now possessed everything the Council knew about the Astros Empire.
And still, the Council walked on eggshells, utterly cautious in every interaction with these powerful beings.
The demons began sweeping through the Astros Empire, tearing through cities and systems in search of something.
Back in his office, Geyvin inhaled sharply, his face pale as he read through the report detailing the demons’ activities.
"The demons destroyed planet after planet... The Astros Empire has fallen, and the higher-ups are nowhere to be found. For now, it seems we’ve managed to avoid becoming the center of the battlefield."
Geyvin turned and gazed out the window. He muttered under his breath, "Something big is about to happen in the Divine World... If that monster truly came from Olympus, then those two factions are bound to clash."
The Divine World, a realm where God-rank beings walked the land, was beyond anything he could fathom.
It was a place far more dangerous than anything in existence.
Geyvin shook his head, pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind. The matter with the demons was settled, and the Imperium was beyond their reach. There was no use in worrying about it now.
For the time being, his focus should be on the one trying to harm the Council from within.
Previously, someone from the Council had ordered an attack on the Astros Empire without Geyvin’s consent.
Fortunately, it hadn’t involved the demons—otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
...
Territory of the Astros Empire.
The region was utterly desolate. Nearly every planet under its control had been obliterated by powerful demons.
Most inhabitants had evacuated, and those who hadn’t made it in time perished.
Planet Astley.
A group of demons floated in the sky, gazing down at the planet with cold, indifferent eyes.
The world was lifeless and abandoned.
Once a thriving center of the Astros Empire, it now lay in complete ruins.
"They’ve escaped..." the leading demon muttered.
"It doesn’t matter that we failed. At the very least, we confirmed that someone from Olympus was ruling this place. Perhaps they’ve already returned to the Imperium," another demon replied.
"Olympus... It won’t be that simple. We must inform the Demon Pillar about this," the leading demon said, narrowing his eyes.
Olympus was a colossal organization based in the God’s Continent. It was one of the recognized Holy Lands, known for its immense military strength.
At present, Olympus was under lockdown.
Unbeknownst to many, Olympus was engaged in a brutal conflict with the titans and giants, factions powerful enough to rival other Holy Lands. No, the titans were once considered a Holy Land.
Only a handful of demons were aware of this truth.
"Let’s head back," the leading demon said, casting one last glance at the ruined Astros Empire before soaring upward.
The rest of the demons silently followed.
