Chapter 1119: 1118 let me think about it

After Mo Xiuchen left, Wen Ran drank some brown sugar water and then breastfed Ziyi.

Bai Yiyi and Bai Xiaoxiao stayed with her in the hospital room the whole time. “Ranran, did you see that woman?”

“I did. It was Tong Shishi.”

A hint of hatred flitted across Wen Ran’s eyes.

Had she not seen Tong Shishi today, she would have almost forgotten about her.

“Who is Tong Shishi?”

Bai Yiyi asked, puzzled.

Bai Xiaoxiao snorted coldly, explaining, “Tong Shishi is the woman who seduced Mo Xiuchen’s driver Little Liu back then. Later, she also had a scandal with Mo Zixuan. She originally wanted to marry Little Liu, didn’t she? Was it you and Mo Xiuchen who exposed her, and she’s held a grudge ever since?”

“She had colluded with Cheng Jia before. After Cheng Jia disappeared, there hadn’t been any news about Tong Shishi. It’s unexpected that she not only kept in touch with Cheng Jia but the two of them together took Momo away.”

Talking about Tong Shishi and Cheng Jia made Wen Ran’s teeth itch with hatred.

“Ranran, Tong Shishi wouldn’t confess where Cheng Jia is?”

Bai Xiaoxiao said angrily, “I should have gone with you to the police station just now and taught that cheap Tong Shishi a good lesson.”

“I hit her.”

But hitting her couldn’t bring Momo back.

It seemed like Cheng Jia had become addicted to sending deliveries.

In the afternoon, she sent another delivery to Wen Ran.

This time, the parcel Cheng Jia sent did not reach Wen Ran’s hands. After the security guard handed it to Qing Feng, Qing Feng immediately called Mo Xiuchen.

Mo Xiuchen’s phone rang when Wen Ran was in the restroom, and he was waiting for her outside.

Seeing Qing Feng’s call, a profound look flashed in his eyes, and he pressed the hang-up button.

Wen Ran came out of the restroom and asked with confusion, “Someone just called you, why didn’t you answer?”

“It was from the company. Ranran, I need to go back to the office for a bit.”

Mo Xiuchen smiled slightly, reached out to support Wen Ran’s arm, and guided her to the bed, again softly instructing, “Be careful.”

“Mo Xiuchen, go ahead.”

After Wen Ran lay down on the bed, she urged Mo Xiuchen to leave.

Mo Xiuchen bent down and kissed her forehead. Wen Ran’s expression stiffened for a moment. He was about to leave when his phone rang again.

It was Lu Zhiyan calling. In front of Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen pressed the answer button, “Hello?”

“Tong Shishi is dead.”

Lu Zhiyan’s voice came through the phone, tinged with a cold detachment.

Mo Xiuchen paused slightly and asked coldly, “How did she die?”

“Unable to endure the pain of drug withdrawal, she killed herself by crashing.” Lu Zhiyan paused for a moment before adding, “She likely really didn’t know where Cheng Jia was, nor did she know where Momo had been taken.”

“I see.”

A gloom settled in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes; after finishing the conversation, he hung up.

“Ranran, Lu Zhiyan said over the phone that Tong Shishi crashed herself to death.”

Wen Ran simply responded with an “Oh,” without saying anything more.

Mo Xiuchen lowered his gaze to look at Ziyi sleeping soundly in the baby cot. “I’ll have Bai Xiaoxiao and Bai Yiyi come to keep you company.”

“Mhm.”

Mo Xiuchen left the hospital room, closed the door behind him, and glanced at the delivery in Qing Feng’s hand. His expression changed, he took the parcel, and while dialing a number on his phone, he strode briskly toward the elevator.

Holding the parcel, Mo Xiuchen went to Gu Kai’s office to find him.

“What’s this?”

Gu Kai opened the door and saw the package in Mo Xiuchen’s hands, his expression immediately shifted, a vigilant glint flashed through his eyes.

Mo Xiuchen hadn’t opened the package yet, but his face was already as grim as the deep water.

He didn’t answer Gu Kai’s question, but went straight into the office, sat down in front of the sofa, tore open the package, and said,

“It’s from Cheng Jia.”

“What did she send this time?”

As soon as Gu Kai saw the package, his first thought was also Cheng Jia.

Hearing what Mo Xiuchen said, his face suddenly changed color.

When Mo Xiuchen opened the package and saw what was in the sealed bag, his handsome face turned pale, and a bloodthirsty cold glint burst forth from his pitch-black eyes.

“Mo Xiuchen,” Gu Kai’s voice was very soft.

He looked shocked at the bag in his hands; inside the transparent bag was a tiny finger.

Mo Xiuchen’s tall frame froze, he remained silent, staring intently at the bag.

For a long time, his brain was blank; he didn’t even hear Gu Kai calling him, just staring fixedly at the bag.

Seeing that Mo Xiuchen had no reaction, Gu Kai pursed his lips, took over the express box, and pulled out a letter.

“This is written to Ranran.”

Gu Kai said softly and, seeing that Mo Xiuchen still had no reaction, he unfolded the letter and read the content, “Wen Ran, if you hesitate any longer, wait to collect your daughter’s body tomorrow.”

It was just a sentence, but it sent chills down one’s spine.

Gu Kai took a deep breath, his tall figure rose from the sofa, “Cheng Jia, that bitch.”

“Ah Kai.”

Mo Xiuchen looked up, his gaze met Gu Kai’s, deep and unreadable.

“Are you not going to let Ranran know?”

Gu Kai looked into Mo Xiuchen’s eyes as deep as the sea, and asked harshly.

If Ranran knew, she would surely be unable to handle it.

“Let me think about it.” After saying this, Mo Xiuchen fell into deep thought, figuring out how to handle it—Cheng Jia, that deranged woman, had actually harmed his daughter.

At this moment, he almost regretted not listening to Ranran yesterday.

Gu Kai snatched the bag from his hand, saying, “Maybe it’s not Momo’s, don’t panic yet, and don’t tell Ranran until we have the results.”

A flicker passed through Mo Xiuchen’s eyes; he understood what Gu Kai meant by waiting for the results.

But could it really be so?

Gu Kai stuffed the letter into his hand, holding the bag, walked to the door, and upon opening it, his face changed as he saw Wen Ran standing outside. He hurriedly hid his hand holding the bag behind his back.

“Ranran, why are you here?”

Wen Ran didn’t know how long she’d been there; her face was terrifyingly pale.

Without answering Gu Kai’s question, her still eyes fixed on the hand he hid behind his back, she trembled, “Give it to me.”

At the sofa, upon hearing Gu Kai’s shout of ‘Ranran,’ Mo Xiuchen sprang to his feet and hurried to the door. Seeing Wen Ran reaching out to Gu Kai for something, pain flashed across his eyes as he softly called out to her, “Ranran.”

“Don’t call me.”

Wen Ran lifted her gaze, and when she looked at Mo Xiuchen, tears overflowed.

Her sharp voice was thick with hatred, like a sharp knife stabbing into Mo Xiuchen’s heart, causing his body to stiffen suddenly.

“Ranran, maybe it’s not Momo’s.”

“The fingernails and hair from yesterday were Momo’s,” Wen Ran took a deep breath through her nose, speaking resolutely, “Even if the thing in here isn’t Momo’s, I can’t wait any longer.”

She hoped that what Gu Kai said was true; she clung to the slim hope that Momo was still safe and sound, but she couldn’t wait another minute.

Her gaze swept over the paper in Mo Xiuchen’s hand and she said coldly, “Let me see it.”
