Chapter 696: Chapter 696: Not Allowed to Be Cold to Me

(Chapter 10)

After treating Li Haiyang, Luo Ziling went to look for Phoenix. He had thought that Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun would be together with Phoenix, but unexpectedly, he saw these two guys in the courtyard, while Phoenix was not with them.

“Comrade Young Master, our business is done. How about we wait for you outside,” Yang Xiaodong pointed outside the sanatorium, “we’ll call us after you’ve finished with your matters.”

“Where’s Phoenix?” Luo Ziling slightly frowned, his eyes fixed on the two men in front of him. He tried to see if there were any signs of a fight on them, to glean from their faces whether they had won or lost a skirmish, but to his disappointment, he couldn’t make anything out.

“We don’t know where she went either,” Yang Xiaodong said, then signaled to Wang Zhenjun, “Let’s go out. Soon, people from Dragon Rise will come looking for trouble with us again.”

Luo Ziling caught something unusual from Yang Xiaodong’s use of the word “again.” It seemed that these two guys really had a conflict with people from Dragon Rise, only they hadn’t been beaten up.

Unable to get information about Phoenix’s whereabouts from Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun, Luo Ziling had to go look for her himself. Whether Phoenix had discovered him or someone had reported to her, while Luo Ziling was searching aimlessly, Phoenix called him and asked him to meet her inside a certain building.

When Luo Ziling found Phoenix, he saw her standing by the window of a room on the first floor of that building, expressionless and staring outside as if in a trance.

There was nothing much in the room, just a few simple pieces of furniture. On the table, there was a cup of hot tea, which seemed to have been recently drunk by Phoenix.

“If there’s anything else, just say it,” Phoenix said without turning around, still standing in her original posture.

Phoenix had a tall figure and a good body. Just the sight of her back could evoke an inexplicable impulse in men.

However, the chill that she invisibly radiated was enough to instantly dispel any such thoughts.

Luo Ziling wasn’t afraid of her. Upon entering the door, he seriously took in her silhouette and even complimented her, “You have a nice figure, almost perfectly proportioned.”

Phoenix hadn’t expected Luo Ziling to make such a joke and suddenly turned around, glaring at him with a hint of irritation.

Only then did Luo Ziling realize that Phoenix had taken off her mask. He was now facing a beautiful but emotionless face, cold enough to make one shiver.

Luo Ziling completely disregarded Phoenix’s cold demeanor and muttered discontentedly, “I really can’t understand you guys, why do you always have to put on this cold facade? Look at my two bodyguards, they’re always talking and laughing. If you didn’t know who they were, could you tell at first glance that they’re super soldiers? Definitely not, but with you, anyone could probably guess your identity just by seeing you.”

“What do you mean?” Phoenix furrowed her brows and asked unfriendly.

“What I mean is, as a woman, you should learn to smile and show your most beautiful side to others. That way everyone will find you charming. As a special forces soldier, you should seem no different from anyone else. Most of the time, people should mistake you for an ordinary person, not be on guard around you. That makes it easier for you to succeed in what you do. Otherwise, as soon as you show up, people will be on alert and guard against you, which drastically lowers your chances of success,” Luo Ziling spoke very directly, without any reservation.

Phoenix was suddenly at a loss for words and could only retort with a muffled grunt.

Luo Ziling ignored her unfriendliness, walked up to her, sized her up, and then kindly reminded her, “I feel like you might be slightly unwell, your complexion isn’t very good. How about I take your pulse and see if there’s an issue? If there is, I can treat you or whip up a prescription to help you recover, how does that sound?”

As Luo Ziling reached out his hand toward her, the murderous look on Phoenix’s face intensified, but Luo Ziling didn’t care and maintained his posture.

“No need,” finally, Phoenix coldly refused, “I’m very busy, just say what you need to say!”

“Even the old leader of your organization trusts my medical skills so much, yet you look down on me. In the future, if you have a problem and seek my help, I won’t come to treat you,” Luo Ziling said pettily, then seriously asked again, “I’ll ask you one more time, do you want me to check on you? If not, there won’t be another chance.”

Phoenix became even more irritated, but she didn’t voice her refusal, only giving Luo Ziling a cold look for a while.

In the end, she softened her tone, “We’ll talk about it next time, I have important things to do in a bit, so speak your mind now!”

“The next time you want me to examine you, you’d better ask nicely, or I won’t be interested,” Luo Ziling thought back to his previous two interactions with Phoenix and felt somewhat spiteful. However, he didn’t dwell on the issue, but rather got to business, “About the cooperation in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals, I’ve asked the seniors, but as you are currently in charge of Dragon Rise, I still need to discuss it with you. I’ve agreed to provide a formula that can help with rapid wound healing and recovery for you to produce, and I’ve already obtained the complete recipe from my grandfather. But now that I have shares in Lingyun Pharmaceutical, if we’re going to collaborate, we’ll need to sign a cooperation agreement with Lingyun Pharmaceutical. If you have no objections, send someone over to sign the cooperation agreement with Ouyang Feifei!”

To Phoenix’s surprise, Luo Ziling took the initiative to bring this up, and her icy demeanor noticeably thawed. After thinking for a moment, she immediately agreed, “Okay, I will send someone to contact you, or I’ll look into it myself, to sign the cooperation agreement as soon as possible.”

“I am agreeing to contribute this prescription to you, considering your role, and Lin Lan’s, but whether or not you give me compensation, and how much, I really don’t care. I just don’t want to see you guys showing me that cold face as if I owe you millions. It baffles me; I’ve helped you quite a bit and even saved several of your people, yet when you see me, you look at me as if there’s a deep hatred. Isn’t that a bit excessive?”

The last thing he liked to see was a beauty showing him a cold face; it was unpleasant and hurt his pride.

Phoenix was caught off guard that Luo Ziling would bring up such topics, and eventually, she lightly uttered three words, “Got used to it.”

Luo Ziling suddenly felt the urge to spit blood. Could this sort of thing really become a habit?

But he didn’t give up on the issue, continuing, “So, I’m making this request, from now on, when you see me, you’re not allowed to act like this, at least you, as the captain, can’t look at me with such hatred.”

“What else?” Phoenix’s demeanor wasn’t cold anymore, but her voice was still flat and emotionless.

“Give me an identity document for a Dragon Rise member.”

“Can do!” Phoenix agreed without hesitation.

“Also, tell me where Lin Lan is now, when she’s going to return, and why she had to leave.”

“Do you really want to know?”

“Of course!”
