Chapter 1539 - 1539: Reaching the Next Rank

Ding!

[30,106,704 XP has been allocated.]

[You are now Level 56.]

[As you have ascended to a higher class, your VIT to HP coefficient has changed from 1:24 to 1:32.]

[As you have ascended to a higher class, your INT to MP coefficient has changed from 1:24 to 1:32.]

[…]

Briefly looking through the notifications that popped up in his mind the moment he sent the command, Ataraxia inwardly nodded in satisfaction as he felt his strength go up all of a sudden.

Giving himself some time to familiarize with this newfound strength, the young man then moved onto the usual prompts that followed the ascension process, only to notice that one of them was considerably different from the ones he was used to.

[Would you like to select a new class for the ascension? Or would you like to keep your current class instead?]

[Note that selecting the former shall not forfeit all of the bonuses you’ve obtained from your current class. However, any subsequent bonuses that could have been obtained shall be forfeited onwards.]

‘…Huh.’

Going through this system prompt a couple of times in his head, a pensive expression slowly appeared on Ataraxia’s face as he opened his eyes.

Whoosh!

Bringing up the prompts for both his class and his species in front of him after that, he then looked at the two one more time, only to then shift his gaze towards Valyr.

“I think you should take note of this.”

“Hmm?” Hearing his other identity call for him, the young man went ahead and looked in the direction of where the former was pointing, only for him to start frowning a few seconds later.

“So you’re either forced to choose a new class or stay with what you have, huh?” muttered Valyr after looking through the new prompts a couple more times. “Then again… the system didn’t say anything about having to go with one over the other.”

“Have you tried checking if you’re forced to go with one of the two choices yet?”

“Not yet.” Ataraxia shook his head in response. “Let me check.”

Taking in a deep breath to compose himself, the young man went ahead and selected the option of choosing a new class for his ascension.

Thinking that the system would give him a prompt as to whether he planned to continue with his decision or not, Ataraxia was somewhat caught off guard the moment he saw the list appear in front of him all of a sudden, causing him to panic that he had wasted his efforts on evolving his current class for nothing.

Fortunately, after a bit of looking around, he soon noticed that the option of keeping his current class was still there, taking on the form of a button at the top.

Letting out a sigh of relief at this discovery, Ataraxia went ahead and shared this new piece of information with his original identity, allowing the two to commit it to memory as the young man proceeded to keep his current class for the ascension.

After all, he had yet to fully evolve his current class to the next grade.

Moving his attention towards the list of possible species he could choose to become at Rank 4, the young man briefly skimmed through most of them, especially once he found out that all of them weren’t really any better than what he currently had.

Of course, the choices on the top of the list were still on par or slightly beyond compared to what he currently had, with one of them even containing skills that Ataraxia felt would synergize greatly with his current style.

Thankfully, after reminding himself of the goal he had for his species, the young man eventually shifted his gaze away from the more enticing option, instead opting to select the 4th Unsealing of his current race instead.

Whoosh!

Feeling a massive wave of strength course throughout his body after finalizing his selection, a faint smile soon appeared on Ataraxia’s lips as he gave his original identity a knowing glance.

Then, as if the two already knew what was about to come next, the two went ahead and quickly laid themselves flat on the ground, only to be whisked away to the world of unconsciousness a few moments later.

“Ugh…”

Feeling his consciousness finally return to the waking world, Ataraxia took a bit of time to adjust to his newfound senses before trying to get up.

However, just as he was about to sit upright, the young man paused in the middle, only to then return lying on the ground after feeling that his back had become incredibly sore.

“Probably shouldn’t have lied down on hard ground,” murmured the young man to himself, inwardly letting out a sigh as he took a brief look to his side.

Seeing that his original identity was nowhere to be found, Ataraxia got a rough idea of how long he’d been out.

Activating [Soul Split] after that, he then went ahead and checked the current time through the system, quickly finding out that almost two days had passed since he decided to ascend to Rank 4.

‘It could’ve been worse,’ inwardly muttered the young man to himself as the thought came to mind. ‘I could be waiting around in a featureless room for a month straight right now without being able to do anything.’

‘Plus, it’s not like there’s no benefit to falling unconscious after ascension.’

Whoosh!

Flaring his aura to its utmost limits, the young man went ahead and took the time to familiarize himself to his greatly increased stats, doing a few basic combat movements to get a rough sense of what he was currently capable of.

After that, he took a look at Valyr, who nodded back at him after watching him go through his sequence of movements. “Only one thing left.”

“Yeah.” Ataraxia nodded in return. “Do you think they’d have us come there once we’re at the same level? Or do you think they prepared anything in advance?”

“There’s only one way to find out.”

Hearing those words from his original identity, an expectant smile appeared on Ataraxia’s face as he thought about how much his strength would increase the moment he upgraded his level to the peak of Rank 4.

Taking a deep breath after that as he discarded the nonsensical thoughts in his head, the young man soon told the system to upgrade his level with the unused XP he had.

And thus, the system did so without hesitation.
