Chapter 1321: God
That longer statement exhausted the alien of his last forces. The almost-extinguished black smoke on his figure vanished completely, and his body finally fell prey to its broken condition, losing its last vestiges of structural integrity.
The smaller alien’s figure crumbled on itself, releasing no gore or blood. Khan had turned him into a mess of cracks, which rained down in the form of shards before turning into dust.
Khan reached for that black dust dispersing into the environment, savoring its effects for the last time. A minute trace of the smoke’s obliterating properties still lingered on that vanishing powder, and Khan felt its weak presence attempting to affect his mana.
However, Khan’s mana easily resisted that presence. Part of that was due to how faint the obliterating force was in its current form, but Khan’s recent enlightenment also played a significant role.
That should have reassured Khan. After all, the obliterating presence was one of the most threatening known aspects of that new enemy, and wielding a power that could resist it would greatly help in the future war.
Nevertheless, the shorter alien’s last words had hinted at something deeply concerning.
Khan’s brain had translated the alien’s sounds on its own, relying on what it instinctively felt were close meanings. That left room for misunderstandings, but Khan wouldn’t bet on them and already considered the worst-case scenario.
If the shorter alien’s words were to be believed, those two opponents had merely been a lower class of warriors. Theoretically, scouts had to be able to hold their own against pretty much everything, but proper Kings had to be stronger than them, let alone an even higher being.
’A God,’ Khan thought, lifting his gaze to inspect the still-thundering clouds high in the sky. ’The God of True Chaos that will swallow my Chaos.’
Khan had claimed to be a god in the past to unite the Scalqa. He could also change an entire quadrant’s weather now, turning a complete absence of winds into raging, destructive storms.
That wasn’t even the limit of Khan’s chaos anymore. He had to end the battle quickly, so he had relied on the aspects he was most familiar with, but his element could do much more now.
Liiza’s revelations had brought enlightenment that Khan had yet to test fully. Actually, he probably had no way of knowing his full potential now.
Khan wasn’t a slave to his desperation anymore. The part of his life that had nothing to do with his curse had joined his existence, making his element’s application virtually endless.
Of course, Khan’s chaos remained different from the mana’s chaos. His element was unique to himself since he was in the evolved realm. Yet, his existence had expanded now, and he felt that change at a fundamental level.
Khan felt strangely free, unbound from something he hadn’t even been aware was weighing down on him. He had only noticed that pressure after it was gone, making room for a casual lightness.
Somehow, Khan believed he would be able to do anything he put his mind to. He couldn’t feel the previous raging limitations anymore, and looking at his open palm seemed to confirm that point.
Khan released a basic version of his mana, only for a simple gust of purple-red energy to escape his palm. The bright trail featured no sparks or thundering noises. They would still come if Khan called them, but his power wasn’t limited to them anymore.
It almost seemed Khan had regressed to his state right after the mana anomaly, but he knew the truth. He didn’t grow any weaker. He had become vaster, and his mind struggled to keep up with the many now-seemingly feasible ideas that popped into it.
Nevertheless, that revolutionary change couldn’t make Khan stand still.
Khan vanished from the crater, only to reappear at the edge of the still-raging storm. He didn’t need to stop there, but his worries made him look at that catastrophe of his own creation, almost trying to calculate something.
A faint connection between the sea of raging clouds and Khan still existed, but that was mostly due to the shared element. He had released any control over the spell right after killing the shorter alien, but the storm didn’t disappear.
Khan had marked the quadrant’s symphony deeply. His influence had spread far and wide, creating enduring effects that had an unclear expiration date.
Of course, Khan could quell the storm with a single thought, but didn’t. His mind briefly wandered in the majestic sights of pillar-like lightning bolts connecting heaven and earth. His existence had been able to leave a lasting mark on an actual planet, but that probably wouldn’t be enough.
’The Great Old One could do more,’ Khan considered. ’Is a God even stronger?’
Khan disappeared from that position with that light, free, but heavy mind. He had to think about his element, his conclusions, and the shorter alien’s revelations properly, but something else had priority now.
It took Khan less than a minute to return to the crashed ship. The storm still raged in the distance, but the awake figure behind the fried vessel paid it no heed.
Zalpa was on the grey ground, sweating to no end while keeping both hands on Liiza’s partially frozen figure. Her mana had created a white membrane around the sleeping, curled beauty, but the process was taking its toll on her.
"[Is that the Harmony Technique]?" Khan asked, gracefully landing in front of the two women before kneeling toward the frozen Liiza.
"[I need to heal the damage]," Zalpa grunted, pushing herself beyond her limits to keep the healing technique up. "[The hibernation won’t end otherwise, and I can’t feed Lii until then]."
Khan’s glowing eyes darted between the two women before stopping at Liiza. He vaguely understood the issue, so his attention went to the white membrane, studying it to the full extent of his perception.
Usually, the [Harmony Technique] would rely on both the caster’s and receiver’s energy to heal the latter. However, Liiza couldn’t do much in her condition, and her hibernation seemed to prioritize the baby, sending all her available energy to her belly.
Therefore, Zalpa was forced to fill both the caster’s and receiver’s quotas, which obviously exhausted her. After all, she was only in the fourth level, while Liiza was closer to Khan than ordinary fifth-level warriors.
Zalpa didn’t let that hurdle dishearten her. Realistically, she only needed to wake Liiza enough for her to help, and her whole focus was on the procedure. Zalpa looked ready to dry herself up, so her unwavering concentration made her spot Khan’s hand only when it landed on hers.
A purple-red trail of mana escaped the back of Khan’s hand, shining on Zalpa’s face before she had the chance to question him. Still, that energy quickly transformed, growing paler and colder.
In a few seconds, Zalpa ended up before a near-perfect replica of Liiza’s energy. It wasn’t precisely the same. It couldn’t summon her ice, techniques, or mutation-related abilities, but could work as a fuel for the [Harmony Technique].
"[If it’s Liiza]," Khan commented, pulling back that white mana to push it inside Zalpa’s hand, "[I can at least do this much]."
