Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
Chapter 1134: 1133 He may have taken Bai Yiyi awayChapter 1134: 1133 He may have taken Bai Yiyi away
Mo Xiuchen briefly explained the cause of the car accident, but Wen Ran listened with her heart pounding in fear. She knew that although Mo Xiuchen was the best and most outstanding man in her eyes, unparalleled by any other,
he was still only a mortal.
He too had his moments of sadness and emotional fluctuations, and there were times when he would be distracted or absent-minded. Although she had not seen the accident, she had experienced one herself and always had an inexplicable fear of car accidents. After hearing him out, she placed her other hand over his, gripping tightly.
Mo Xiuchen felt Wen Ran’s emotions, and his heart tightened. A wave of emotions surfaced in his calm eyes as he softly said, “Ranran, don’t worry.”
“You are all right, and so is Momo, that’s all I need to know.”
Wen Ran’s gaze rested on the gauze on his forehead as she gently spoke.
“Ranran, let’s go see Momo now,” Mo Xiuchen said, propping himself up from the bed.
Wen Ran asked with concern, “Can you get up? Should you rest a bit more? I can bring Momo over.”
Mo Xiuchen shook his head with a smile, “I’m fine; it’s just a minor injury. I won’t stay here tonight; I’ll move into your room to be with you and our two little treasures.”
“Um, okay,” Wen Ran said, suddenly feeling a sting in her nose.
Seeing the change in her emotions, Mo Xiuchen felt a twinge of heartache. He gently pulled her into his arms with one hand while wrapping the other around her, softly saying, “Ranran, this will be the last time; I won’t let you or our babies get hurt again.”
Last year, when Mo Jingteng had died, he had said that Cheng Jia would come back for revenge. From that time, Mo Xiuchen had been worried, fearing that Ranran might get hurt.
However, after months of searching for Cheng Jia without any findings, he carelessly assumed she had also died in the mudslide disaster this year in City C, just like her parents.
He had been negligent.
That negligence had led to his and Ranran’s precious daughter being stolen, and it happened right under their noses in Kangning Hospital, like a stinging slap to their faces.
“Um, I believe you.”
Wen Ran’s voice was soft, coming from within his embrace.
Mo Xiuchen looked down tenderly and kissed her forehead, softly saying, “Let’s go see Momo first.”
“Um.”
Wen Ran helped Mo Xiuchen out of bed, and they walked out of the hospital room together. As they opened the door, they saw Lu Zhiyan along with Wen Jin and Bai Xiaoxiao standing outside; she didn’t know when he had arrived.
“Mo General, are you okay?”
Lu Zhiyan’s gaze swept over the gauze on Mo Xiuchen’s forehead, asking with concern.
Mo Xiuchen shook his head nonchalantly, “I’m fine.” He paused, then added, “You got the recorder, right?”
“Ah Jin handed it to me; we’ve already captured He Cheng, and Li En is currently missing.”
Lu Zhiyan’s expression was serious as he spoke.
A flicker of confusion crossed Mo Xiuchen’s face, “Li En hasn’t been found? Did you call Bai Yiyi? She might know where Li En has gone.”
“Bai Yiyi’s phone is unreachable, and there is no one at her home.”
Lu Zhiyan’s response surprised both Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran.
“Brother Lu, you don’t mean that Yiyi and Li En left together, do you? Are Tongtong and Yiyi’s mom not at home either?”
Wen Ran looked at Lu Zhiyan in shock, her tone slightly anxious.
This afternoon, Yiyi had taken Tongtong to celebrate Li En’s birthday. Along the way, she had called to say she wouldn’t be able to come to the hospital today and to call her if anything happened.
In fact, Bai Yiyi had told Wen Ran earlier that her mother had recently seen Li En having dinner with a woman who looked like her. After she saw the post-surgery Cheng Jia, a seed of suspicion was planted in her heart.
She had confronted Li En, and although he had retorted angrily, the coincidence made her still suspicious of him.
Lu Zhiyan furrowed his brows slightly, “We are not sure at this moment. Cheng Jia said half a sentence before she died, and I’ve never understood what she meant. But now that you ask, I suddenly think it’s possible that Li En really took Bai Yiyi away.”
“Cheng Jia is dead?”
Mo Xiuchen’s expression darkened slightly, his eyes half-closed as he looked at Lu Zhiyan.
“Yeah, after she carried Momo out of the basement, she left two sentences and then passed away,” Lu Zhiyan mentioned nonchalantly. Wen Ran caught the essential part and asked, “What exactly did Cheng Jia say?”
“She said, ‘Li En took away…’ and then she ran out of breath and died.”
“Brother Lu, you guys go find Li En first. I will go see Momo and try to contact Yiyi later. If I get through, I’ll let you know.”
“That’s all we can do for now. I’ve already stationed people near Li En and Bai Yiyi’s homes to keep watch. As soon as they return, we’ll know.”
“Ranran, you guys go see Momo first,” Wen Jin said calmly. “Even if Li En took Bai Yiyi away, he wouldn’t hurt her. They shouldn’t have gotten far. Don’t worry, Xiaoxiao and I are going upstairs to take care of Ziyi.”
Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen, both preoccupied with thoughts of their daughter Momo, did not stay long. Wen Jin informed Lu Zhiyan and followed Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran upstairs with Xiaoxiao.
The four of them went upstairs together, and as they exited the elevator, they heard a baby’s cry. Wen Ran immediately frowned, “Ziyi is crying.”
Sure enough, as she spoke, the door to her hospital room opened, and the special nursing assistant came out holding Ziyi, looking towards the elevator, evidently waiting for her to come back and breastfeed.
“Ranran, Ziyi must be hungry. You go back to the room and feed him first. I’ll go see Momo, and then I’ll bring her directly to the room.”
“I’ll join you,” Wen Jin interjected.
Wen Ran nodded and gave Wen Jin a thankful glance. Knowing that Mo Xiuchen had just woken up from a car accident and wouldn’t be left alone, and that he’d need help because she had to go back to breastfeed Ziyi, Wen Jin volunteered to go see Momo with Mo Xiuchen.
Wen Jin and Mo Xiuchen went together, and naturally, Xiaoxiao accompanied Wen Ran back to the room.
“Xiaoxiao, try calling Yiyi again, see if her phone goes through?”
Back in the hospital room, as Wen Ran held Ziyi and leaned back on the bed to breastfeed, she gave Xiaoxiao her instructions in a soft voice.
“No problem,” Xiaoxiao agreed promptly, having been looking after Ranran with Bai Yiyi these past few days and thus having her phone number.
She pulled out her phone, dialed Bai Yiyi’s number, and gave Wen Ran a reassuring smile, signaling her not to worry.
Wen Ran lowered her gaze, tenderly watching Ziyi focused on feeding, gently stroking his back with one hand. After days of worry, knowing that Momo was in the same building finally brought warmth to her heart.
“Ranran, still no answer,” Xiaoxiao shrugged, a look of disappointment crossing her face.
