The Strongest Dull Prince’s Secret Battle for the Throne
Chapter 615: Leo's ArmyChapter 615: Leo's Army
The armies of William in the north and Ansem in the south continue to advance rapidly. In comparison, Leo's army seems somewhat lackluster, to be honest. This is primarily because the royal army is already in a state of disarray. Now that Ansem has joined us, it's safe to say the kingdom's defeat is imminent. This is not a battle to seek victory, but to seek substance. The focus is on how many lives can be saved. In other words, the enemy is weak. Or to put it another way, we are strong. Despite this, Leo's army is struggling to advance.
"Now then, I wonder what kind of face Leo is making?"
"Your Highness, may we descend to the main camp?"
At Finn's words, I nod. Finn, with his overwhelming air superiority, is directly under the command of the Supreme Commander's headquarters. This allows me to head to the front lines immediately if a troublesome enemy appears. Around him, Elna and the third imperial knights brigade have set a solid formation. Even for the Supreme Commander's movement in the sky, security is strict. However...
"Is that alright?"
"What do you mean?"
"If the Supreme Commander suddenly appears from the sky, it will cause a commotion. The soldiers will probably be upset."
"Let them be upset. I didn't come here on an unofficial visit."
"Understood."At my words, Finn nods and descends towards Leo's headquarters, in the center of the main camp where many tents are lined up. Finn and Nova land there. As I get off his back, Elna and the others immediately form a guard formation.
"You're overdoing it. We're in a friendly camp, you know?"
"We can't be careless. You're the Supreme Commander now, after all."
"I suppose you're right."
In this case, Elna is correct. Nodding, Elna smiles slightly and announces loudly.
"Make way! His Highness, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Arnold Lakes Adler, is passing through!"
The soldiers who had gathered around, wondering what was happening, all wore surprised expressions and stood at attention to salute. A path was cleared to Leo's tent. Soldiers who had come to see what was going on, soldiers who were working, soldiers who were just walking by. Everyone noticed me and saluted. I returned their salutes. Although it was bothersome, it was a courtesy to the soldiers fighting on the front lines. As I did this, General Harnish, who was under Leo's flag, rushed over in a panic.
"Supreme Commander! I'm sorry for not greeting you!"
"I'm the one who came unexpectedly. Don't worry about it."
He must have hurried out considerably. Harnish is not even properly wearing his armor, and his clothes are disheveled.
"Put on your clothes properly. You'll be laughed at by the soldiers."
"I'm sorry!!"
Harnish, showing an embarrassed expression, immediately fixed his disheveled clothes. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd point out someone else's disheveled clothes. Life is full of surprises.
"How's Leo doing?"
"Sir, Prince Leonard is currently scouting the front lines."
"So, the one in charge of the headquarters here is Vin?"
"S-Sir! With all due respect, the failure to progress in the capture of the city is not due to Prince Leonard..."
"General, stop the unnecessary excuses. The fact remains that you're not delivering results."
The one who interrupted Harnish's words was Vin, who had come out of the tent. His expression was grim as expected. However, he still bowed politely and invited me into the tent.
"I'm grateful for your long journey, Supreme Commander. I will explain the situation on the front lines inside."
"I'm counting on you."
I've known Vin for a long time. Even so, we both have our positions. A military adviser directly under Leo cannot show disrespect in front of the soldiers. Even if we both dislike it.

"Why did you come here?"
The moment I entered the tent, Vin told me with a stunned expression.
In response, I answered while sitting on a chair inside the tent.
"Am I not supposed to?"
"Do you lack the self-awareness of being the supreme commander? The enemy's winning strategy is to take your head. That may not change the overall situation much, but do you realize that you are being targeted out of proportion?"
"I am aware of it."
"Why didn't you stop him? Have you forgotten your duty as a bodyguard?"
"I did try to stop him! He didn't listen!"
"Stop him by force! That's your role!"
Vin is right.
If Leo were the supreme commander and I were the front-line general, then if Leo came to the front lines, Elna would have said the same thing to Vin, who was nearby.
However...
"You're only good for your brute strength, have you even forgotten that?"
"What did you just say!? Have you forgotten that as a child, you lost in scores to me, younger than you, in academic tests? You were always studying, weren't you?"
"Well, the old you was better. You made Al listen to you by force. It's pathetic to regress."
"I'm getting angry! Shall I punch your annoying face until it's cute!!"
It's just like Vin to make unnecessary remarks.
Giving tit for tat.
Elna always loses in verbal arguments, but she's also unteachable for accepting the fights.
One might say it's their twisted way of communication.
Elna, who looks ready to pounce at any moment, is held back by her subordinates of the royal guard.
In a sense, it's a familiar scene.
"So, what's the situation?"
"The next three cities have robust defense networks. Their preparation and morale are way above other cities. We started attacking once but the enemy general's response was too magnificent. Leo decided to switch to siege, assessing the damages. There was also the option of taking other cities, but unless these three are conquered, it would affect the attack on other cities. So, we are taking our time now."
"You were off, Elna."
"About what?"
"You said Leo was mooning over Leticia, didn't you?"
"I...you don't have to say it!"
"Unlike you, Leo is diligently fulfilling his role."
Elna appears too mortified to even speak.
After being told twice, she looks like she wants to bite, but she seems to understand she's in the wrong.
However...
"I wish Leo was slacking off...things don't go as planned, huh."
"The original general in charge of this region has already fled. Now, the person who ascended to lead the cities did so in an ad hoc manner."
"What does Leo think?"
"Leaving them alone is too risky. As the person is a psychological pillar of the surrounding regions, if we can do something about this general, other cities should agree to surrender."
"What's the general's name?"
"We only know the surname. The enemy general is 'Dorolm'. Not a noble, but a commoner. Originally, he was just a squadron leader."
"A commoner, huh..."
Upon hearing the distasteful word, I let out a sigh.
If it were a noble, we could easily get in, but a person who, without any particular backing, was promoted by those around him in an emergency is tricky.
It means he has certain abilities.
"Is it inconvenient if he's a commoner, Al?"
"I don't care if he's a noble or a commoner...I know one troublesome person who originated from the commoners. You can't let your guard down around someone who shows promise during war."
"A troublesome person?"
"Our esteemed Chancellor."
Hearing Vin's answer, Elna seemed to understand and murmured, "Ah, I see."
