Chapter 886: Chapter 868: The Great Demon of Fog!
The man before him—he was a Great Demon!
Realizing this, Rocky immediately swung his scythe. Not because he thought he could kill the Great Demon—he knew full well that such a monstrosity was far beyond his ability to contend with—but to use offense as defense, hoping to create an opening to escape.
Unfortunately, his resistance proved futile before the Great Demon. His once unstoppable scythe passed through the demon’s mist-like body and became stuck. The next moment, the Great Demon grabbed Rocky’s neck with one hand and effortlessly lifted him off the ground.
Holding Rocky aloft by the neck with a single hand, the Great Demon’s form began shifting again. Its features grew increasingly indistinct—eyes, nose, and mouth morphing into deep black voids—while its clothing disintegrated, revealing a fog-like body beneath.
In the blink of an eye, the Great Demon transformed into a true monstrosity!
Yami!
As soon as the demon’s true form was revealed, Rocky instantly recognized its identity—it was none other than Yami, the Demon of the Mist, one of the Thirty-three Great Demons!
Thanks to possessing the Azure Fang and having studied Typhon’s emergence years ago, Rocky had paid close attention to the Thirty-three Great Demons, gathering information from all sorts of sources. Thus, he recognized Yami at first glance.
Great Demon Yami, a demon formed from mist, lacking a physical body, capable of devouring humans and transforming into the appearance of anyone it consumed. Yami was also one of the earliest discovered Great Demons.
“Let me see your face…”
Just as Rocky identified Yami’s true form, the demon—its visage now utterly monstrous—extended its other hand and grabbed Rocky’s helmet.
It was clear Yami intended to remove his helmet and examine his face. This seemingly peculiar habit was one of Yami’s quirks. A being of unparalleled strength, Yami delighted in toying with its opponents, particularly savoring the act of consuming them and taking their form.
Evidently, its transformation into the renowned Red Rock Emperor earlier was because the emperor had fallen victim to Yami—a fact historically left unrecorded.
Right now, however, Rocky had no time to ponder such matters. Yami’s grip on the fine steel helmet of the White Demon Armor was steadily warping it, as though it were about to crush it!
He had to find a way to resist!
Or else, he was doomed!
Warning alarms of armor damage blared incessantly in his ears. Desperate, Rocky tried everything to break free—swinging his arms, kicking with his legs—but none of it worked.
Yami’s nature was highly peculiar. As the Demon of the Mist, its true essence was just mist. Even the form Rocky saw now was merely one it had shapeshifted into. As mist, Yami was impossible for Rocky to even touch; all his punches, kicks, and struggles passed harmlessly through its fog-like body.
In stark contrast, Yami’s misty form seemed to wield infinite strength. Once it had a hold of Rocky, escape was impossible. This created a baffling paradox—while Yami was intangible against Rocky’s attacks, it solidified into a tangible, inescapable force whenever gripping him.
This was what made Great Demons so outrageous—unbelievable, utterly incomprehensible entities.
Facing such a situation, Rocky was on the brink of despair. Yet, it was at this moment that a sudden idea struck him.
The next second, Rocky raised his right hand, aiming his open palm at Yami’s head. With a flash of red runes igniting on his wrist, a fiery tongue burst forth!
Scorching flames erupted from his palm, catching Yami off guard. The blaze splashed across its face, and the fog-like body immediately ignited, unleashing a blood-curdling scream!
It worked!
As Yami howled in agony, Rocky dropped unceremoniously onto the steps. Meanwhile, Yami had already been consumed by flames.
Seeing his theory proven correct as Yami writhed in torment, Rocky realized he had been right. Yami’s mist-like body rendered it impervious to all physical attacks—even the magic-enhanced Magic Fang Scythe couldn’t injure it. However, surely it had to have some weakness. Rocky had studied the Great Demons’ informational records extensively. Although Yami was one of the earliest discovered Great Demons, it wasn’t the strongest. It had to share a vulnerability.
And now it seemed its weakness was elemental attacks.
Just as Rocky reached this conclusion, there was the sound of a metallic clang. The Magic Fang Scythe, previously entangled within Yami’s body, fell to the ground. Without hesitation, Rocky quickly reclaimed the weapon and, without a moment’s delay, launched himself skyward!
Though Yami was engulfed by flames, Rocky wasn’t foolish enough to assume that a single burst of fire could eliminate a Great Demon. Surely, Yami wasn’t dead yet. He had to escape immediately.
As he ascended, Rocky hurriedly reactivated his communicator, reconnecting with Liliya aboard the War Steed.
“Rocky! What are you doing!”
After cutting communications to prevent Liliya and the others from worrying, Rocky had issued an evacuation order and shut off the link. Now, upon reestablishing communication, Liliya’s furious shout was the first thing he heard. But Rocky had no time to explain the monumental disaster he had stumbled into. He interrupted her urgently: “Liliya! Get the War Steed out of here immediately! Notify the Allied Forces to launch a full-scale assault on Mist Mountain—flatten it to the ground!”
“Wha… What?”
Liliya, who had been frustrated by Rocky’s earlier communication blackout, was stunned at his order. She could tell something was terribly wrong—but couldn’t fathom what kind of trouble could prompt such panic.
“Quick! There’s a Great Demon in Mist Mountain! Great Demon Yami!”
“Got it!”
At the mention of the word “Great Demon,” Liliya’s mind instantly felt like it had exploded. She hurriedly called Karina over, informing her of the situation while racing to the deck to look below.
The War Steed had been hovering above Mist Mountain the entire time. As Liliya and Karina gazed downward, they could clearly see the dense mist shrouding the mountain. But now, that mist seemed alive—churning with fierce movement, gradually forming into an enormous human face that opened its massive mouth, aiming right for the War Steed above!
“Quick! Ascend immediately!”
Seeing the mist morph into a gigantic face, Liliya promptly ordered the War Steed to rise as fast as it could. Turning to Karina, who appeared stunned into silence, she shouted, “Karina, take command of the War Steed and head back to Thunderhawk City. I’m going to get Rocky!”
Having said this, Liliya, clad in the Red Flame Goddess armor, leapt off the deck and accelerated downward, plunging straight toward Mist Mountain. By the time Karina recovered from her stupor, Liliya had already vanished into the mist.
“Contact the Allied Forces immediately!”
Watching Liliya dive headlong into Mist Mountain, Karina let out a resigned sigh before swiftly regaining her composure. As a City Lord herself, she took command of the War Steed without hesitation, immediately establishing contact with the Allied Forces.
