Lin Fan wished that this was something that he was imagining, but he became more and more certain the more that he saw of this place.
After the disinfecting spray, the wall swung open and revealed the inside of the research facility.
Or it would have if it wasn’t for the fact that there was something else behind this wall.
It was another chamber that was similar to this one.
It seemed to be a second disinfecting chamber.
The deers didn’t seem surprised at all by this second disinfection room. In fact, it seemed like they were very used to this with the way that they moved in without hesitation.
Lin Fan released his spiritual sense again to make sure that it was disinfection spray still.
After making sure, he looked at Sirius and sent a message with his spiritual sense, “It’s fine. Whoever made this place seems to be a germaphobe and is taking extra precautions against germs. This is nothing more than a spray that kills any dangerous things.”
The wary and hostile look disappeared from Sirius’ face and instead he looked at Lin Fan with a shocked look.
It seemed like he was trying to tell Lin Fan something, but it wasn’t as if Lin Fan could actually hear what he was saying.
It was one thing to tell him something with spiritual sense, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan could actually read minds. That was beyond the scope of what Lin Fan was capable of and unless Sirius could use spiritual sense as well, whatever he was trying was useless.
So Lin Fan sent another message with his spiritual sense, “I can’t hear what you’re saying, I can only send messages that only you can hear. Just be quiet and wait for my signal.”
Sirius calmed down a bit when he heard this, but he still looked at Lin Fan as if he didn’t completely believe him.
It still looked like he was trying to use his mind to talk to him.
Lin Fan just chose to ignore this as he focused on the deers that were in front of him.
It turned out that the person that was in charge of this research facility was even more of a germaphobe than Lin Fan expected.
In the end, there were three different disinfection rooms that had to be passed before they actually entered the main research facility.
Through his spiritual sense, Lin Fan could tell that each of these chemicals that were pumped in was for a different kind of disinfection.
Then at the very end, there was even this dust shower that was used to clean off anything that might have stuck through the disinfection.
This wasn’t the level of a normal disinfection, this was serious prevention against anything that was possible.
It took someone that was seriously afraid of germs to prepare something like this.
In the end, even Lin Fan who knew what all this was for couldn’t help feeling that it was overboard.
It wasn’t as if there was a need for them to act this way when there was no one that even knew that you were here. It seemed like doing all this would actually make it easier to find them rather than harder.
After all, there was a need for materials to create all of these things.
It wasn’t as if the materials for these things would just come out of thin air, they had to procure it from somewhere. This was the kind of thing that would leave a trail that would make it easy to track them.
That was unless they had some kind of big backer behind them.
“Is it the Kalos Empire?” Lin Fan couldn’t help thinking this.
It seemed like the Kalos Empire was the only explanation for how a large scale base like this could be built here.
Once they were past the disinfection point, Lin Fan saw more of the base.
The moment that he saw the base, he already felt that he was familiar with it.
That was because this was just like the other bases that he had raided in the Mu Empire back on the cultivation continent.
While they weren’t exactly the same, the general layout of these bases were the same since they were most likely designed by the same person. They had the same function which was why they had been designed like this in the first place.
All of them had the main intake hall and then different corridors that would lead to different places.
Once they were in this research base, there was no need to continue following the deers since Lin Fan could guess the general layout of the base according to his previous experience with these bases.
But for now, he wanted to see what these deers were for.
There was a reason why these deers had been sent out and that was why they were reporting back.
At the same time, he was curious just how intelligent the deers were.
He had an idea, but if they really were as intelligent as he thought they were…
It was a while before someone finally appeared.
Instead of wearing a lab coat like the researchers on the cultivation continent, they were wearing a full contamination suit that hid everything about them. There was only this small window where their face was that allowed them to peek through.
It was unknown if they were wearing this because it was their choice, they were forced to as part of their uniform, or if it was enforced by the person in charge of this place. After all, this kind of uniform definitely wasn’t light and it wasn’t easy to wear.
So unless they had no choice, most people would avoid wearing something like this.
After this person came forward, he didn’t do anything to the deers since they had already been disinfected. He didn’t even lead the deers to any place special and instead took out a board from the side.
Looking closely, one could see that this was a board that contained a diagram of the alphabet.
Once this was taken out, the deers were equipped with a special laser pointer that was attached to their heads and allowed them to point at the board.
With this, they were able to communicate with the person in the contamination suit.
But from this, Lin Fan and Sirius were also able to see what was being reported.
The first thing that this confirmed was that the deers were intelligent enough that they were able to make reports like this. This confirmed the suspicion that Lin Fan had based on what he saw earlier.
The second thing that this confirmed was that the deers had been sent out for something.
After all, the report said that they had been on patrol when they encountered the two of them and a skirmish occurred.
The most surprising thing was that the deers even had some kind of understanding of tactics as they made simple suggestions on what could be improved to deal with intruders like this in the future.
It was clear that these were anything but normal deers.
But Lin Fan was more shocked than Sirius since he knew something that Sirius didn’t. With his spiritual sense, he was able to figure out more about the deers than Sirius could.
He would have used his Appraisal Eyes, but they didn’t work on these deers.
That was because all he saw was that these were normal deers that had been biologically modified. That was the only information that the Appraisal Eyes gave him, it didn’t actually give him any information on how they had been modified.
So he had to find this out himself.
It was a good thing that he had the experience from the labs on the cultivation continent.
This gave him the knowledge that he needed to check the deers properly and find what was different about them.
Once the deers finished their report, the researcher started to lead them deeper into the research facility.
During this time, Sirius pulled on Lin Fan’s sleeve as if he was asking him if they should leave. However, Lin Fan did the exact opposite of what Sirius wanted as he followed the researcher and the deers deeper into the research facility.
Since Sirius was depending on Lin Fan’s illusion spell to keep himself hidden, he had no choice but to follow him after them.
In no time at all, they arrived at one of the rooms.
This was a room that was filled with different glass vats.
The moment that Sirius saw this, there was a shocked look that appeared on his face. After all, he could see that there were creatures that were being held inside of these glass vats and he could see that none of these creatures were normal.
On the other hand, there was a bitter smile that appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he saw them.
Though he had already been expecting to see this, it was still surprising to see them.
He definitely didn’t think that there would be a research facility like this on the magic continent.
Just what was Tucker and the organization that he had built up?
How were they able to spread themselves so far that they could even come to the magic continent and find a backer like the Kalos Empire?
And the most confusing thing about all of this was how he had been able to take down those labs back in the Mu Empire.
If they were an organization of this scale, they should have been more than capable of stopping him…
