Chapter 432: First day
Michael’s stall had two different categories.
One was items for everyday use in the kitchen and in everyday life. Things like pans and pots. These were basic metalwork items that were already present in this world.
The other items were personal items like soaps, shampoos, and even make-up.
Now usually, these items were made by hand, and were usually filled with imperfections and dents because if it was too perfect, then the price would go up too much.
However, when Otto and the others looked at the rate on these items, they were surprised that they were in the same price range as second-hand wares.
The only problem was that the metalwork and quality of these items were far too good for the price.
“These are way too cheap!” said Pedro. “It looks like these had been made by the Dwarves!”
Michael shrugged. “That’s the normal price in our territory—actually, I even made it a bit pricier for this stall.”
They couldn’t believe it. They thought that for such great quality, the price had to be at least doubled to match the amount of work and effort that was put into the item. And that didn’t even take into account the price for shipping these items!
But what they didn’t know was that these were all mass manufactured in his factories, so these were considered low quality in their territories. As for transporting these goods, once the Golden Road was finished, then the fee would significantly lower down.
“Would you guys like to try it out?” he asked them.
Otto and the others became the first test customers for the stall. The Rebornian attendants quickly went to work and began ’selling’ the items to them.
“Dear customer, this is our famous Reborn Soap! To see how good our product is, I will put all of this dirt and grime on my hand. And if I use this soap and a little bit of water….then voila! It’s gone, and my hand smells even better than a field of flowers!”
Rhena’s jaw dropped when she smelled the different colored soaps on display. Some were even better than her perfumes!
They were all surprised as each and every one of Michael’s products were far beyond what they had seen in the market. And some of them, like the matchsticks, were amazing innovations that they knew could change the whole landscape of the market.
Otto and the others were convinced. Michael was in a whole league of his own. They would even dare say that he could compete with the best of them in Metropolis, even the Legacies!
“So this is the reason why you were so confident about the permit test,” said Otto. “With these products, you knew you were going to pass no matter what.”
“I’m not ashamed to say that what I’ve been doing is amateurish compared to what you do,” confessed Rhena.
“Just that…automobile alone, I knew that I was outmatched. It’s a work of beauty that I have no way of understanding,” said Perdo.
“Everyone said it already. You deserve that permit,” Carter added.
And it seems that they weren’t the only ones who noticed Reborn stand out from the rest.
A few customers had finally given in to their curiosity and approached the scary metal ’monster’ in the park.
At first, they were just curious as to what kind of thing could move that fast despite being so heavy. But then, they saw that it was actually one of the stalls from those companies that wanted to get a permit.
The one that approached was a small family of four, two kids and the parents.
And as they approached, the Rebornian workers immediately put on their smiles and accommodated their first customer.
“Welcome to the mobile Reborn store, what can I get for you?”
Michael watched as the family observed the product demonstrations with wide eyes. They were immediately taken in by the dazzling display and wanted to get one for themselves.
“I’ll get the soap and the shampoos!” said the mother.
“I’ll take that knife for me. Honey, it can slice a paper in half without even any pressure!”
“Mom, dad! I want that matchstick! I can create fire like I’m a magician!”
“Me too! Me too!”
And within a few minutes, the satisfied family of four walked away from the stall having bought at least ten items in total! They even promised to return tomorrow to buy some more, given that they only brought in a limited budget today.
The day only went on to become better and better for Michael.
The dramatic entrance this morning served as a huge advertisement and lured a lot of people to come and check out their wares. Anyone that came close to them ended up buying at least one item for themselves.
This was one of the advantages of having a lot of items in stock; people from all walks of life had something to buy.
More and more people came to check out and buy something from the stall. And a staggering 100% of the people who walked along their path of the plaza ended up garnering a sale for Michael and his stall.
The items in the desks were far too alluring for them to pass up.
Eventually, one of the customers smelled a delicious scent coming from the stall. They stopped looking around the desks and came closer to the stall.
There, they saw the Rebornian attendants wearing aprons as they dunked something in searing hot oil, producing that mouth-watering sizzling sound.
“Hmm…that smells good. What is that?” the slightly chubby male customer asked.
“Hello sir, this is our menu for today. You can pick what you like,” replied the Rebornian attendant.
The man looked over the menu, seeing things like pizza, donuts, and churros from the list of foods available. As for the drinks section, there was ice cold water, beer, and even tropical fruit juices of all kinds.
At first, the man was very suspicious of this. How could they even get fresh fruit in the middle of winter? And he didn’t even know anything about the foods that they offered.
But since the smell was good, the man decided to give it a try.
“Give me this…donut thing,” he said.
“Alright, sir. Would you like water with that?”
The man shrugged. “Sure.”
And in a few minutes, the attendant handed him a torus-shaped bread with some chocolate drizzled on the top of it.
This was very appetizing to the man, and he couldn’t help but take a bite out of it this very instant. And as soon as he took a bite, he was hooked. The chocolate and the bread was a combination he had never tried before.
“This is amazing!” he praised.
He ended up eating everything in a few seconds, making him crave for some water.
The attendant saw this and quickly served him a cup of ice cold water.
“Excuse me miss! Can I have more of that donut?”
“Alrigth sir. It will take a while to cook the donuts, so would you like to sit in one of our tables?” the attendant asked as she pointed at the neatly placed tables around the grass.
The man nodded and took a seat, waiting patiently for his donut.
And as the day ended, Otto and the others were surprised to see that Michael had garnered over a thousand sales in a single day!
This would put him well on track to passing the permit test!
