Chapter 1117: The Cavalry Has Arrived [Part 3]

“Damn you!” The Progenitor finally realized what was happening and knew that there was no point in attempting to escape because his time was being rewound every time he managed to get away.

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Dantalion summoned a feathered sword and slashed into the location where the Progenitor hovered earlier.

As if waiting for that moment, Aion once again used his time loop, delivering the fleeing Progenitor to Dantalion on a silver platter.

In just the span of a second, the Progenitor’s head was cut off from his body.

However, the Progenitor still hadn’t died.

The head tried to run away, but Ethan was already prepared for such a scenario.

Dainsleif used his power of gravity and slowed down the fleeting head, allowing Ethan to easily stab it with his spear.

A scream filled with horror and resentment spread on the battlefield as Ethan claimed his second Progenitor in this counterattack.

The young man’s body glowed faintly as he absorbed the power that belonged to the enemy that he had just killed.

His movement speed doubled, causing the Progenitors from the same faction as the three that had died to look at him with bloodshot eyes.

“Retreat!” the Leader of the Progenitors shouted.

This time, he didn’t hesitate to open a portal that would take him and his comrades back to their home world.

They no longer wished to be part of the one-sided slaughter, which only benefitted the perfect vessel, who devoured their fellow Progenitors’ powers, making the young man more dangerous the longer the battle progressed.

With each passing minute, the enemies were losing their morale as they were pushed back by the Defenders of Midgard.

Two hours later, the enemy had decided that it wasn’t worth it to continue the battle, especially since the other Progenitors of Midgard helped Ethan kill four more Progenitors, drastically strengthening the young man’s powers.

Right now, none of the Progenitors from the other side were his match, so they no longer wished to stay and fight a losing battle.

Vincent laughed in disdain the moment the enemies all decided to flee.

Using his powers as a Conqueror, he reclaimed the territories that originally belonged to their faction.

This reclamation process took three days, for the territories of Midgard were vast.

Vincent and Ethan, who both had the power of Conquerors, took over the authority of the lands their enemies had abandoned in fear of their retaliation.

Because of this incident, the number of territories under the Defenders of Midgard increased by a fifth of the size of their original territory, allowing them to conquer new lands that belonged to their neighbors.

“Let’s stop here,” Ethan said to his Uncle, who also agreed that a rapid expansion would be detrimental to them.

“It feels so good to kick those bastards back to where they came from.” Vincent laughed. “You did well, Ethan.”

“You too, Uncle,” said Ethan with a smile after transferring the authority of the Lands he had taken over in the lands of Saraqael to his uncle. “But we will only stop for today to let the others rest.”

“You mean to say… you will continue to advance?” Vincent asked in surprise.

“Yes, but the goal is to not only gain territories. It’s more about becoming a pain in the butt for them,” Ethan replied. “I’ll bring my team to harass the enemies and make them understand the consequences of attacking our world.”

“Hahaha! I like the sound of that.” Vincent nodded. “By the way, Ethan. I have two daughters, which means they are your cousins. I’d love for you to meet them soon.”

“I’d love to meet them too, Uncle,” Ethan said. “After all, they are family.”

“Yes.” Vincent smirked. “Good things must belong to the family.”

“Uncle, I’m not following you.”

“Hahaha! It’s fine. Now, go to your father and mother before they say I’m hogging you all to myself.”

Ethan bid his uncle goodbye and flew to his mother, who had been watching them from a distance.

“Did your uncle say anything stupid?” Lady Catherine asked her son, who had been fighting non-stop for the past few days.

“No, Mother,” Ethan answered. “Uncle just said he wanted to introduce me to my two cousins.”

Lady Catherine and Lleu glanced at each other before shaking their heads helplessly.

Seeing their reactions, Ethan felt like something was up. But since his parents weren’t saying anything, they simply gave Ethan the “son, be careful of honey trap” gaze, which the young man failed to pick up.

The young man then told his father his plans to harass the adjacent territories owned by the ones who had come to attack them.

This earned him the approval of Lleu, who had always wanted to hit their enemies where it hurt the most.

The only reason why they hadn’t expanded was the lack of manpower.

Even if they were able to get vast swaths of territories, with no manpower to defend them, taking them was futile.

With this mindset, whenever the Defenders of Midgard managed to take land they originally didn’t possess, all of them knew they would not be able to hold it for long because they would all be busy rebuilding the fortresses destroyed by their enemies.

“Mom, stay with Lily until she gives birth,” Ethan said.

“I will.” Lady Catherine nodded without hesitation.

Although she did her best to protect her daughter-in-law, she was simply no match against the Progenitors of the Plague Faction.

This weighed heavily on her conscience, so when she heard that Ethan was able to successfully rescue Lily from her kidnappers, Lady Catherine was relieved.

“We would have lost if you and your comrades didn’t arrive in time,” Lleu said. “I’m glad Midgard has new powerhouses now. We look forward to you carrying the banner in the future.”

“Yes, Father.” Ethan smiled. “There will come a time when you and Grandfather can finally retire to take care of your grandchildren.”

“That sounds like a wonderful retirement plan.” Lleu smiled faintly. “I wish that day would come sooner. But you don’t have to hurry. Your mother and I can hold the fort while you raise your children.

“We will find more happiness knowing you and Joanne have started your own families, which will make all our hard work worth it.”

“He’s right, you know?” Lady Catherine commented. “But still, I don’t know what to think about you having ten wives. I’m not complaining. I’m just honestly surprised.”

“What’s there to complain about?” Lleu hugged his wife. “With this, our family’s lineage is secured. Even if Joanne doesn’t marry in the future, we will have plenty of grandchildren to spoil in the future.”

Ethan chuckled because he could already imagine his parents’ smiling faces as they hugged their grandchildren, who might number more than a dozen.

Fortunately, Ethan had the ability to support such a big family without problems.

Their family was wealthy enough in Midgard, and they also had various businesses both big and small.

Perhaps, the only problem he would face in the future would be satisfying his wives in their nighttime activities .

But, this would be a story for another time.
