Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 623 - 623: Hades' Inner Emotions

It felt as if the Creator God was making them judge themselves, since he wanted to make them go into deeper despair.

He wanted them to know how close they had been to salvation and how the hope and grace had been in their hands, but it had slipped through their fingers.

We should’ve chosen a light punishment. We should’ve thought more carefully.

In their eyes, the Creator God had no need to Judge them in such a convoluted way. He could’ve just Judged them himself.

Still, he mocked them by showing them their life. He must’ve found it funny how they punished a criminal and sent him to hell, only to find the criminal was themselves.

Disgusting

There were many who thought like that.

They resented Neo, and the negative karma from their resentment piled up.

“Why are you always taking everything on yourself? You could’ve chosen a normal END, and the negative karma you would’ve received would have been far less.”

Hades felt powerless.

He was disgusted at himself. Seeing that his child had chosen such a hard path, yet he could not ease his suffering made him hate himself.

He was never there to praise Neo. He was never there to protect him.

All he did was treat him as a failed weapon, and threw him away.

By the time Hades realized his mistake, and he wanted to do better, he had been too late.

The choices he made could no longer be changed.

“Dammit!”

He smashed his wrist into the wall.

What was the point of being one of the strongest Gods?

Let alone protect his family, he couldn’t even make them smile.

He couldn’t be their shield.

He couldn’t be their roof.

His wife and his children were suffering endlessly because of the choices he had made.

“Dammit! Dammit!”

Despite having lived for nine eons, Hades had not been able to change anything.

His strength protected anything.

“Dad.”

Nameless Death tried to console Hades instinctively. But his hand phased through him, his voice never reached his ears.

All he could do was see his own father break down, cursing his own powerlessness.

Just then, the sounds of armor clinking echoed.

Hades raised his head and saw a headless body moving towards him. The headless body was wearing an armor, and it held a sword.

Hades quickly composed himself.

He couldn’t show an ugly appearance to anyone.

Then, he observed the headless warrior.

“A Dullahan, but not a normal one. Are you the protector of this place—”

Before he could complete his words, the Dullahan smashed his sword next to Hades. The floor cracked due to his sheer strength.

Hades was surprised. The Dullahan had a sense of self. More importantly, he was angry at Hades.

“Are you acting like this because I’m a trespasser?” Hades sighed. “This place should be attuned to my presence since…”

Hades stopped speaking.

He could feel the bloodlust of the Dullahan increasing.

It made him look at the Dullahan closely, and that was when he recognized Dullahan.

“Dios?” Hades blinked. “Where is your head?”

Nameless Death could swear that if Dullahan had his head, the corner of his lips would’ve been twitching.

Dullahan put his sword back into the sheath after Hades recognized him. Then, he beckoned Hades to follow him.

Hades understood his gesture and followed behind.

Dullahan went through several passages. Before Hades, and Nameless Death knew, they were inside an office.

He motioned Hades to sit, and began to prepare coffee.

“I like tea more,” Hades said, joking despite how he was feeling.

Dullahan stopped and turned to him, as if asking why he was being so brazen. After a while, he gave a thumbs up to show he had understood Hades’ message.

Nevertheless, the Dullahan still made a coffee.

Hades’ eyebrow twitched. Even after so many years, he and Dios knew how to get under each other’s skin.

Finally, Dullahan served the coffee, and sat on the other side of the table. He crossed his arms.

“So why did you bring me here?” Hades asked.

Dullahan remained silent and motionless.

Knowing what that meant, Hades clicked his tongue, “You want to know about me and my wife?”

There was still no answer. It was an acknowledgement to continue.

“Heh, I bet you couldn’t sleep for weeks after I told you during my dying breaths that we would meet again.”

That got a reaction from Dullahan.

He seemed to be ready to punch Hades’ face, but could only stop himself. Hades grinned knowing it would irritate Dullahan more.

Seeing the smirk, Dullahan pulled out his sword. This place had strengthened him, since he was its guardian, and he was prepared to strike down Hades.

“All right, all right. Sit down,” Hades chuckled. “I know you have a lot of questions. I will answer them now.”

Hades’ smile disappeared, and an incomparably serious expression appeared on his face.

His demeanor changed, making him seem cold and aloof.

Dullahan sat back and crossed his arms.

“Don’t worry. I don’t plan to hide anything anymore. Since this is another Cosmos, I can speak freely here.”

Just when he was about to continue, Nameless Death felt a pull. His body was yanked backwards.

An immense vertigo hit his head.

When his mind became calm again, he was surrounded by white flames.

“This… Did I come back to the Sea of All Consc—”

“Yes, you are back,” the Witch of Greed answered, cutting him off.

“Why did you pull him back now? There was something I want to hear.”

“The time was up. I already let you in that place to the limit of my abilities.”

Nameless Death gritted his teeth.

He felt like he had missed incredibly important information.

An idea came to his head. Wouldn’t he be able to hear what his father had to say if he could re-enter the Cosmos?

“Hey,” he turned to the Witch of Greed. “Send me back to that place again.”

“No.”

“Just do it once—”

“I have no reason to help you,” the Witch of Greed said, cutting him off mid-sentence.

Those words snapped Nameless Death out of his confused mind. He took a deep breath. Right, there was no way the Witch of Greed would help him.

He needed to find an answer himself.

“Now that you have received the payment, it is time I tell you why the Supreme of Void is protecting the Sites,” she said. “Follow me.”
