Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 433: Results of the first dayChapter 433: Results of the first day
The Upperwood District Festival was something that continued whether it was day or night. During this one week period, everyone was burning the midnight oil to continue the festivities even though the sun had already set far off into the horizon.
Those established businesses like the Quench company, the Suite Suits, the Spice Vise, and the Pyramidic Cuisine had their entire building lit up with oil lamps and even some magic lights courtesy of their own magicians under their purview.
That was how they continued to conduct their business well off into the night until the crack of dawn.
But for Otto, Rhena, Carter, Pedro, and the other companies in the Market Plaza trying to get their permit, they had no other choice but to rely on poorly illuminated candles. Some even chose to simply pack up and wait until the sun rose tomorrow morning.
In fact, Otto and the others were even thinking the same thing. Unlike Michael, they sold next to nothing during this festival.
Their pathway was already a place where not a lot of people visited. But those that visited them never even gave their wares a second look.
“I think we’re done for tonight,” said Otto. “How about you, Michael?”
“I’ll keep the stall open,” he replied.
“But how are you going to do that—”
Before Otto could even finish his sentence, the four attendants inside the Mobile Food Truck started flipping the switches inside to reveal a bevy of small lights lined up along the railings of the truck itself.
There were two overhead bulbs that illuminated the whole surroundings, including the desks containing his products as well as the tables reserved for those who ate their food.
Everyone’s eyes widened. They thought that it was magic, but they saw no sign of any magic circle that popped up around the stall!
“What is this?!”
“Woah…that’s pretty.”
“I can’t believe it’s so bright out here in the park!”
Eventually, the dazzling lights lured some of the people to purposefully come out of their way and check out Michael’s stall. These people weren’t supposed to be travelling in this path, but the bright lights attracted them like bugs.
“Welcome to Reborn Stall, what can we get for you?”
…
…
…
Eventually, the night wore on and the amount of people walking through the park plummeted. This officially signaled the end of the first day as there were no more customers to be found.
Now, most people would usually have to pack up their products to safeguard them, but Michael chose to leave them be because he knew that there were Shadow Orcs surveilling the area at all times.
Eventually, one of the Association employees walked up to Michael and asked to tally his score.
“Mr. Michael, good morning. Your first day has gone well, I hope?”
Michael shrugged. “It could have been better.”
Although they had done more than a thousand sales on the first day, Michael thought that he could have had more if people visited this place more often.
He was very much limited by the amount of traffic going around in the J5 area of the Market Plaza. All the people who walked along this path ended up buying something from him, which told him that he would have gotten so much more if he had better visibility among the general public.
The sensation with the automobile did extremely well, but the fact that there was no social media in this world really hindered the rumor to spread that fast.
Though, by his estimations, the amount of sales they would get on the second day would definitely increase by a lot. Hopefully, the word of mouth helped spread the name Reborn throughout the district.
All in all though, Michael’s situation was pretty good. He was just disappointed that it wasn’t better.
However, the employee took that as something bad and patted Michael’s shoulders, consoling him. “You can do better today.”
“Yep. hopefully more than two thousand on the second day,” he muttered.
The employee seemed to have ignored that. “Okay, I just need the special Association coins from you.”
During this Festival, every single citizen was given special coins. These coins were the currency of the Festival, and they were the coins that people paid to exchange for the item or service that the companies provided.
And at the end of the day, these coins would be exchanged into real monetary gold coins by the Association. This helped measure how many sales a company had in a single day.
“Please put all your coins into this special chest,” said the employee as he brought out a wooden chest.
“It has a magic spell that helps count the pieces, as well as check for any forgery for the coins.”
Michael used his shadow skill and dumped out all of their special Association coins into the box.
As the first few coins landed and formed a small mountain, a magic circle appeared in front of the chest and started a counter for everything that fell inside.
The number reached the 200 mark, and the employee couldn’t help but nod in respect. Normally, companies were not even able to gather this much in a single day, much less the first day.
Clink clink clink clink
But then, the coins kept tumbling into the chest without any sign of stopping. The employee’s widened as he saw the counter on the chest start to go up from 200 to 500…and then to 1000!
Michael shook his hand until the very last coin had dropped into the chest, totalling 1252 Association coins.
“What…the…”
The employee couldn’t believe what he was seeing. For him, this was just routine. He had visited almost a hundred other companies today, and they all showed a number below the 500 mark.
And yet, this golden-haired boy was able to get 1200 sales in a single day?!
He couldn’t believe it. And it was only now did the employee finally look up and saw the Mobile Food Truck in front of him.
He saw the variety of items displayed on the tables, he saw the lights illuminating the interior of the stall as well as the outside. He heard the sound of sizzling food being cooked in the fryer.
“What is this…” he asked.
“This is Reborn…and by the way. How did we do compared to the other companies?”
Michael’s question seemed to have woken the employee up from his stupor. He immediately consulted his scroll and began to scan through its contents.
With Reborn’s score of 1200 plus sales for today, that would put them at the very top of all the companies wanting to get a permit. They had smashed through the record!
“You’re in first place,” the employee said.
The Rebornian employees cheered and celebrated their success.
“Congratulations, boss!”
“Hehe, I knew you could do it!”
Michael pumped his fist and celebrated with the rest of them.
Meanwhile, the employee couldn’t help but think to himself.
How would Michael and the Reborn company compare to the local companies in the festival?
The employee secretly took out a second scroll from his pockets. This was the rankings for the companies already well established in Metropolis: companies like the Quench company, the Pyramidic Cuisine, and a whole lot more.
