Lord Ren stumbled back as he looked at the woman on the ground, around her everyone who was swarming the yamen officers including some of their own officers fell on the ground one by one.

“Ren Shuang!” Lord Ren yelled when he saw his little sister lying on the street with blood covering her body. What was his sister doing here?
Ren Shuang who was lying on the street stirred as she raised her head and looked at his brother. Her eyes brightened as she called, “Brother Guoliang!”
“What Brother? What brother?”Lord Ren snapped harshly at his sister. “What the hell are you doing here? Didn’t I teach you anything? What did I tell you to do when the city falls in danger?”
“Hide in the house?” Ren Shuang answered and Ren Guoliang raised his hand and smacked her on the back of her head.
“Exactly. Did you think that my words were spoken just for fun? What do you think you are doing outside?”
“I was worried about you—”
“Shut up. I don’t want to hear it,” Ren Guoliang snapped angrily. “You—Go back home right now, I will deal with you once I return. How dare you sneak out of the house? You have gone crazy haven’t you, Shuang’er?”
“I thought you died or something.”
“Brother, don’t say that —I haven’t even married my Brother Chuchu.”

Yu Dong smiled upon hearing his words, she raised her hand and was about to pat him on the head when she noticed the blood in her hands and said, “It is fine. This blood does not belong to me— I just ended up getting sprayed by it.”
“What about your hair? You don’t look good like this, sister. Mai liked your long hair,” Yu Mai spoke with a pout while looking at Yu Dong whose hair was now shorter by more than half the length.
“Ah,” Yu Dong remarked as she raised her hand and touched the choppy ends of the locks of her hair. “Well, nothing can be done about this.”
“Madam Yu!” Ren Guoliang called from behind, Yu Dong turned to look at him as well as the rest of the yamen officers who were looking at the mess in front of them.
“Lord Ren,” Yu Dong nodded at him and as the man came to a stop in front of her, he glanced at her robes that were covered in blood.
“This—”
“Don’t worry, this blood belongs to the person who caused this situation and not to these people. They are innocent, I will not kill them for no reason—of course, if they are hurt ..then it is only because I was protecting my family and myself.”
“Dead?” Ren Guoliang heaved a sigh of relief. “It’s good that this person is dead.” He glanced at the hypnotising bug-infected people sprawled on the streets and rubbed his forehead. “This is going to be a headache, the person who caused this havoc is none other than Empress. What am I supposed to do about this? What am I supposed to write in the report for remuneration and compensation?”
“Just write that they were bitten by a bunch of mad, greedy, selfish bitches,” a new voice joined them and Yu Dong turned to look at Madam Qiao and Li Wan.
