2932 Integrating Blood
“The Martial Sages of human civilization have succeeded in annihilating all the quasi-Transcendent beasts and monsters!” A wave of jubilant relief washed over the projections of all the leaders of Sage-level nations gathered in an enormous conference hall in the Vargard Royal Palace. They had gathered in a conference meeting for the final battle, tensely going through all the intelligence gathered by the distant jets on the ensuing battle.
The outcome of this battle would have serious consequences for human civilization.
It was only after the confirmation of their victory and the success of the mission that they had been assigned had come that they had finally been able to breathe easily. Their stiffened shoulders relaxed as their hardened bodyframe drooped a little as the tension in their bodies was gone.
If even a single quasi-Transcendent beast and monster escaped the Beast Domain, it would wreak untold havoc across all of human civilization. And this time, there would be no Martial Sage in the Human Domain to protect them from the destruction that would ensue. That was why not a single leader of the Sage-level nations around the world could contain their jubilance and relief at the good news.
Emperor Rael limited himself to a deep, relaxing breath before opening his powerful, golden eyes and directing a sweeping gaze across his fellow leaders.
“This is indeed cause for celebration.” His voice was rich. “We must honor the Martial Sages with our sincere appreciation and gratitude for their decade of perilous labor in exterminating the frenzied monsters of the Central Highlands of the Beast Domain. We will even hold grand banquets and events for when they return. However…”
His golden eyes sharpened. “We must not forget the fact that the most dangerous and difficult part of the mission still remains. Do not lower your guard just because one threat is dealt with.”
The various leaders of the Human Domain nodded with a serious expression.
Until the Beast That Roared was still alive, humanity would never be safe.
“Your Majesty,” the Director of the Solution of Harmony task force addressed the Kandrian Emperor, “according to the Martial Sages, they will be recuperating and taking a well-earned period of rest, at least until they have each fully recovered.”
The Emperor of Harmony nodded with a serious expression. “Of course, they have more than earned it. If not for how serious the situation is, I would have gone as far as to insist on doing more for them, but that is not viable in our current circumstances. Let them take as much time as they deem necessary, and strive to meet all their demands. For now…”
His attention turned to a series of documents neatly arranged before him on the table. “We have more immediate matters that require attention. I’m sure that all of you have gone through the analytical report compiled by the Beggar Sage and the Psycher on the psychological and sociological development of blood humans.”
That was the technical term that they had adopted for any and all individuals that were descendants of the Blood Goddess with any amount of her blood running through their veins. Given that these individuals most of whom were still children, were of a different species that happened to be genetically compatible with the human species, they needed their own designation.
Of course, Emperor Rael had chosen to keep this designation confidential because he didn’t want to contribute to the growing perspective that these children were ‘different’ from the rest of human civilization.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t something that could be stopped either.
“According to a meta-analysis conducted by the Psycher on a series of surveys conducted by the Beggar’s Sect across human civilizationconducted by the Beggar’s Sect, controlling for age, sex, race, ethnicity, and even nationality,” the Emperor of Harmony continued with a strong tone, “the past ten years has seen a growing degree of fear, disgust, and even hatred towards blood humans, as measured in the responses of participants of the surveys to a rigorous set of questions and images relating to that of blood humans and that of other races and ethnicities…”
Emperor Rael directed a serious gaze across his fellow leaders, “the Psycher writes that the high mortality rate of mothers giving birth to blood humans was the inception of this prejudice and hatred towards blood humans and since then, the many accidents and incidents involving blood humans leading to injuries and even deaths among normal humans have led to even greater prejudice, fear, and hatred towards blood humans in the past decade.”
Unfortunately, as foreseeable as this was, it was not avoidable. If not for the Divine Doctor’s genius, they would not have been able to even have normal women give birth to a blood human due to her being unable to bear the physical strain of the fetus and birth on her body. It was only thanks to his biotechnological solution, in conjunction with the biotechnological aid provided by the Blood Cult, that they were able to give birth to blood humans at all.
But alas, the process was still very dangerous, at least until the Divine Doctor, the Esoterist, and the Blood Cult completed the next generation of solutions that would get rid of the problems entirely.
But the damage had already been done.
The birth of blood humans was now associated with death and loss.
It couldn’t even be helped; humanity was a species that was prone to prejudice based on all manner of differences. It would have been a miracle if, instead, all people could simply ignore this and treat the blood humans the way they would any other human being.
“The degrees of prejudice vary significantly, of course, with the minimal prejudice coming from the Blood Cult itself for obvious reasons, as well as the Gen Temple that has managed to integrate these blood humans in the best, and my very own Kandrian Empire which has minimized friction,” he remarked with a hint of pride in his tone. “However, there have been nations where the integration of blood humans has not only not made any progress, but has instead made progress in the opposite direction.”
He directed a pointed gaze at the interim King of the Solaris Kingdom, whose expression darkened despite his golden skin.
