I made a face, “Let me guess… That’s when some of the more senior Mercenaries started threatening them?”

He nodded, “And then they utterly beat them without even trying… Those four that you met earlier… They wiped out two B Ranked parties all on their own…”

Ok, I didn’t exactly see their stats so I’m not sure how strong they were but… I dunno, I think I can take on all four of them on my own… Unless they have some kind of artefact that makes them stronger which they did not use in the confrontation with Ather and Katsuki of course.

The Guild staff continued, “They are quite ruthless as well… Three of the Mercenaries they beat up needed a Healer Tier Iatromancer to fully recover…”

I slid the bag off the counter before nodding at the Guild staff, “Just out of curiosity… What are those girls capable of?”

“I believe you have seen it for yourself… They have one who is a mage that we believe is at least a White Tier in Pyromancy… And their healer is also in the same tier as well. Then there’s the swordswoman with immense strength and the rogue with blinding speed. Though I would say that they were not as aggressive as usual today which was odd. Normally they wouldn’t even back down and would even go a little bit crazy in attacking anyone that they have identified as an enemy…”

Sounds like what someone like them would do…

“What about the others who weren’t here?”

“Unfortunately… I’m not too sure of them myself… Those four are the ones who usually show up while the others would only appear when they have someone they want to beat up… Speaking of which… I really suggest that you get out of here before they find you…”

“Wouldn’t you guys be in trouble then?” I pointed out.

“It is nothing we have not handled before. Even though they might hurl insults and abuse at us, they won’t actually hurt us since they know we are the ones giving out the Requests.”

“Can’t you guys just threaten them with expulsion from the Guild or something?”

“While they certainly are a… Problematic group… Our Guildmaster has decided that their strength was worth keeping them around for and so we have to put up with their abuse just to make sure they don’t leave…”

I rolled my eyes, “He sees them as some kind of investment, is that it?”

The guy could only nod his head.

Well… These guys have it tough too… At least the others could just leave whenever they want to but the staff here have to stay and deal with them since they are working in this branch specifically.

“We don’t plan to stay for long anyway,” I admitted before beckoning Ather over. “We’re just stopping by to report the success of this mission and to register her as a party member.”

“Ah, of course, I just need your Guild cards.”

I handed the staff mine and surprisingly, Ather also had one.

I thought for sure she had not registered as a Guild member yet since I was expecting her to be fully focused on her art with no time for anything else.

My thoughts must have shown on my face because Ather answered my unasked question, “I may have lowered needs but I still need to eat from time to time. And sleeping on a bed is still more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. This is just an easy way for me to earn money here.”

I guess that makes sense.

She’s already heading out to paint anyway and she’s proven that she could handle herself in a fight, so in the event she comes across monsters or the like, she could just kill them for money.

The Guild staff handed the cards back to us, “It is done. Miss Ather is now officially part of your party, Miss Aster. Is there anything else you need from us today?”

I was just about to tell him no when the door was shoved open with a loud bang.

Everyone in the room immediately quietened down and turned to look in the direction of the Guild entrance.

There, occupying the entire doorway that was big enough for Odeta to walk through without needing her to duck her head, was a tall and roided up woman that had arms as big as a normal Mahun.

Her size was enough to block off the entire doorway and I would have thought she was a Magridar if it wasn’t for the fact that I have seen a real Magridar’s size before.

The woman ducked her head and stepped through the doorway, right before the hinges on the door snapped and the entire door crashed onto the floor with a loud thud.

The muscular woman didn’t even look in its direction as she surveyed the room in front of her.

All hopes that I had for this woman to be unrelated to the earlier group wilted when I saw everyone else in the room quickly ducking their heads and looking down at the ground to avert their gaze.

There were a few of them who had been in the middle of having sex and they didn’t pull out and just lowered their gaze while trying to stay as still as possible.

First of all… Are you guys serious? They literally only went out the door for less than ten minutes and there’s a few of you who have already stripped naked just to start fucking right there and then…

You know what? I’m not even going to question it.

The woman at the door sniffed the air like she was some kind of bloodhound before she growled, “I heard there’s some people here who thought they could boss us around? Show yourself.”

Great… Seems like their backup came faster than expected… Although this is just one person though and I don’t see the original four behind her either.

No one even had time to answer her as her gaze immediately locked on to my group which in hindsight, I guess was quite obvious who the perpetrators were since we were the only ones who were looking at her directly instead of at the ground like everyone else.

She started stomping her way towards me and the building shook with each step she took.

When she stopped in front of me, I realised she was probably around Mother’s height and I had to tilt my head up to look at her face.

“You… You’re not from around here, are you?”

I decided to be honest, “No, we only just reached the city today.”

“In that case, you have to abide by the rules of this Guild, here.”

She reached into her pouch by her waist and pulled out a pamphlet that she handed it over to me.

I almost thought she was the Guildmaster of the Guild with her words until I saw what was written on the pamphlet.
