Chapter 1138: 1137 give Momo a hug for me

G City

The airport at night was illuminated by dazzling lights, making the entire facility as bright as day.

In the waiting area, Bai Xiaoxiao and Anlin accompanied Wen Ran on the sofa. Every time Wen Ran tried to stand up and go to the security checkpoint to greet arrivals, they pulled her back.

“Ranran, Brother Wen said there are too many people at the security checkpoint, and you’re too weak. It wouldn’t be good if you were to get jostled by the crowd. Let’s just wait here; they’ll be over soon.”

Bai Xiaoxiao, following Wen Jin’s orders, prevented Wen Ran from going to the security checkpoint and instead had her wait in the VIP lounge.

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao holding onto Wen Ran’s arm, preventing her from leaving, Anlin picked up the cup from the coffee table and handed it to her, “Ranran, the water’s not too hot anymore. Drink up.”

“Thank you.” Wen Ran smiled at Anlin and pulled her hand away from Bai Xiaoxiao, “I won’t go, Xiaoxiao, so there’s no need to keep holding onto me like this.”

“Alright then.”

Bai Xiaoxiao grinned and let go of her hand.

A few more minutes passed, and the sound of voices came from outside the door. Wen Ran sprang up from the sofa and hurried to the door.

Anlin and Bai Xiaoxiao also heard Mo Xiuchen and Wen Jin speaking outside. Seeing Wen Ran hastily get up, they quickly followed.

The door opened, and there was Mo Xiuchen, holding Momo at the entrance.

Momo wasn’t asleep; her clear, large eyes were wide open. Because of Mo Xiuchen’s hold, without turning her head, she could only gaze at his chin.

“Momo.”

Wen Ran called out gently, her voice pouring out with a choked sob.

Perhaps it was a mother-daughter bond, but upon hearing her mother’s call, which was filled with longing and love, Momo’s little face turned towards her.

Her bright eyes met Wen Ran’s tear-filled gaze, slightly confused. She blinked a few times, then cracked a lovely smile.

Tears streamed down Wen Ran’s face at the sight of Momo’s pure and adorable grin.

“Ranran, I’ve brought Momo back. She’s doing very well. She had a basic check-up in D Country. If you’re worried, we’ll do a more thorough examination for Momo once we’re back at Kangning Hospital.”

Mo Xiuchen gazed at Wen Ran’s falling tears, his heart clenching momentarily, but his lips curved into a tender smile, his voice deep and soothing.

As he spoke, he freed one hand to gently wipe the tears from Wen Ran’s face, saying softly, “Don’t cry. We’ll head back to the hospital first.”

Wen Ran pursed her lips tightly, calming her emotions before asking, “Let me hold Momo.”

“Wait until we are in the car, then you can hold her.”

Mo Xiuchen was concerned for Wen Ran’s health, as she had been weakened by the recent ordeal and her wound had not yet healed.

While other women gained weight during their confinement, she had become dangerously thin.

“Ranran, Mo Xiuchen is right. Hold Momo once we are in the car. The airport is crowded, and you’re already in poor health. Let’s get in the car first. We can talk after we’re back at the hospital.”

Wen Jin smiled gently as well, persuading her in a soft tone.

Wen Ran didn’t look at him but kept her gaze fixed on Momo. Momo looked back at her; even after being separated for a few days, she seemed to still recognize her mother.

“Let’s go. We’ll get in the car first.”

Wen Ran lifted her hand to swipe at her tears and said with a choked voice.

Once they got into the car, Wen Ran immediately reached out, took Momo from Mo Xiuchen’s arms into her own, and bent down, kissing her cheek tenderly and softly calling out, “Momo, my baby, you’re finally back in Mommy’s arms.”

“According to Bai Yiyi, Li En had someone take very good care of Momo, so, Ranran, you don’t need to worry,” Mo Xiuchen said, unable to entirely express the complexity of his emotions as he watched Wen Ran hold and kiss their daughter over and over again.

He pulled a tissue from the box beside him and personally wiped Wen Ran’s tears away, teasingly saying, “Ranran, if you keep dropping tears on Momo’s face, she might start crying too.”

Mo Xiuchen was mistaken, though; Momo wasn’t about to cry. Instead, true to a child’s nature, as soon as she was in her mother’s arms, she started seeking her food.

Noticing how she was rubbing her face against Wen Ran’s chest with a crying-but-not-really look, Mo Xiuchen furrowed his brows and said to Qing Yang in the front, “Qing Yang, take over for Ah Jin and drive her car. Here, I’ll drive myself.”

“Okay,” Qing Yang responded immediately, got out of the car, and went to Wen Jin’s car parked nearby.

After taking the driver’s seat and locking the car doors, Mo Xiuchen said to Wen Ran, “Ranran, Momo must be hungry. You should feed her.”

With just the two of them in the car and no one else to see, he started the engine, reversed, and hit the road after finishing his words.

Having been separated from her daughter for so long, Wen Ran certainly didn’t want to let her go hungry. She was planning to feed her at the hospital, but upon hearing Mo Xiuchen say so, she lowered her head and kissed Momo’s cheek again. Tears were still on her face, but a tender smile was already blooming in her eyes, “Momo, be good, don’t cry.”

As the car got on the way, Wen Ran lifted her clothes to breastfeed Momo. The baby had been on formula the past few days and, perhaps because the powder didn’t taste as good as breast milk, she took a firm hold and sucked eagerly.

One small hand was clutching tightly to Wen Ran’s clothes, gulping down the long-missed delicacy.

After Mo Xiuchen departed in the van, Wen Jin handed the driver’s duties to Qing Yang, got out, and within a few steps, Bai Yiyi came over carrying Tongtong.

“President Wen, may Tongtong and I ride with you?”

Wen Jin raised an eyebrow and glanced past her at Gu Kai and Fang Zhiwei, along with Qin Mu and An Lin a few steps away.

“Get in, there’s only Xiaoxiao alone back there, and it won’t be cramped with you and Tongtong too.”

Bai Yiyi stretched her lips into a smile, “Thank you, President Wen.”

After expressing her gratitude, she got into the car with Tongtong.

On the other car, Qin Mu rolled down the window and said to Gu Kai and Fang Zhiwei, who were still standing outside, “Ah Kai, get in, Mo Xiuchen is already headed to the hospital.”

Gu Kai had initially intended for Bai Yiyi holding Tongtong to ride with Qin Mu, and it would have been feasible for him to sit in the front passenger seat with An Lin, Fang Zhiwei, and Bai Yiyi, plus Tongtong.

However, An Lin had taken the front seat first, under the guise that she didn’t trust Qin Mu’s driving.

As a result, for Bai Yiyi to share the back seat with Gu Kai and Fang Zhiwei, she decided not to go to the hospital, preferring to ride in Wen Jin’s car instead.

Seeing Gu Kai looking towards Wen Jin’s car, Fang Zhiwei lowered her eyes and softly said, “Ah Kai, get in the car.”

Gu Kai withdrew his gaze, his narrowed eyes sweeping over her injured arm, nodded, and said to her, “Okay.”

After saying this, he placed a hand over the car roof to let her get in, then closed the door and walked around to the other side to get into the car himself.

“Is Miss Fang’s injury serious?” An Lin turned around, looking puzzled at Gu Kai, as Fang Zhiwei’s arm had reportedly been injured while they were tracking Li En.

Before Gu Kai could respond, Fang Zhiwei just shook her head and casually remarked, “It’s just a minor injury, nothing serious”

Gu Kai turned his head, looked at her arm, and said warmly, “When we get to the hospital, I’ll change your bandage again.”
