When Lin Fan finished hunting the monsters, he packed up everything and headed off.
He didn’t waste a single second since the place that he had been hunting in was quite far from the border.
He had to bring all of these materials to the border to sneak into the Kalos Empire since these materials would be auctioned off in the Kalos Empire.
As such, he was on his way to smuggle these items in.
As for why they were choosing to smuggle these materials in, it was because of the advantage that came from smuggling them in.
If they were to bring them in through a legitimate path, then it would leave a trail that might possibly lead right back to them. Since they were planning to use these materials to take down the Kalos Empire with this, then it was best to make sure that they couldn’t be tracked.
If they were tracked and people started putting two and two together, there was no doubt that it would be a detriment to their plan.
As such, Lin Fan wasn’t heading to the same gate that he headed to before when he entered the Kalos Empire the first time.
Instead, he went to a place that was in the middle of nowhere.
There wasn’t a single trace of civilization in this place, but this was still the border between the Laver Empire and the Kalos Empire.
It wasn’t as if every part of the border would be guarded as heavily as the parts where there were gates. But at the same time, it wasn’t as if the borders would be left completely unguarded.
So even if there wasn’t a single trace of civilization in this place, Lin Fan just couldn’t cross the border without being caught. The moment that he crossed into the Kalos Empire from this place, there was no doubt that he would be found and surrounded.
As such, Lin Fan had to find a different way to enter the Kalos Empire.
But it wasn’t as if he had come to this place because he wanted to test his luck.
There was a reason why Lin Fan had specifically come to this place out of all the parts of the border that he could have gone to.
“Is it really here?” Lin Fan said to himself as he searched around the area for the thing that he had been told to look for.
It was just that it was too well hidden for him to find it on his own…
So in the end, Lin Fan pulled out the special thing that Haku had given him.
The reason why he didn’t want to use this thing in the first place was because he didn’t trust Haku. After all, there was no reason for her to give him something like this even though this was all part of the plan.
For her to give him something like this, it was clear that there was an ulterior motive.
So unless Lin Fan absolutely had to do it, he didn’t want to use this thing…
But it was a fact that he couldn’t find what he was supposed to find and he would just be wasting time if he were to wait any longer. So in that case, Lin Fan used the bell that Haku gave him.
The moment that he rang the bell, there was a sound that came from under him.
It was a passage that suddenly opened in the ground.
It turned out that he was right in front of it, but he hadn’t been able to find the trigger that opened up the passage. That was why he hadn’t been able to find this passage in the end.
However, Lin Fan didn’t head down right away.
Instead, he adopted a wary stance as he looked at the passage.
This passage was one of the secret smuggling routes that the Laver Empire controlled.
Since the Laver Empire and the Kalos Empire were enemies even though they had a truce right now, it was only natural that there were passages like this that existed.
It wasn’t just the Laver Empire that had a passage like this, there was no doubt that the Kalos Empire would have one too.
But this one was for the Laver Empire.
Since this was a smuggling route that was used by the Laver Empire, it meant that this was something related to the dungeon. This passage was created with Haku’s dungeon and was controlled by her, which meant that it was absolutely safe for the Laver Empire.
Though whether it was safe or not for Lin Fan…
From what he could see, Lin Fan could tell that this passage didn’t seem dangerous.
It was just that even though it didn’t seem dangerous, there was no telling what was hiding under the surface. Even if it didn’t seem dangerous, it could be filled with all kinds of traps waiting for him.
He knew that Haku wouldn’t actually do anything that would cause fatal injuries to him, but Lin Fan knew that Haku wouldn’t hold back when it came to making things hard for him.
So even if he didn’t become fatally injured because of the traps in this passage, he would surely suffer because of Haku’s tricks.
That was why Lin Fan didn’t want to take this passage after using the bell.
Taking a deep breath, he still entered the passage.
After all, this was his only way of sneaking into the Kalos Empire without being seen, so he had to do this even if there was the chance that Haku had done something. He had to bring these materials in and arrange them to be auctioned so that they could rile up the six factions.
It didn’t seem like anything was going to happen when he stepped into the passage, but that soon changed as the passage closed right behind him and threw him into darkness. Though as a cultivator, this really wasn’t a problem for him as he could see in the dark.
Then after taking a few steps, there was a…
“Click.”
As soon as this click rang out and the pressure plate under him sank, there were arrows that came from all around him. These arrows came out of holes in the wall and were aimed right at Lin Fan from all directions.
Lin Fan gave a sigh when he saw this, but he didn’t panic as he waved his hand and created a barrier of water around himself.
This barrier of water easily shattered all of the arrows that came at him.
There wasn’t a single arrow that was even able to come close to him with this barrier of water up.
It was just that it didn’t seem like the wave of arrows would actually stop with how they continued firing at him. It really seemed like there was no lack of arrows with how they fired continuously.
In the end, it still ran out and the arrows stopped.
Lin Fan didn’t let his guard down as he kept the barrier of water up around him.
This was a good choice as there was another clicking sound.
In no time at all, the entire passage filled with flames.
These were flames that came from gaps that appeared in the walls around him. With these flames pouring out, it turned this entire place into a sea of flames.
It was just that all of the flames were extinguished by the water barrier around Lin Fan.
No matter how the flames kept pouring out, there wasn’t a single thing that it could do against Lin Fan’s water barrier. It was as if the flames were not flames with how easily they were extinguished against this water barrier.
In the end, there were several more traps that were triggered, but all of them were blocked by Lin Fan’s water barrier.
After all, this wasn’t just a normal water barrier.
This water barrier was a barrier that was made of Clear Water.
It could be considered a dense water barrier since it was made with dense water elemental energy.
After a while, Lin Fan couldn’t help asking, “Are you done yet? I don’t think that it’s that interesting to keep this up, right?”
There was a silence that followed before several figures appeared.
These were figures that came out of the walls themselves because these were moles. Or rather they had the head of moles, but they had figures that were like humans.
If they had to be classified, they would be mole beastmen.
“Un, that should be more than enough harassing for what we were ordered.” One of them who seemed to be the leader based on the goggles that he was wearing said this.
A bitter smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he heard this, but he forced himself to keep a calm look on his face.
In the end, he learned that these molemen were the ones that had been assigned to watch over this smuggling passage and that Haku had sent a letter to them to harass the one that used the bell.
As expected, she really did plan something like this when she gave him the bell.
But he was surprised to hear that she had only ordered low level stuff like these traps.
All of the traps that Lin Fan encountered were traps for normal people. For anyone that had a bit of strength, these traps were easy to block.
So it seemed that she had mellowed out to a certain extent when it came to her hatred for him.
But she still hated him enough to set up this trap for him.
That thought brought another bitter smile to his face.
