Chapter 6081 A New Beginning

As Long Chen closely examined his starry sea, he discovered that although it appeared to be a single vast expanse, it was actually composed of many star clusters.

The smallest clusters contained thousands of stars, while the largest held so many that he couldn’t even start to count them.

Now that he had advanced to the Human Emperor realm, he possessed true Emperor power, and his physical body had risen to unprecedented heights.

Against double-body Sovereign Lords, he could block Sovereign weapons with his bare hands—a feat so monstrous that others could hardly believe it.

But in the face of his astral energy, even this seemingly invincible body was laughably insignificant. The energy of even the smallest star in his starry sea could blow him to bits.

Now Long Chen realized that when he summoned the starry sea, what he had been using wasn’t even the energy of its outer layer. It was merely the leftover qi of the starry sea—a shallow echo, far from its true power.

Despite holding the vastness of the cosmos within him, he had only ever drawn a bit from it as if scooping up a single ladle of water from the ocean.

He had been using that ladle to fight titanic battles… all while an endless sea of power surged behind him, untouched.

Now that he understood this, it didn’t make him feel stronger; it only frustrated him.

To have such terrifying power at his fingertips yet be unable to wield it… it was like sitting on a mountain of gold while starving.

When Long Chen activated the Eight Star Battle Armor, he sensed a transformation. The energy it drew upon came directly from the eight stars.

If using astral energy normally was like wielding a ladle, then the Eight Star Battle Armor was like using a pot. It was bigger, yes—but compared to the ocean behind it, it was still laughably small.

“Just what am I supposed to do about this?” Long Chen asked.

He was filled with unease. The limitations weren’t just annoying—they were dangerous.

But suddenly, a thought struck him.

Wait… If I want to draw out more of the starry sea’s energy, I need to widen the opening from which it flows. The starry gates…!

He slapped his leg and shouted, “Divine gates, appear!”

Following Long Chen’s shout, eight giant gates stood within his starry sea.

He summoned them out of his starry sea, but he didn’t dare to touch them. After all, every gate contained explosive power beyond what he could endure.

He then studied the currents of energy flowing through them, analyzing their connections.

Soon, he found that they were one complete set connecting to each other. Astral energy flowed between them.

“Eight divine gates… wait… aren’t these the Eight Divination Gates?! Opening, Body, Life, Pain, Limit, Vision, Terror, and Death!”

Based on their positions, Long Chen recognized the layout. Each gate aligned with the Eight Divination Gates from ancient formations.

Inscribed atop the gates were immortal characters. Though he couldn’t recognize them all, he could clearly identify the characters for Life, Death, Terror, and Opening.

These were ancient Jiuli immortal characters. Even if he couldn’t read them all, the positions confirmed their identities.

“Eight stars… eight gates…”

A thunderclap rang in his mind. A storm of possibilities exploded in his thoughts.

Long Chen closed his eyes and meditated. The eight divine gates guarded him in silence. But this time, he was not a prisoner of their power—he was their master.

Still, he knew if he tried to force open even one gate, he’d be torn to pieces.

However, if he could open all eight at once and have them work in harmony, maybe… just maybe… he could withstand it.

Long Chen didn’t know how long he sat like that.

Gradually, the eight gates started to open. Swirling whirlpools of astral energy emerged above each gate, forming a cosmic array with Long Chen at the center.

He formed hand seals and slowly started to spin within the vortex.

The rotation grew faster and faster. The energy pressure surged higher and higher. Several breaths later, Long Chen violently vomited and was forced to shut the gates.

After some rest and recovery, he opened the gates again. This time, he didn’t move. Instead, the whirlpools pulled at him with a terrifying force, twisting his body like a hemp rope.

He immediately stopped again.

Through repeated attempts, Long Chen arrived at one conclusion: the eight gates were the best path to accessing more of the starry sea’s energy.

However, Long Chen’s physical body was still too weak to fully activate the power of the eight gates. He couldn’t even sustain the most basic form.

“It’s no good. I have to strengthen my physical body!” Long Chen exclaimed.

Without a powerful physical body, there was no way he could endure the power of the eight gates, let alone what would happen once he merged the eight gates with his eight stars.

After reaching the Human Emperor realm, Long Chen found himself in a strange new state.

In the Heaven Saint realm, every breakthrough had been like scaling a cliff. But now, it felt like he was at the base of a vast mountain with limitless room to climb.

They said that the Human Emperor realm was the most precious realm for the human race—the point at which their innate potential could be maximized.

In the past, Long Chen had doubted that. But now, he understood.

His qi, blood, tendons, bones, and meridians had undergone a rebirth. It was like he had returned to that very first moment of cultivation in the Phoenix Cry Empire. As long as he could stimulate them with enough energy, his physical body would continuously grow.

“This is the greatest gift the Nine Star Master gave the human race,” Long Chen muttered, clenching his fists. “I have to make full use of this realm.”

He needed to strengthen his body until he could safely open the eight gates.

Otherwise, if he encountered a third Heavenstage Sovereign Lord again, all he could do was run. That feeling—being a dog on the run—was infuriating.

And… the most reliable way to temper the body was through weight training. It was basic, but effective.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have anything heavy enough.

It wasn’t like he could run around carrying a mountain. And even if he did, it wouldn’t be heavy enough for him.

“I’ll have to ask the Huayun Trading Company for help,” Long Chen muttered.

After coming to a decision, Long Chen didn’t immediately leave. He continued cultivating where he was for three days.

Three days later, his aura surged, Emperor power soaring into the heavens. After advancing to the first Heavenstage, Long Chen rose and departed.
