The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 901 - 901: Spending Time With His Mother-In-Law“You are back,” Miko Hiroshi said, smiling as Klaus entered a large hall in the main mansion where they were received. She was the only one there, suggesting his wives had already left for the mansion they would be staying in.
Klaus nodded with a smile and took a seat.
“Did he make things difficult for you?” Miko asked, but Klaus shook his head.
“We had some interesting conversations. Nothing too serious to the point you should be worried, mother-in-law.”
“I guess that is good to hear. Though if he had tried to make life hard for you, I would have stepped in and taught him how to treat his son-in-law.”
Klaus laughed, hearing how caring his mother-in-law is. Of course, Klaus is adorable. No mother in this universe wouldn’t want him around their daughter.
The brat may be hated by the heavens, but everyone loves him. And this is all Klaus wanted. Having moments like this, although trivial to many, Klaus knew he needed them.
His life is not like everyone else’s.
His life was painful, and he knew it.
He witnessed all the moments Fruity, his third incarnation, nearly broke when the pressure became too much.
Sometimes, when everything seemed to be settled and he was about to have a moment of respite, the heavens stepped in just to turn everything upside down.
In moments when his wives would face harrowing dangers just to confront his enemies, which in this context, the heavens always broke his heart.
If anything, Klaus wanted to live a happy life, but the heavens wouldn’t allow him.
So moments, regardless of how small they are, were all he could ask for.
If, for now, he gets to live this life, then soon, regardless of the danger he finds himself in, he will know that at least he has lived moments like the one he and his mother-in-law were about to embark on.
“Why don’t we take a walk? I would like to see more of this place,” Klaus said, and his mother-in-law was more than happy to do that.
They left the mansion and headed westward, where even from afar, Klaus could see the tree line. It appeared to be a self-created mini forest, one they perhaps wanted to keep the air fresh.
“That was a personal project I indulged in. I happened to have awakened the wood element, so being around nature is something I find fascinating,” Lady Miko said, walking beside Klaus, who took her arm in his as they moved.
Though he may be a brat, his mother taught him how to treat a woman right.
“That is impressive. One of my wives has the wood element too. I must ask, how does it feel to be so attuned to nature on such a scale?
I mean, what most warriors do is destroy things. However, looking at your forest, I am sure you are someone who seeks to preserve it. So, how do you feel when the natural environment around you is being destroyed?”
“To be honest, it is depressing sometimes.
However, I also understood that this was the apocalypse, and knowing that not everyone was like me, things wouldn’t always go the way I wanted them to, so I could only adapt and live as society demanded.
Perhaps, one of these days, I will find a place where life is much more in tune with the way I want to live.”
Klaus nodded, already expecting such an answer.
Lucy had already said something similar when he asked her the same question.
Back when he was on the run with them through the universe in his 4th incarnation, whenever they had a moment of peace, Lucy always tried to create a mini forest where everything was perfect.
She liked to live within her element, so whenever she saw someone harming nature, it pained her to watch. Of course, in the end, it was a matter of personal preference.
She couldn’t impose her preferences on anyone, just like how others couldn’t impose on her. But as life magicians, treating nature with dignity was something they always liked to practice.
“Maybe you need a break. So, I guess when my wife goes to the Amazon rainforest, you should tag along. It would be a refreshing experience for you.”
Lady Miko nodded. Though she hadn’t said it, she was already planning on taking such a trip herself. She had already reached the Sovereign stage and would soon become a transcendent.
To her, that would be enough to live a couple of thousand years and experience nature as she wanted. But then again, if only she knew her son-in-law already had bigger plans for her.
They soon moved through the small forest and headed to a different section, where dozens of warehouses were scattered throughout the area.
“That is our storage warehouse for storing our weapons and other materials. In case you’re not aware, the Hiroshi family deals in weapons such as spears, swords, sabres, and the like.
It is our major source of income even before the apocalypse. Of course, back then, our focus was more on the minerals used for said weapons.
But even then, we had a large collection of swords that we sold to all sword enthusiasts.”
“I will come later to see if I can get myself a good sword. I happen to have a thing for weapons, you see,” Lady Miko laughed.
Soon, they approached a couple of mansions. Klaus immediately knew they were for Aoi and her siblings.
Each of them had their own mansion and a few guest mansions, such as the one where Klaus would be lodging with his wives for the next three days.
They spent close to 4 hours just moving about, sightseeing all the amazing environments within the Hiroshi family.
Klaus was pleased with the tour, and Lady Miko, who ultimately gained a deeper understanding of Klaus’s character, was also glad to have spent time with him.
After a while, they moved back to the main mansion, where Lady Miko quickly prepared tea.
Klaus drank happily, and after a few more hours talking about random things, which mostly revolved around Aoi’s childhood, Klaus left to go spend time with his ladies.
On the way, he met Mio and Miki, Aoi’s two sisters.
“Finally done flirting with your mother-in-law, I see,” Mio started, already planning on making Klaus blush.
“What do you expect, Mio? You already saw the lineup he brought. Perhaps he wanted more, and that was why he set his sights on Mom.”
“Are you planning on killing our old man, huh, Klaus? Do you already have a plan in mind?” Mio laughed.
“Maybe he had already done it, considering we haven’t seen him after the dinner.” The two sisters laughed, but Klaus just smirked and walked closer to them, stopping a few steps away.
“I happen to have values, ladies. Lady Miko is amazing, but she is married, so I wouldn’t cross that line.
However, you two are still single, and well, I have a thing for single ladies, so perhaps you should tread carefully… You wouldn’t know when my claws sink into you.”
Klaus’s golden eyes gleamed as he smiled and walked away, leaving the two sisters blushing heavily. They came to make Klaus blush, but he left them with their cheeks as red as a ripe tomato.
