Two days later, while Shen Shiqi and his group were still combing the city for Yue’er, she had already arrived at the foot of Yunxiao Mountain. A joyful smile spread across her small face as she gazed at the familiar surroundings. With light steps, she darted towards the mountain like a playful bird.

Muchen smiled. “I arrived before you. I came this morning, and when I saw you weren’t back yet, I decided to wait for you on this mountain path.”

“When you sent me a message last time, weren’t you still far away? How did you get back faster than me?” she asked, surprised. She walked up to him and sat down on the stone steps of the mountain path, resting her chin in her hands, a look of disappointment on her face. “I thought I was the first one here!”

Muchen sat down beside her. “Did you have a smooth journey back? Did the people who were following you give you any trouble?” As he spoke, his gaze fell upon her beggar’s clothes, a hint of curiosity in his small face. “Did you dress up as a beggar the whole way back?”

“Hehe, I shook them off, brother. It turns out that dressing up as a beggar is really fun!” she said with a grin. “Those people were following me, but when I dressed up as a beggar, they didn’t recognize me. Next time I go out, I’ll dress up as a beggar again.”

“Big Brother hasn’t come back yet. He was delayed on the road and will probably be back in two days, but he should be back within a month,” Muchen explained, looking at her. “When I came back, I reported to Master’s cave abode. Since you’re here, you should also go tell Master that you’re back.”

Hearing this, Yue’er paused for a moment. She lifted her arm, pulled at her clothes, sniffed intently, and then responded with serious conviction, “Master, my clothes are still clean. I only smell of sweat; there are no fleas on me.”
