Chapter 882: 864: Dance of a Multitude of Demons (Part 2)Chapter 882: Chapter 864: Dance of a Multitude of Demons (Part 2)
Facing off with the Steel Fury Demon, Rocky couldn’t help but curse internally. What the hell was wrong with the demons here? Were they all this paranoid? First the Magic Dragon came back unexpectedly, and now the Steel Fury Demon was doing the same thing!
Since he had been discovered, there was no point in complaining. Rocky immediately leaped down from the tree, but in the same instant, the Steel Fury Demon suddenly hoisted a massive boulder beside it and hurled it at him with great force.
With a thunderous boom, the boulder shattered into countless fragments mid-air. Rocky’s figure shot out from within the debris, heading straight for the Steel Fury Demon.
In terms of size, Rocky was certainly no match for the hulking figure before him. But when it came to strength, bolstered by the White Demon Armor, he could effortlessly punch through a boulder. Simultaneously, as he charged forward, the armor on his back ejected two smoke grenades, which struck the Steel Fury Demon first.
Against the Steel Fury Demon, even the Magic Energy Cannon was barely effective, let alone smoke grenades. However, once the smoke grenades detonated, a thick fog enveloped the Steel Fury Demon entirely, and Rocky’s figure vanished within the haze.
From the outside, nothing could be seen within the smoke. Only the tremors of the ground revealed the chaotic movements of the Steel Fury Demon. But shortly after, a sudden glint of icy light flashed within the smoke, followed by the Steel Fury Demon’s furious roar.
Within the smoke, Rocky had already circled around to the Steel Fury Demon’s back. With one strike, he slashed a massive gash into the demon’s iron-like body. However, such a wound was far from fatal. Without hesitation, Rocky immediately launched himself upward. The moment he moved, the Steel Fury Demon spun around and threw a wild punch. The force of the blow was so immense that it created a faint shockwave, dispersing much of the surrounding smoke.
This was precisely why Rocky relied on smoke grenades. The Steel Fury Demon’s defensive power ranked among the top even compared to other high-level demons, and its strength was unquestionably superior. Engaging such a monster head-on was far from a wise choice. Besides, Rocky’s top priority was to end the battle quickly before other high-level demons were drawn to the commotion. The most effective strategy was to exploit the speed advantage provided by the White Demon Armor to kill the monster in front of him.
Shrouded in smoke, the Steel Fury Demon couldn’t locate Rocky’s position at all. Just as the demon’s previous punch missed its target, the blade of the Magic Fang Scythe struck its neck. While it didn’t decapitate the demon outright, the razor-sharp blade cleaved through half of its throat, causing the Steel Fury Demon to roar in agony. Amid its pained howls, a series of rapid flashes followed as Rocky’s blows struck its limbs repeatedly. At last, he severed one of its entire arms!
It was clear—though the Steel Fury Demon was formidable and ordinary Void Magic Warriors wouldn’t stand a chance against it, in Rocky’s eyes, it was merely a hulking brute with more brawn than brains. Dealing with it was only a matter of time. Following his relentless onslaught, the Steel Fury Demon was soon covered in wounds, and finally, Rocky beheaded it.
With a thunderous crash, the headless Steel Fury Demon—more accurately, the Steel Fury Demon without its Demon Core—collapsed to the ground. It felt like a building had crumbled, causing the earth to quake beneath its weight.
“Phew…”
Landing beside the Steel Fury Demon’s massive corpse, Rocky couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. The Steel Fury Demon’s body was premium material. Its natural composition was comparable to Steel Essence, and if the body were reforged through repeated smelting and combined with some other ingredients, it could yield Hell Metal—a substance reputed to be the strongest metal in the world.
Unfortunately, stuck in the depths of Mist Mountain, Rocky had no way to take the massive body of the Steel Fury Demon with him. Otherwise, he would have had the perfect materials for crafting the next generation of White Demon Armor.
Shaking his head in frustration, he walked out of the dissipating smoke, only to hear a piercing alarm blaring through his helmet as soon as he took a step!
A high-level demon was nearby!
Hearing the alarm, Rocky instantly realized that the battle just now had inevitably drawn other high-level demons. Without a moment’s hesitation, he sprang onto a branch of a tall tree and swiftly left the area.
In the blink of an eye, he had covered over a hundred meters, yet the alarm in his helmet showed no signs of stopping—in fact, it grew even more shrill!
Could it be… had he been surrounded?!
Amid the blaring of the alarm, Rocky abruptly halted on a tree branch and surveyed his surroundings. But no matter where he looked, he saw nothing.
There was no way around it—he was currently deep within Mist Mountain. As he ventured further in, the surrounding fog showed no signs of thinning. Instead, it grew increasingly dense. Initially, he could see a hundred meters or so, but now, his visibility was down to a mere dozen meters, and even that was blurry.
Under such conditions, all Rocky could hear was the incessant alarm. He couldn’t see a single demon.
The feeling was terrible…
Perhaps he was simply fed up with it, because in the end, Rocky decisively turned off the alarm. He switched his armor’s visual mode to Mana Detection Mode and scanned his surroundings.
Mana Detection Mode was originally designed for combat with Void Magic Warriors. It could sense the energy emitted by mana. While it wasn’t particularly effective against normal demons—who had little connection to mana or magic power—it worked well against high-level demons, whose unique abilities often revolved around mana, and whose Demon Cores contained significant energy.
After switching modes, Rocky cautiously scanned his surroundings, making sure not to make a sound. However, the moment he glanced ahead, his eyes widened in shock.
In his field of vision, approximately a hundred meters ahead, more than a dozen red dots were moving!
A dozen red dots… that meant over a dozen high-level demons!
Seeing this, Rocky’s heart leaped into his throat. He quickly turned his head, trying to keep his movements subtle. Yet, when he looked in another direction, he found a similar number of red dots moving!
Scanning his surroundings, Rocky was eventually forced to accept a cruel reality—he had indeed been surrounded. All around him, dozens of high-level demons were closing in. Among them, he spotted another Steel Fury Demon, his old adversaries the Knife Fox Demons, the towering Giant Statue Demons, and even a Cyclops Demon. Each type had two or three demons, with the Knife Fox Demons numbering six or seven. To top it off, Rocky even saw a Magic Dragon flying overhead!
What had he done to cause so many demons to converge on him all at once?!
